Chapter 95: Chapter 95 Pack Up and Get Ready to Leave
After the Giant Stone fell, his adventurer team collapsed without a fight—there was no need to bother with them anymore, but Yang Yu still commanded Iyas and Bai Jin to continue to deal the finishing blows, provoking their counterattack.
After the fierce collision, the corridor was battered and lacerated, with bodies strewn about in every orientation, the pungent smell of blood permeating the air.
Looking at this scene, Iyas sighed, "They are from the same clan, yet you show no mercy..."
"I’m not so foolish as to let the tiger return to the mountain. Since they harbored the intent to kill me, they naturally have to face the consequences."
Yang Yu pulled his sword out of a corpse and sheathed it, then rubbed his numb shoulder,
"Well, if there were a few among them who would speak for me, or who had no intent to fight from the start, I wouldn’t mind sparing them if they admitted defeat."
While speaking, Yang Yu walked over to Bai Jin and took out the soft He Meng from her hood.
"He Meng, I’ll leave the cleaning up of the battlefield to you."
Following the principle of making use of waste, Yang Yu tossed He Meng towards the corpse of the Giant Stone.
The Giant Stone and his team members had an average level of around 41, their attributes only slightly inferior to Andro’s. If He Meng could digest them all, her power was sure to rise to a new level.
However, He Meng was unwilling a thousand times over, rolling and changing direction mid-air, landing next to the bodies, bouncing up, and ramming into Yang Yu’s abdomen.
Yang Yu reacted in time, catching He Meng steadily as if catching a basketball.
"Be obedient! Don’t miss any chance to get stronger!"
He Meng’s soft body transformed into a blue serpent, and it slithered up Yang Yu’s arm to his shoulder, then with a leap, jumped into Bai Jin’s arms.
"He Meng says she doesn’t want to—she finds the taste of flesh unpleasant," holding He Meng, Bai Jin interpreted He Meng’s thoughts for Yang Yu, "Also, back in Goblin Forest, it took half a day to swallow just a tiny goblin. To process all these bodies, it would probably take half a month."
"Then forget it."
Yang Yu couldn’t really leave He Meng here to slowly devour the bodies.
What if the sight of He Meng devouring the corpses was seen by other adventurers, and they all attacked together? What to do then?
What if they were each killed by He Meng one by one? Then how could he go about looting their kills.
Cleaning up the scene and collecting whatever spoils of war could be found into the system, Yang Yu left the corridor with Bai Jin and Iyas, and once again, they began their vigorous action of looting monsters.
Then...
"Hmm, does it feel like the equipment drop rate on this level isn’t so great? Or is it just me?"
"We’ve already hunted two monsters, and all that dropped were Gold Coins."
"We’ve been luckier on our side, with just two pieces of equipment dropped."
"Most of the monsters on the second level have been cleared. Should we go down to the third level to see?"
"Agreed—"
Unsure whether it was because Yang Yu had looted too many monsters, causing the monsters to drop significantly more Gold Coins, the dissatisfied adventurers decided to collectively head to the third level, leaving only a few teams behind to deal with the few Ogres that were left.
Seeing the opportunity, Yang Yu decided to follow the crowd to the third level; his level had gone from 29 to 35, a whole six-level increase. If these adventurers could handle the monsters in the underground city, Yang Yu wouldn’t mind giving them a hand while also training up to the full Level 40.
Stepping down the staircase, Yang Yu joined the flood of adventurers entering the third level.
The layout of the third level of the labyrinth wasn’t much different from the first two floors, the only difference being the pathways of the maze; no one could confirm if this level was as interconnected as the first two.
Following the walls and searching for monsters throughout the maze, it didn’t take long before a huge Bull-headed Monster appeared before the adventurers.
Attributes: Strength 210, Defense 389, Intelligence 96, Special Defense 263, Agility 92, Endurance 510
Resistance: Physical 20%, Magic 10%
emmmm...
Good, thick-skinned and tough, hard to damage. Time to pack up and get ready to leave.
Upon encountering the Bull-headed Monster for the first time, Yang Yu’s mind had already outlined the best course of action.
If all the people here united together, dealing with a single Bull-man wouldn’t be an issue, but...
"This monster was discovered by our team first. Leave it to us!"
"No! We found it first."
"I saw it too!"
"Then there’s no helping it, let’s do it the old-fashioned way: rock-paper-scissors, winner takes the monster."
"Just what I wanted."
Ignoring the wandering Bull-man, captains from various teams stepped forward and began playing rock-paper-scissors to decide ownership of the monster.
These adventurer teams would only truly cooperate in a crisis; otherwise, they’d only fight for their own interests.
Although a single adventurer team could possibly defeat a Bull-headed Monster, with such minute damage each time, Yang Yu had no idea how long it would take for the first Bull-headed Monster to be nearly defeated.
Even if the Bull-headed Monster was close to defeat, the combination of Bai Jin and Iyas with Yang Yu’s meager attack probably wouldn’t be sufficient to finish it off, and there was a chance others could steal the kill.
In summary, Yang Yu deduced that the monsters on the third floor were not within their current capabilities to conquer. Forcing themselves to join the adventurers in the strategy not only wasted time but also risked failure, a clear case of thankless effort.
Turning around, Yang Yu signaled to Bai Jin and Iyas, "Bai Jin, Iyas, let’s go! The monsters here are not something we can handle at our current level."
"Finally, it’s over." Iyas put away her bow and arrows and stretched, "Like you said, I do feel a lot stronger."
"And that’s no lie."
Iyas’s level had risen to 32, and Bai Jin had just managed to reach level 30; both had significantly increased their attributes.
As long as he found the right skills, Yang Yu was confident he could build a powerful Warrior, Mage, Priest team.
He would be responsible for control and defense, Iyas would handle ranged output, healing, and buffs, while Bai Jin would take care of weakening the enemy and magic attacks – together they could handle the vast majority of tasks for the team.
Taking steps towards the entrance, Yang Yu noticed Bai Jin hadn’t followed promptly,
"What’s wrong?"
"Is it because of me that we’re giving up on the strategy?" Bai Jin stood in place, head down, gripping her Magic Wand with an indescribable bitterness on her face, "Sorry, I’ve been dragging you down."
During the recent battle, she had unintentionally coughed several times, nearly interrupting her spells.
She worried whether it was her issue that caused Yang Yu to call off the strategy early.
Yang Yu responded to Bai Jin with nothing but a smile, "Don’t worry about it, what you need to think about now is getting better. I’m the one who should apologize for dragging you into the dungeon strategy; I’m truly sorry."
Although Bai Jin’s Intelligence had started to increase significantly with every level, the weak status due to her illness always lingered. Yang Yu feared that the medicine he gave Bai Jin was not addressing the root cause and that once it wore off, her levels might drop back down.
However, seeing the weak status gradually grow less severe on Bai Jin, Yang Yu still believed that she would soon overcome her illness and become a frontline force in the team.
When that time came, they might well consider attempting the Bull-headed Monster strategy again.
