Devastating The Murim with My Little Sister -
Chapter 69: Gathering...
Chapter 69: Gathering...
P.O.V - Diana.
I stood there panting.
After about twenty minutes of battle, this assassin finally knelt before us, breathing his last.
I stagger as I try to move and I almost fall but I am held up by Namgoong Yeong.
He looks at me, his eyes so clear.
I nod at him and he helps me stand properly.
Dang Woon goes to meet Dang Shoo to check on him.
Dang Shoo was in a pretty bad state.
Dang Woon had to attend to him immediately despite being wounded himself.
He asks us to help him move Dang Shoo into a room.
We move him into his room and he asks we step out.
We did so and coming out we were now properly able to embrace the scene better.
The only thing that could be seen across the hallway was blood and dead bodies.
We look at each other and I ask him;
"Um... I know you are not obligated to do so but, could help me gather the dead bodies of our fallen comrades?"
As I ask this he looks at me for a while.
I couldn’t tell what that look meant.
"Ok!" He replies, finally speaking to me properly after waking up.
"Thank you" I say to him with a little smile.
I went towards the stairs and he went towards the end of the hallway.
Together we began moving the bodies of our comrades.
While moving, aside from the staffs of the inn who were killed, we realized that a couple who had lodged in the floor below us had also been killed.
It was a sad sight to behold as the male laid over the female as if trying to protect her.
The females eyes were still opened.
It seems the male died first.
The male had a large deep slash across his back and the females neck was slit open.
We moved all the guards to the ground floor outside the inn.
"We do not have an extra carriage so we can’t take them back." I thought to myself as I stood outside alongside Namgoong Yeong looking at the dead bodies we had covered in up with long blankets.
This were all people of the Dang Clan who had decided to join the guard unit.
Not all use techniques like needles and daggers of the Dang Clan but they all practiced one of the breathing methods of the Dang Clan and had some access to the Dang Clan’s poisons so they were members of the Dang Clan.
Even after living for a long time in a place like the Heavenly Demon Cult where death was so prevalent, even after surviving the Murim with my brother alone by killing or be killed, I have never liked to see my people get killed or hurt even if they were ’Just guards’.
They were still humans.
They had families and friends who were waiting for them, but now, they won’t be able to meet those families and friends again.
David used to say I was soft but even he never felt ok when stuff like this happened.
The best thing to do would have been to take their bodies back to the Clan so they can be properly buried with their loved ones but, we have only one carriage.
We do have horses and maybe we could just ride those and put their bodies in the carriage but with our conditions right now, riding on horse back for such a long distance would be really difficult, especially for the other three since I could heal myself with the Heavenly Demon Technique.
Maybe I’ll just wait for Dang Woon to come and make a decision on how to handle this.
After standing outside for a while we turned and went back inside.
"Thank you Namgoong Yeong." I said out but my voice low.
"Its no problem at all." He replies.
We say nothing at all and we both go into our separate rooms.
I go into my room and sit on a chair.
After a while I stood up to take my bathe.
P.O.V - David.
"Thank you Namgoong Yeong." Dang So says to me.
Her voice was low.
She has been acting strange, acting down ever since after the fight with that assassin.
I guess she was really shaken by all the death.
She is still a child after all.
She was really good though.
She must have received excellent training from her Clan.
Even the Patriarch.
Even though the assassin was toying with them, they stood their ground to a certain extent.
For a Late Peak to stand his ground against a Martial Master level assassin, that is no easy feat.
This Dang Clan, they’ve always been like that, always accomplishing incredible feats.
Though I helped out it would be recorded as The Dang Clan killing a Master level assassin.
I take a look at myself and I look a mess.
I need to change.
I go take my bathe and change into a new shorts and trousers on it.
I didn’t bother wearing anything up top.
I laid on my bed with the moonlight piercing through the window into my room.
What if I died today.
I mean, that was a Master level assassin.
I would dare to say that skill aside we were really lucky.
I am sure of what I am saying since I have played such role before.
In a one on one confrontation the assassin might be at a disadvantage but that would be with facing people on his level or above his level.
A Martial Master level assassin can kill a Martial GrandMaster.
It wouldn’t be easy but using the right techniques, assassination should be possible.
So for us to face him, with all of us being of lower level than him and still win?
He was faster than us so we had no edge in a one on one confrontation.
The only thing we used was our resilience and numbers.
"So how?" I think to myself.
"Ohhh, yhh, Dang So, she was able to poison him by stabbing him from behind." I think to myself.
Yes, that’s what gradually made him fall weaker and weaker until he fell.
I wonder what poison she used.
I kept laying on my bed unable to sleep for a while when I hear a knock on my door.
I sit on my bed wondering who was there.
Maybe the Patriach?
I go to open the door and standing there was Dang So.
Her hair was still quite wet and there were little drops of water on her smooth skin.
Wait, wasn’t she wounded from the fight?
The little scars I can see are so faint they almost do not exist.
She wore a white robe revealing the middle parts of her breast.
The robe was short enough for me to see her thighs.
"If you are done staring may I come in?" She says with her head down.
"Ohh, um, yes, sorry, come in." I reply.
She goes in and I shut the door.
She goes straight for the bed and stands there.
I go sit at the edge of the bed and ask her to sit.
She sits right next to me.
I could perceive her.
I asked her to sit but I didn’t mean so close to me.
She sits there for a while without saying anything.
She must still be shaken by the whole stuff.
"Hey, are you alright?" I ask gently.
She looks at me and gives a smile.
"Yhhh." She replies.
But I could tell she wasn’t cool.
"I’m sorry for what I did earlier, I’m sorry for hitting you.
I just felt embarrassed knowing that you could have probably seen me like that." She says.
"Ohhh, that." I think to myself.
I wasn’t cool with that, but I guess I can understand where she’s coming from.
I can’t really blame her.
I just didn’t like that I was so misunderstood and even hit.
"Yhhh, don’t worry about it, it’s fine." I say to her.
"Are you sure?" She asks me, her voice soft and low.
Did it bother her that much?
Awwwnn, she so cute.
She looks like Diana when she’s trying to apologize to me.
"Yes Dang So, I’m fine." I say trying to assure her.
"And I’m sorry for the way I acted." I say further.
She begins to smile and slowly, her head leans on my shoulder.
Damn, she smells like roses and fine wine.
I felt like putting my head to hers.
Maybe I should place my hand on her head?
Maybe her shoulders?
Maybe waist?
Fuck I don’t know what to do.
"It’s fine, I was the one who was wrong in the first place." She says replying to me.
I heave a sigh and my hand goes to her head as I pat it down.
She didn’t say anything.
Rather it seemed like her body began to ease down.
This reminds me of when I pat Diana.
Yhhh, I shouldn’t be so concerned about all this.
I should just take her as a little sister of mine.
I kept patting her head and after a while I ask;
"Ummm, what kind of poison did you use on the assassin?
