Chapter 383: Chapter 383 A Small Encounter to Showcase Strength (7)

The four men immediately looked at Ye Nai as if they were looking at a failing student.

"Isn’t it common knowledge that you can’t farm in the Secret Realm?"

"Think carefully before you speak. Can you really not farm in the Secret Realm?"

Ye Nai’s question suddenly made the four men lose their confidence, and a speculation arose in their hearts, enough to shatter decades of common knowledge.

"No way! Did you actually grow something?!"

At this moment, a large tea table, typical of a noble’s home, suddenly appeared beside Ye Nai.

On the tea table, a stainless steel bowl appeared, containing steaming sweet corn cut into pieces. Not far from the bowl, there was a bag made from cloth bag leaves, with slight tears at the corners showing signs of mild decay.

"Wow? Is this for real?!"

"Want to try some? Throw the corn cobs in this trash bag," Ye Nai said, placing a pack of tissues on the tea table.

The four of them didn’t stand on ceremony and quickly gathered around the tea table, each taking a piece.

As they brought it close to their noses, they noticed the corn was different from ordinary corn.

"Smells so good, it’s the aroma of corn." Fan Zeyang squinted his eyes, sniffing lightly.

"It doesn’t just seem like corn’s aroma, is there energy?" The secretary thought it did, but wasn’t sure.

"Yes, although it’s weak, it’s gentle." The adviser nodded affirmatively, his expression somewhat delighted.

"I’ve never eaten such fragrant corn, could it be the aroma of pre-war corn?" Camp Commander Lin contemplated, as he was only in his thirties and had no memories of pre-war delicacies.

"We should ask some elderly folks who’ve eaten corn before," the adviser said, taking a bite.

"Tastes quite good too, the texture is soft and sticky, with lots of starch, like glutinous corn. Ms. Ye Nai, is this glutinous corn?"

As they were talking, Fan Zeyang had already taken several bites, with half of the originally small chunk of corn gone, savoring the taste in his mouth.

"Yes, it’s glutinous corn. I didn’t buy the sweet corn; that one has more moisture, good as a snack but not filling."

Ye Nai then took out a bag of intact, unopened glutinous corn seeds for them to see; it was a variety of white glutinous corn.

"How’s the yield?" Fan Zeyang asked further, as anyone would be most concerned about this.

"It’s average, barely reaching an output of 800 kilograms per acre." Ye Nai shrugged slightly.

"What’s the usual yield for this variety?" Fan Zeyang continued to inquire.

"Eight hundred to twelve hundred kilograms." Ye Nai answered calmly.

"That’s acceptable, considering it’s newly reclaimed land." Fan Zeyang quickly finished the corn in his hand, tossing the cob into the leaf bag.

"This trash bag is quite interesting too," he showed some interest in this.

"It’s called a leaf bag, made from tree leaves, a disposable item. When it rots, it serves as a trash bag for kitchen waste."

Ye Nai said, taking out another brand-new leaf bag for them to see.

"Decades of research have yielded no reliable progress on farming in the Secret Realm, how did you discover the opportunity to farm?" Fan Zeyang wiped his hands with a tissue.

"There was no progress before because the time hadn’t come. When extraterrestrial ecology entered Blue Star, Blue Star’s ecology underwent a process of adaptation, acceptance, and re-evolution. It can’t be rushed, if the time hasn’t come, it just won’t work." Ye Nai’s expression was calm, as if what she was saying was common sense.

"Has the time come now?" The adviser, having finished the last bite of corn, picked up the thread of conversation.

"Of course, accomplishing in fifty years what nature would take hundreds of millions of years to complete in ecological evolution—we’ve worked hard on Blue Star." Ye Nai lifted her chin.

"But you haven’t said how you discovered this opportunity?" Camp Commander Lin tossed the bare cob, expectantly watching Ye Nai.

"It’s simple."

Ye Nai walked a few steps away, then took out a bag of small chili seeds, dug a shallow pit in the soft grass with her hard-soled shoes, placed the seeds directly inside, covered them with soil, and watered them.

The others gathered around, watching intently.

After Ye Nai finished watering, she did nothing else, but the seed sprouted.

The seedlings grew a bit, paused, then Ye Nai watered them again, and they grew a bit more with another watering, without any fertilization.

Not until they flowered did Ye Nai take out a brush for artificial pollination, pollinated the peppers herself, leading to the process of the peppers growing and turning from green to red.

Seeing the whole process left Fan Zeyang and the other three numb, standing motionless, faces full of shock.

It was only when Ye Nai picked the freshly grown small chili that they recalled Ye Nai’s profile mentioning her space-storage superpower, finding their voices again.

"No, isn’t your superpower space-storage? How can it also promote plant growth?"

Fan Zeyang couldn’t imagine what he was seeing, such an unreasonable superpower happening in one person.

"Yeah, that’s what the tests showed." Ye Nai remained very calm.

"Did you awaken multiple superpowers?" The adviser reasonably guessed, eyes full of curiosity.

"No, if you checked my records, there should be a note that on the centralized awakening day, I didn’t awaken, right?" Ye Nai tilted her head slightly, a bit playfully.

"Yes, you registered on July 1st, was it a delayed awakening?" The secretary flipped the small computer open on the table using it as a tablet, fingers tapping the screen to quickly bring up the pre-downloaded files, finding the section describing this.

"Mm, that’s what was said publicly." Ye Nai nodded in acknowledgment.

"Huh? You awakened early? But on the centralized awakening day, the Awakening Stone didn’t detect your awakening?"

Thinking this might be possible, Fan Zeyang felt it was utterly absurd, his brows furrowing tightly.

"Can the Awakening Stone make mistakes?!" Camp Commander Lin shook his head, full of incomprehension, eyes brimming with confusion.

"When you found your superpower might not be right, didn’t you go to any other Awakener Center to retest?" Fan Zeyang looked serious, as Ye Nai’s superpower was clearly beyond common understanding, requiring verification to reassure him.

"When I was planting the chili just now, did you perceive anything?" Ye Nai kindly hinted.

"What perception...?" Camp Commander Lin muttered, trying hard to recall.

"No perception..." The secretary directly shook his head.

"That’s right! No perception! We were all watching the growth of the chili, didn’t notice any Wood Element superpower stimulating plant-like superpower fluctuations from you!"

The adviser realized, using his Thousand-Mile Eye superpower to observe the environment, Ye Nai had detected his superpower fluctuations, but during the whole chili-promoting process, he didn’t have that feeling.

"Oh my!" These materialistic officers, in both life and work, now had to embrace a bit of idealism, looking at each other in disbelief.

"Vice Minister, what do we do in such a situation?" The secretary and adviser were at their wit’s end, having no idea, encountering such a situation for the first time with Ye Nai.
