Chapter 205: Chapter 147: Did Mu Mingxuan Go Offline? (Three in One)
For Nong Chun and Jian Tian Tian, the days spent at the safe house with Jiang Ning were far more comfortable than their previous time by the seaside—by manyfold!
In the safe house, they slept in warmth and ate deliciously. Apart from not knowing when the production crew or rescue team might arrive, there wasn’t a single other thing for the two to worry about.
In Wang Ye’s room, there was rice that could be cooked into meals, an aquarium with more than a dozen fish waiting to be served on the table, and dug-up yam beans that were enough to feed everyone for several days. There were also cooked yam beans for snacking.
If things got really tight, Wang Ye and Jian Tian Tian could always go to the forest to look for wild fruit and pick vegetables. Sometimes Jiang Ning would catch one or two pheasants or rabbits to change up the menu for everyone.
The current days for Nong Chun and Jian Tiantian felt almost dreamlike in their bliss.
Wang Ye shared a similar sentiment, well-fed and clothed, with nothing to worry about.
When inspiration struck, Wang Ye would bury himself in writing or revising scripts in his room. When he was not inspired, he would leisurely sit by the riverbank with his fishing gear and fish.
However, Wang Ye’s fishing skills were clearly not as good as Qi Xingzhou’s. He could fish an entire afternoon by the river and still not catch as many fish as Qi Xingzhou could in ten minutes.
Even if he used the same grass Qi Xingzhou had used for fishing, the fish didn’t bite. They would surface, realize the fisherman wasn’t Qi Xingzhou, flick their tails, twist their bodies, and swim away without looking back, seemingly as cunning as people.
Some temperamental fish, upon seeing that Wang Ye was the one fishing, would even spit water toward him in the middle of the river, hindering his fishing. This left Wang Ye speechless and provided plenty of amusement for the audience in the live broadcast.
Wang Ye especially wanted to fish with Qi Xingzhou again, but Qi Xingzhou was clearly not someone he could summon at will.
Qi Xingzhou spent his days following Jiang Ning into the forest, uninterested in anything else.
Jiang Ning was someone determined to excel at whatever she set out to do; she would saw trees in the forest every morning after breakfast and tidy up the felled trees in the afternoon. There was not a hint of slackness in her, akin to a dedicated day job.
Qi Xingzhou followed her closely, their steps in sync, giving the live-stream audience a new level of appreciation for Jiang Ning’s execution ability.
In contrast, the lives of Huo Miao and Mu Mingxuan were much harsher.
After being beaten up by Jiang Ning and Qi Xingzhou that day, each of them nursed wounds of varying severity that made even getting out of bed a torture.
There was plenty of resentment brewing among them, inevitably leading to mutual blame.
Mu Mingxuan and Ling Bo blamed Yuan Wei and Lin Qi. If it hadn’t been for their attempt to hoard the food, how could things have ended up this way?
If they had done nothing, at least a portion of the food would have been theirs.
Now look, not only were they injured, but they also lost the food, a total loss in both respects.
Yuan Wei and Lin Qi snorted coldly, implying: they had only intended to hoard a small amount of grain. If it hadn’t been for the others joining in later, stirring up greed and moving all the food, how could they have been discovered?
They blamed each other, argued and quarreled, and the five, after just a day of cooperation, dispersed.
With no food in the kitchen, they all had to go out and find their own sustenance.
Unable to catch pheasants or rabbits, lacking the patience for fishing, they could only dig up some familiar wild vegetables near the attic to stave off hunger, spending most of their time drinking water and lying in bed to heal.
Thankfully, the attic contained medicinal supplies prepared by the production crew, which Wang Ye and Nong Chun did not hoard for themselves. Mu Mingxuan and the others, upon finding them, immediately took everything for their own use.
After several days, most of the injuries on Mu Mingxuan and his company had healed considerably, but they also grew thinner, famished thin.
[Just which company’s holographic device is this? It’s so realistic! Even the weight loss from hunger is detailed!]
[Hahaha, right? Plus, the pain from injuries too. If the production crew didn’t disclose it, who could tell they weren’t real people? Look, even they haven’t realized it. ]
[I found out, it’s Changzhou Technology Company’s equipment.]
[Changzhou Technology Company? Are you sure?!]
[Yeah, what about it?]
[Changzhou Technology Company is a subsidiary of Qi Corporation! It’s so mysterious. Although it was only established a few years ago, it has developed many smart products that have brought Qi Corporation significant profits, some even have national patents.]
