Chapter 325 - Chapter 325 Chapter 324 Corpse Return to Earth

Chapter 325: Chapter 324: Corpse Return to Earth Chapter 325: Chapter 324: Corpse Return to Earth MOF, multi-organ failure, is a highly complex condition. However, there is one mechanism that is common: that is when the body sustains a blow and an autodestructive inflammatory response occurs throughout the body, known as Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (SIRS).

After SIRS sets in, symptoms worsen, leading to multi-organ failure.

Although Richard couldn’t be certain he was experiencing this, he didn’t dare take it lightly because once true multi-organ failure occurs, even in the most advanced hospitals on modern Earth, there is a very high chance of death–let alone in a world much like the medieval era.

Generally speaking, if it’s a single organ failure, the mortality rate can reach around 30%.

With two organs failing, the mortality rate is about 50%.

Three organs failing, the mortality rate exceeds 75%.

Four organs failing, the mortality rate… 100%.

Richard felt his bodily condition, the erratic heartbeat, blood pressure fluctuating wildly, and his dizzy brain, he clenched his teeth to stay conscious and walked to a wooden rack on the laboratory wall. His hands slightly trembling, he took down two potion bottles–one liquid, one powder–and poured them into his mouth.

After swallowing the potions, Richard staggered over to the laboratory table, swept aside a large pile of relatively unimportant items on it to the floor, then lay back on the surface, struggling to steady his breathing and stabilize his condition.

“Thump, thump, thump!”

His heart beat relentlessly in his chest as Richard panted “huff, puff,” his eyes wide, feeling the changes in his body.

Shortly, Richard’s brows twitched, sensing that something was off. Although his heart rate had stabilized, the internal environment of his body continued to deteriorate.

“Snap!”

Richard struggled to get up, intending to look for more potions, but found he had lost all strength to support himself. This was partly due to his injuries and partly due to the effects of the two potions he just ingested. Besides stabilizing heart rate and smoothing out blood pressure, both potions also had the effect of relaxing muscles, dilating blood vessels, and alleviating pain.

Richard just felt limp all over, his hands pressed on the table’s surface, unable to straighten his waist. He took deep breaths and struggled to turn over, then with a “thud,” rolled off the table and fell to the floor.

“Huh?!” Pandora, who had been resting in a corner of the laboratory, woke up startled, flung off her covers and sat up, her eyes widened as she looked towards Richard. Seeing Richard’s condition, her eyes rounded in shock.

Meanwhile, on the street outside Frank Tavern.

Armstrong and Mu Konni were in the heat of battle, exchanging more than a dozen spell strikes within a very short time, leaving the surrounding ground pitted and riddled with cracks.

During this skirmish, Armstrong was first hit by a spirit spell, blood streaming from his nostrils, then a silent, sneaky ice cone hit his left rib, staining a large part of his gray robe red with blood–his situation was dire.

In comparison, Mu Konni wasn’t faring much better: a ball of flames had burned away much of her clothing, and a stone bullet had hit her chest, which still throbbed with pain.

“Bang, boom!”

Armstrong and Mu Konni countered each other’s spells once more. Finding that neither gained an advantage, they quickly put distance between themselves, watching each other warily and planning their next move.

Armstrong took a deep breath, channeled the mana within his body, and forced himself to attack again.

“Crackle, crackle, crackle…”

The stone slabs on the ground around them shattered continuously, and soil kept flying out from beneath the slabs, forming spears of stone over one meter long. They hissed through the air, aiming straight for Mu Konni.

Mu Konni tried to dodge, but the stone spears kept exploding on the ground beside her, shattering to pieces. However, as the spears became faster and more numerous, it became increasingly difficult for her to evade. Out of necessity, she had to release a defensive spell.

“Swoosh!”

A streak of golden light flashed, and in front of Mu Konni, a semi-transparent golden energy shield materialized. The shield looked resplendent, with ripple-like patterns on its surface, resembling a work of art more than a magic shield.

The stone spears struck the golden shield, shattering on impact and turning into debris around Mu Konni.

Mu Konni supported the “Holy Light Guardian” shield, constantly defending against Armstrong’s stone spear attacks. After a while, the powerful stone spears were exhausted, and her surroundings were littered with pebbles and stone fragments.

Looking at the broken stones on the ground, Mu Konni snorted coldly and said to Armstrong, “Now it’s my turn to attack. You will now witness what true magic is!”

After she spoke, Mu Konni dismissed the shield and raised a hand, sending out a series of ice claws rapidly.

The ice claws, three times the size of a normal person’s arm, had razor-sharp edges that looked like five cleavers fused together–they could cleave through a person with ease.

Notably, the ice claws exuded a strong chill, reducing the speed of any living thing they neared, making it difficult for the target to dodge.

One after another, these ice claws flew towards Armstrong.

Seeing this, Armstrong realized the danger and didn’t dare to underestimate it. He blasted out a volley of stone bullets to shatter some of the ice claws, then conjured a thick stone shield in front of him using magic.

“Boom, boom, boom! Crack, crack, crack!”

The ice claws struck the stone shield one after another, shattering upon impact. A thick layer of frost covered the surface of the shield, which soon cracked.

After a short time, the stone shield was badly damaged.

The last few ice claws hit the shield, smashing it to pieces and howling as they continued towards Armstrong.

Armstrong stomped down and darted to the side, narrowly evading the ice claw attack. The next moment, a golden short wand slid out from his sleeve, and with a “snap,” he caught it in his hand. Before Mu Konni could react, he pointed at her forcefully, and mana surged out.

“Swoosh!”

All at once, the countless stone fragments and pebbles that had fallen around Mu Konni sprang to life. They lifted into the air, solidified, and formed into a massive stone sphere over two meters in diameter, enveloping Mu Konni.

Armstrong, exerting full control, compressed the volume of the stone sphere, intending to crush Mu Konni to death.

This was a deadly move Armstrong had been preparing for a long time, and now, it was finally unleashed.
