Chapter 34: Change.1

T.P.P

The whole room is silenced as Diana slowly opens up Hwang Bo’s neck from right to left.

She lets him go.

He drops to the floor from his chair choking on his own blood with his hands wrapped around his neck.

He could not scream, he could not speak, only whinces were heard as his life slowly faded away.

Everyone was stunned.

No one expected she would actually do that.

A fifteen year old of the Dang Clan, to the Third Young Master of the Golden Manor.

Dark Mist stood there looking helplessly at the body of his master bleeding out right before him.

Even he didn’t think she would do that.

"Y...yo...you, ho...how could you..." Dark Mist stammers his face showing sadness, shock and pain.

Dark Mist was a personal guard of Hwang Bo known as a ’Duolo’.

A Duolo in the Murim was a guard who becomes entirely tied to one Master.

Nothing is permitted to happen to the master if the Duolo is alive.

He is the eyes, the ears and sword of his Master.

Once a person becomes a Duolo, that person forfeits his/her name and takes on an abstract name picked by their master.

Mist who served Ximen Jong was also a Duolo.

So now a Duolo has watched his master be killed before him and he could do nothing about it.

He knew his Master was not the best of persons but he was still his master.

He was filled with anger.

Screaming in rage at the top of his voice he dashes towards Diana with his sword out ready to cut her down.

Diana was ready to fight back but then three long needles go flying into the back of the neck of Dark Mist stoping him in his tracks.

Three poisoned needles.

He drops to the ground unable to move with his body twitching.

Everyone watching this turns to look at the direction the needles came from.

It was from the First Daughter of the Patriarch, Dang Soha.

And there she stood, expressionless, her right arm outstretched from throwing the needles.

"What is going on here." Everyone thought in their minds.

The other guards of the Golden Manor attack Diana.

She swiftly kills them all gruesomely, spilling blood everywhere.

They were all First Rates, a total of only five.

"What do you think you are doing Dang So!" An elderly man yells in annoyance at the top of his voice.

It was the Second Elder.

Diana, her hands dripping of blood turns to look at him.

P.O.V - Diana.

I turn to look at Dang Shoo who got up from his seat yelling.

"Doing something you all were too scared to do." I reply to him.

The remaining people of the Golden Manor sat quietly in their seats too terrified to speak.

"How dare you speak that way to the Second Elder, and Dang Soha, what do you think you are doing?" The Clan Mistress snaps at me before turning to her daughter Dang Soha.

"Ohhh? This old hag?" I say to myself.

"And how do you suppose I speak to him?" I ask her.

She remained speechless.

"Dang So! what exactly do you think you are doing?" Dang Woon this time yells at me.

"As I said, I am helping you all do what you were to scared to do." I say to him.

"Wh...what are you saying, you just killed the Third Young Master of one of the biggest Merchant groups, do you know what you have done? do you know the consequences of your actions?" Dang Woon says his voice a little panicked.

Consequences? since when have I, Diana been afraid of such.

Is this really the Clan that brought my brother to the brink of death?

Where has their pride gone.

"Consequences? Since when have the Tang Clan ever feared such a thing? Since my... Since Sangdaejong attacked you all?" I raise a question out loud to the people of the Clan present.

They all remained silent, some with their heads low the others just looking at me.

I continue after a short pause;

"Yes, Sangdaejong was a nightmare, he was death sent to the Tang Clan, but haven’t you all passed that?

For those who know Sangdaejong well, you should know how he was the personification of death itself, and you all survived him, we as a Clan even if barel survived him, we conquered death.

Though the Tang Clan exists no more, the Dang Clan now exists.

Our essence remains the same.

Will you keep living in fear of the past?

Will you let the past continue to affect your judgements?"

"But only those with Power can truly move forward.

As we are like this we are no better than a second rate clan." The First Elder says.

"Power? yes Power is essential, but was it truly Power that made our ancestors rise to the top?

Was it Power alone that made the Tang Clan rise to the top?

It was not!

It was Fear!

Fear was what truly made the Tang Clan reign.

A clan feared by both the Orthodox and Unorthodox.

A clan you dare not mess with.

A Clan the Heavenly Demon Cult always had to put into serious consideration before going against anyone of the Orthodox Faction.

And why were we feared? Because of Power?

No!

What is the core of this Clan!?" I say throwing a question.

Everyone remains silent.

"I asked a question, what is the core of this Clan!?" I ask again this time my voice louder and bolder.

"Poison!" A number of people of the Dang Clan including the Elders, the Patriarch and his children respond in unism.

"Good." I say.

"And then what are our Motos?" I ask but no one answers.

"I asked a question, what are our Motos!? I asked again.

They all yell, their voice more enthusiastic with each sentence;

"Poison is a killer but is also a healer!

Kindness is to be paid back two folds and grudges ten folds!

We fear no man, we fear no monster, we fear no demon, we fear no god, the only thing we fear is being a failure to our generations!"

"So why do we all lay under rocks as failures.

What happened to your pride as a member of the Tang Clan.

Yes the name may have changed but our essence remains the same, no matter what, no matter where, no matter when.

The Tang Clan did not rise to the top with Power alone.

The fear of our poison rose us to the top.

The fear of the Tang Clan chasing you to the ends of the world after you’ve wrong them rose us to the top.

The fear of our unrelenting spirit is what rose us to the top!

The Tang Clan didn’t reign in the Murim with Power, the Tang Clan reigned with Fear!

If speaking of power alone, the Namgoong Clan stood on top but why were they below us in ranking?

Why did they dare not provoke us?

Fear!

Now where has that gone, what happened to the ruthless Tang Clan?

What happened to the Clan that even when the Emperor visits the Murim Alliance, he is told by his Special Advisors to be careful of the Tang Clan!?

What happened to our pride that a little boy would come into our lands and insult us to such degree and the only thing we think about is cowering before him and being fearful of consequences.

Oh what shame would our ancestors be looking at us with from above.

The name Sangdaejong was known far and wide as a chaos bringer, a bringer of death.

And yet, when he came knocking at our doors did we cower in fear? did we beg? did we try to negotiate?

No! we stood our ground and we fought back as proud people of the Tang Clan.

Fear is an essence of man that cannot be erased.

But what we do with that feeling of fear is what matters.

You either cower in fear or you fight back to conquer it.

Would you say that you are more fearful of this little boy than Sangdaejong?" I throw this question watching their reaction.

"Of course not." The Grand Elder says from behind me.

"So why do we act in such a disgraceful manner? in a manner not befitting of the Tang name." I say out loud.

"But what can we really do? right now we are just a bunch of weaklings and cowards." Dang Soha says throwing a question.

Her face as expressionless as always.
