Chapter 309 - Chapter 309 Chapter 308 Hesitant to Speak

Chapter 309: Chapter 308: Hesitant to Speak Chapter 309: Chapter 308: Hesitant to Speak Standing in the courtyard, Suo Men scanned the surroundings with piercing eyes, his brows deeply furrowed.

Mu Konni, on the other hand, kept her head down and toyed with her finger, pale as scallions, and said in her magnetic voice, “I told you, there won’t be anyone else. You didn’t believe me and had to make such a fuss. Look, isn’t there nothing here now?”

“How strange,” Suo Men’s brows knitted into lumps. “As soon as I entered this courtyard, I felt weird, as if someone was secretly watching us. I felt the same way back in the alley after the auction…”

“You didn’t find anyone that time either,” Mu Konni rolled her eyes. “I think you’re just too sensitive. Besides, if there really were someone, wouldn’t they have touched the three corpses after we were gone for so long? After all, there are quite a few Magic Tools on them!”

“Perhaps…”

“Enough, enough, stop suspecting wildly. Like you said, we have other tasks to do and no time to waste here. Let’s go!” called Mu Konni.

“Alright.” Suo Men took a deep breath, somewhat unconvinced but helpless, and for the third time, stepped towards the courtyard exit.

With a wave of her hand, Mu Konni, using some unknown method, gathered up the three corpses in the yard and also left for the third time following Suo Men’s steps.

This time, the two of them never returned.

Even so, Richard, to be safe, waited a long time, not leaving the corner of the courtyard until well past midnight before he quickly departed.

Underground in the laboratory, Magic Laboratory.

When Richard returned, he saw Angel lying on the floor of the Magic Laboratory just as when he had left her, still in a faint or sleeping state.

Seeing no abnormality with Angel, Richard felt slightly relieved and reflected on the events that had transpired in Eva’s rented courtyard earlier that day, his thoughts racing.

Truthfully, the events of tonight had provided him with extensive information, no less than what he had gleaned from his first encounter with Suo Men and Mu Konni in the alley after the auction.

Among these pieces of information, some confirmed his previous speculations while others were entirely new. Previously, he had known that Suo Men and Mu Konni belonged to a Mysterious Organization with formidable power. Today, it appeared that their power was even greater than he had imagined.

The consumption of the purple Flames that unleashed the power of a Second-level Wizard, the use of potent Shaping Energy Magic, the peculiar use of Transformation Magic, the unexpected use of Spirit Magic…

If he were to encounter the two again, he would have to be cautious.

Moreover, there were other organizations eyeing the books from the Black Spirit Empire. They seemed weaker than the organization behind Suo Men and Mu Konni, but deploying three wizards, even weaker ones, should not be underestimated.

From this perspective, the secret of the Black Spirit King was indeed hiding something very important, or it wouldn’t have drawn such widespread attention.

Thinking over these points, Richard slowly withdrew his thoughts, exhaled softly, and looked at Angel, ready to resolve the matter at hand.

Looking at Angel, Richard noticed, perhaps because the floor was cool at night, that her body was curled up. The skin exposed was contracting, extremely smooth and tight, and her chest area, particularly stimulated by the cold, appeared rather defined. It evoked a pitiful, adorable impression, compelling one towards violation.

Richard squinted his eyes, stepped closer, and reached out his hand…

Angel felt her consciousness floating in endless darkness, unable to find where she came from or where she was headed, aimlessly drifting; then she felt cold.

At first, it was just a faint chill, but then the coolness intensified, wrapping around her like the icy air in a winter cellar.

Angel could hardly endure it and woke up with a start, sitting up to find herself in a graveyard outside White Stone City. The ground was damp and cold, scattered with both intact and broken tombstones. In the distance, some graves had collapsed, the coffins cracked open to reveal stark white bones. Further off, ghostly blue flames burned in clusters, like spirits wandering through the night.

Angel was shocked, her eyes wide and her mouth unconsciously agape, a sense of inexplicable panic rising in her heart, not knowing how she had arrived here. As she looked around, suddenly she saw Richard standing not far away, looking at her.

“Awake?” Richard asked.

“Um…” Angel didn’t know how to respond, weakly answering. She couldn’t fathom why Richard had brought her to the graveyard.

Was he warning her to behave, or else he would simply kill her and bury her here? Angel thought, deciding it was safer to be obedient.

Richard spoke, addressing Angel, “I have two pieces of news for you.”

“Ah?”

“The first, your teacher is dead.”

“What!” Angel’s eyes bulged, mouth agape, visibly shocked. She had indeed heard Richard planning to kill her teacher, Eva, but never imagined he would actually do it. She knew well the strength of her teacher Eva–hardly anyone in Rose City dared to provoke her. If Richard could kill her teacher, what did that mean…

“The second, your teacher wasn’t killed by me.”

“Huh?” Angel was momentarily stunned, full of confusion, “Not by you?”

“Right, not by me,” Richard said slowly, “Although, I was also prepared to kill her, since you told me she had shown hostility towards me. But… before my plans came into effect, someone else beat me to it and killed your teacher.”

“This…” Angel’s eyes flickered, her expression bewildered, unsure how to take this news.

“By rights, tonight’s event was because you came to warn me to be cautious. By doing so, you might have been discovered by your teacher Eva and consequently punished. I should be thankful to you,” Richard said.

“However, tracing back to the root, this incident happened because I saved you and we came into contact, which gave your teacher Eva a murderous intent. So, I don’t owe you any favors. Additionally, your teacher’s death is somewhat beneficial for you; at least you won’t be mistreated anymore.

“In any case, I want to leave this matter settled here. Hereafter, you don’t know me and shouldn’t try to find me, nor will I trouble you. Being a smart person, you should understand the meaning of my bringing you here to say these words.”

Angel unconsciously looked again at the surrounding graveyard scene, weakly nodding her head, “Understood… understood.”

“That’s good,” Richard said. “Then you should leave here and go back to White Stone Tower Academy. Once you’re back at the academy, you don’t need to reveal to anyone that your teacher Eva is dead; in fact, her death has no connection to you, so you don’t need to feel any guilt.

“You just need to carry on with life as usual, and after Rose City and White Stone Tower Academy confirm the death of your teacher Eva, there will probably be some adjustments. Whatever those adjustments are, they are very likely to be beneficial for you. After all, there aren’t many like your former teacher Eva.”

“Um…” Angel responded, stepping towards the exit of the graveyard. She walked a few steps, then suddenly stopped, looking back at Richard, hesitating to speak further.
