Chapter 40: Cult.

Ximen Jong drops to the ground screaming.

I throw a dagger towards the Martial Master.

As he catches it.

I slide by his side and try to slash him.

He tilts as my sword is about to touch him.

I cut him but it was not deep.

Trying to get back to my feet I see his great sword swinging towards me.

I narrowly dodge it and withdraw.

Since Ximen Jong was the one giving the oders to the men in the trees, the plan was to first make Ximen Jong incapable of doing anything for a while, try to inflict a strong injury on the strongest foe present which was the Martial Master, then swiftly attack all the Martial Artists up in the trees before coming back to Ximen Jong and holding him hostage against the Martial Master to release the children while also avoiding the Spirit Beast.

I wouldn’t be using a hostage but I need to get the children safe.

Since I wasn’t able to land a strong injury, off to Plan B.

The Spirit Beast launches at me.

I turn and land a kick directly in its guts.

The hit sends it away a few distance.

Placing my leg back on the ground it was tingling.

The body of the beast was very hard.

This is going to be more tricky than I thought.

"I need to get to Ximen Jong fast." As I thought this, an arrow comes flying in my direction.

I dodge it and immediately send a dagger flying in that same direction.

Its lands directly into the head of an Early Peak as I scream in my mind;

"Headshot!"

"You, you are ..." The Martial Master tried saying something but I wasn’t ready to listen.

With both the Heavenly Demon Technique and the Phantom Technique activated I dash towards him as if about to attack him but I just slide through his side.

My aim was Ximen Jong.

The beast immediately began following me as I slid through.

The Master looked unbothered.

The beast was fast.

Faster than me.

I was ahead but it was catching up fast.

It would have caught me but I got to Ximen Jong first, rose him up and held a dagger to his throat.

The beast stopped in its tracks.

I could feel the killing intent of all the Martial Artists up in the trees but they couldn’t do much since I had their employer by his throat.

"You are also smart, I like it." The Martial Master speaks stroking his thick beards with a smile.

"What did you guys feed this children." I asked the Martial Master.

"And I heard you are also just fifteen years old." The Martial Master says ignoring my words.

Is this dude ignoring me right now?

"That hair, and those eyes, the cultivation of an Early Peak at fifteen years of age and your strength that surpasses the average Early Peak Martial Expert.

Who are you exactly?" The Martial Master asks, raising up his great sword to his right shoulder.

Does he recognize the hair and eyes?

Is he someone from the Cult?

"Let me ask you a question, who are you? and where are you from?" I question him.

He looks at me for a while and begins to speak, saying;

"The fact that you ask me those questions now must mean you understood the concept of my earlier question.

I am from a land where blood flows, a place where strength and ambition determines your standing, a place where we serve only one being.

I am Doka Min of the..."

"Heavenly Demon Cult!" We both say out together.

Ximen Jong still in pain showed confusion on his face.

"You two know each other?" He questions still in pain.

"No but we might get to know each other depending on how this turns out." Doka Min says.

"Now, who are you really? though seems to be incomplete, those seem to be features of the Heavenly Demon Technique." He asks, his voice cool and composed.

So he recognizes the Heavenly Demon Technique.

Of course he does, he’s from the Cult.

And not just any member of the cult, he’s also from the Doka family within the cult.

The Doka family is one of the seven families that rule within the Cult.

Along with the Cheon family which is the Family of "Heavenly Blood" as they would say, there are eight families.

The Cheon family was the Family from where the Leaders of the Cults come from.

They are always very few per generation.

Though competition is present, a family member or two is always left alive, just in case something happens to the one on the seat before he could have an heir or pick a disciple to become the heir.

The Cheon Family are mostly never more than three persons per generation.

Most of the times, the direct lineage of the Cheon Family becomes the heir.

But in some scenerios, a discple of the Demon Lord is picked to become the heir.

To become a true leader of the Heavenly Demon Cult, that disciple would need to become of the Cheon Family which possesses the ’Heavenly Blood’.

To then become of the Cheon Family, you would either need to drain and absorb all the Ki and Blood essence of your Master or soak in the blood pool of your Master for three days.

Even when the new heir is directly from the Cheon Family, when handing over the position of Demon Lord, the Cult Leader must pass all his Ki and Martial Arts to the heir, thereby leaving the previous cult leader unable to use Martial arts in good cases and dead in most cases.

This has always been the tradition of the Heavenly Demon Cult, until I and Diana got there of course, breaking all protocols.

So the Ximen Clan really is in contact with the Heavenly Demon Cult?

Or is it just Ximen Jong?

"Let me ask you something, is the Cult connected to the Ximen Clan? or is it just you? or is it just Ximen Jong?" I ask him still with my dagger by Ximen Jong’s neck.

He looks over at me and starts laughing.
