Exploring Technology in a Wizard World -
Chapter 329 - Chapter 329 Chapter 328 Pandoras Slumber Ends
Chapter 329: Chapter 328: Pandora’s Slumber Ends Chapter 329: Chapter 328: Pandora’s Slumber Ends Regarding Mephisto’s manner of speaking, Macbeth had grown accustomed to it, and being called “trash” didn’t really anger him. Faced with suspicions that he’d intentionally let Mu Konni escape, he simply retorted indifferently, “Otherwise? By myself, I wouldn’t stand a chance against the opponent.
That woman, for some reason–despite having the strength of only a First-level Wizard–was able to use some technique to quickly advance to a Second-level Wizard for a short period. Armstrong and I weren’t her match. If it hadn’t been for the loud noises caused by her magic drawing others near, Armstrong and I would be dead by now.”
“Is that so…” Mephisto narrowed her eyes, murmuring to herself, “Troublemakers? The capability of a Second-level Wizard? Hmm…”
After a moment, Mephisto looked towards Macbeth and spoke earnestly, “This matter seems to be more than trivial; White Stone Tower needs to pay closer attention. Later, there will be a meeting. Prepare yourself, Armstrong and you should attend.”
“Eh, okay.” Macbeth shrugged in agreement.
“Armstrong?” Mephisto turned to Armstrong, calling out to him by name.
“I don’t have any problems,” Armstrong responded.
“That’s good then.” After Mephisto finished speaking, she didn’t dawdle and leapt into the air, transforming into a white streak and disappearing into the distance.
The other five wizards who had rushed over first inquired about Macbeth’s and Armstrong’s condition, and after ascertaining there were no serious issues, they left one after another.
Finally, Macbeth and Armstrong stood up, staggering as they walked away into the distance.
As they walked, Macbeth tilted his head to ask Armstrong, “What are you planning to do now?”
“Head back to treat my injuries,” Armstrong answered.
Macbeth nodded, saying nothing more.
Armstrong seemed to realize something, his eyes flickered, and he looked at Macbeth somewhat surprised, asking, “What, you’re not?”
“The tavern to the west of the city, I don’t know if it’s closed now, but I want to go and see. I’m thinking of getting some marmalade,” Macbeth said, not sounding at all joking. “We were in such deadly danger just before, it nearly cost me my life. It’s made me realize I should enjoy life more while I can. By the way, do you want to come? I can treat you.”
“…” Armstrong was speechless, then after a while, said, “It’s so late, shouldn’t the tavern be closed?”
“Possibly.” Macbeth didn’t deny it but suddenly his eyes lit up, “However, it’s dawn now, and if they are closed, they’ll have to open soon.”
“Huh?” Armstrong was stunned, then saw the first light of day breaking in the eastern sky and said in resignation, “Alright, you go on ahead. But, as for me… I’d better get a handle on my injuries first.”
“Suit yourself,” Macbeth shrugged, and without looking back, headed west in the early morning glow.
Armstrong coughed lightly, spitting out some blood, and couldn’t help shaking his head at the sight of Macbeth’s retreating figure, then walked in a different direction.
…
Laboratory, main lab.
Daylight had broken, and the sun shone through the window, illuminating Richard’s face.
Richard’s eyelids trembled slightly, and he slowly opened his eyes, then sat up. He keenly sensed the state of his body and found it to be not too bad; although he still had quite a few internal injuries, at least there was no longer any danger of his body’s internal environment collapsing. All that was left was to recuperate slowly.
The severe throat constrictions had also subsided, and breathing became smooth. Richard reached out and removed the tube inserted into his neck. The healing wound was torn open, bleeding afresh. Richard didn’t mind; the No.1 Ring on his finger activated the “Accelerated Recovery” Magic Rune Spell, quickly stopping the blood and speeding up the wound’s healing.
“Click click click…”
Richard moved his bones a bit as he stood up, ready to perform a more detailed examination of his body. Suddenly, he noticed something and abruptly turned his head to see Pandora lying on the ground nearby, looking at him with a pair of big eyes.
“Huh? You didn’t sleep?” Richard raised an eyebrow and asked Pandora. Because his trachea hadn’t fully healed, air sporadically leaked from his wounds, making his voice sound a bit strange.
Despite Richard’s odd voice, Pandora understood his question and shook her head in response, “Didn’t sleep.” She then stood up.
“Oh, is that so.” Richard didn’t pay it much attention and casually responded as he turned and walked to the side.
One step, two steps, three steps…
“Snap!”
Richard suddenly stopped, realizing something, and turned his head to look intently at Pandora, asking out loud, “You haven’t slept? You’ve been awake since I returned? Not tired?”
Pandora shook her head again, “Not tired.”
“Hmm–” Richard fell silent and looked Pandora up and down, noticing that she indeed didn’t show any signs of the sleepiness that once plagued her. She looked more like how she was during their time together in the forest.
So… the hibernation ended? The long hibernation that spanned over half a year was over?
Richard’s eyes twinkled as he asked Pandora seriously, “Have you noticed any changes in your body?”
“Changes?”
“Yes, changes.” Richard asked, “Changes in any aspect.” In Richard’s view, Pandora, as a dragon, couldn’t just fall asleep for no reason, especially for such a long duration. The most likely explanation was that she was growing, gaining strength. But what kind of growth or strength could that be?
Pandora thought for a while and answered, “My strength got bigger.”
“Your strength got bigger?” Richard raised an eyebrow. This was somewhat expected. He pressed on, “By how much?”
“By… maybe the strength of three or four bears.”
Richard: “…”
What kind of measurement was that? Could strength be measured in bears?
The strength of one bear, two bears? The strength of Bear One, Bear Two?
Richard shook his head, deciding not to delve into this question any further, and continued to ask, “Besides strength, any other changes?”
“This…” Pandora hesitated, tilting her head to think for quite some time before frowning uncertainly, “I… got taller?”
“Got taller? Really?” Richard looked at Pandora’s stature, not quite believing her.
“I really did get taller.” Pandora spoke out, her tone becoming assertive as she ran over to Richard and gestured the height of her head with her hand.
“Before, I remember, my height was just up to here on you.” Pandora pointed to a spot on Richard’s waist.
“Now, I’m up to here.” Pandora’s hand moved slightly below Richard’s waist as she spoke with a rise in her voice.
“Huh?” Pandora suddenly froze, her voice lowering as she frowned at the position she was gesturing to, and after a while she spoke, “That’s not right… I’m supposed to be taller, so how… compared to you, I’m shorter?”
Richard: “…” Because I’m also growing taller, alright? This body of mine is only fifteen or sixteen years old!
