Chapter 70: A Live Stream Banter

Sadie couldn’t believe what she was hearing. "Justin, you’re not being serious here, the money you’re asking for isn’t something I can find lying around."

Her brother retained his serious demeanor, he withdrew his hands and crossed them over his chest. "Playing innocent? I know that you’re living well, an actress surely pays more than I’d think. Plus you have that guy you were just with."

"Justin!" Sadie banged her fist on the table, "You’re going to far! First off, you ran off leaving me to pay off your debts. And now you think you can just treat me this way?" She got up and gathered her things.

"I’m sorry, but I will not let you have things go your way." She announced.

"You are going to regret this!" He snapped at her, but Sadie walked out on him without looking back.

She took a cab home and spent the next day indoors, waiting for Brooke to call her and give her instructions. However when her phone rang at around nine pm, it was her brother on the line.

"You cruel bitch! You dare to leave your brother in this mess? Are you even human?" Justin spat out, slinging slurs at her.

Sadie hissed, "What sort of brother are you? To only show up when you need something? Disgusting! I’m willing to give you another chance-"

"You? Give me another chance?!" He laughed loudly. "It seems you’ve forgotten who you’re talking to. Just wait for a moment and see what I do bitch!" He spat out, then disconnected the call.

Less than five minutes later, some photos were sent to Sadie’s phone, that made her drop the item in fright. She gasped and covered her mouth at the pictures on the device.

Flashes of herself in a red lingerie flooded her head, she covered her ears, in an attempt to drown out the taunting voices in her head.

The phone’s ringing forcefully pulled her out of her thoughts. She quickly picked it up, answered and then placed it to her ear. "What the hell Justin?! How on earth do you have those pictures?!"

He laughed hysterically over the phone, ignoring her question.

"Hey! Answer me damn it!" she raised her voice, screaming at him.

"Meet me in an hour. I’ll explain everything to you then." He replied, right before he disconnected the phone.

He shared the location for their meeting, then blocked her number so she couldn’t call or even message him.

Sadie chewed on her lower lip, her eyes watered, "I finally have a chance, to act. I-I can’t let this go to waste." Armed with that conviction, she quickly changed clothes and dashed for the location.

But upon arriving at the location, which was a park, the person she met was president Lucas, who looked like he had just arrived and had a worried look on her face. The moment he laid eyes on her he rushed over to her and grabbed her by the shoulders.

"Are you okay Sadie? What happened?" He asked, his eyes searching her body for any wounds.

"I’m fine! But why are you here?" Her eyes frantically scanned the area for her brother. But she couldn’t see him anywhere.

"I got a call from your brother, he sounded panicked, saying you were hurt and begged me to come help you. He sent me your address, but I called an ambulance on my way here." He informed her.

Sadie shook her head, "There’s no need for an ambulance, as you can see I’m fine. But I think my brother played us both for fools."

Lucas frowned, "I don’t understand what is going on here. Why would your brother lure you out here?" He asked, leading her towards the nearest bench to sit.

She sat next to him and tucked her hands into her thighs. "I don’t know what he wants now, but it can’t be anything good." She sighed, "I really screwed that kid over."

"I don’t have a say in your family issues, but I want to make sure of something. That boy, he’s not in any way harming you is he?" He inquired, his tone delicate.

The photos from earlier flashed before her eyes, but she dismissed the idea. The last thing she wanted was to burden the president.

"No, we’re just having a sibling’s fight. I’m sorry you were dragged into his childishness." She got up and apologized.

Lucas got up in turn and took off his coat, he passed it to her. "Put it on, the weather is cold." He said, then walked a bit further to call the ambulance and cancel.

"Let me drive you home." He offered.

Sadie nervously scratched the back of her neck, "I don’t know, wouldn’t it cause problems? I can just call for a taxi." She offered, still unsure of her brother’s intentions.

’Why would he call us both out? What is he planning?’

"Don’t argue Sadie, it’s unsafe. A lot of Cassie’s fans are still on your throat. I already made up my mind about this, so no more arguing. Please." He offered, getting into the driver’s seat.

Defeated, she nodded and got into the passenger’s seat.

Unbeknownst to her, Justin was just around the corner, holding a camera in his hand, taking photos of them.

*Present*

"This is bad! Miss Brooke Cassie just started a live stream! And she’s saying all sorts of bullshit!" Hannah spat out, passing her phone to Brooke.

Brooke took the phone and stared at her mother and sister making utter fools out of themselves online.

"These two can’t just stay put." She hissed, passing the phone back to Hannah. Hannah in turn switched off her phone and let out a huff.

"Miss Brooke, I don’t understand. Why would this woman go out to see this producer at such a crucial time? This friend of yours just landed herself in a lot of trouble." Hannah deduced, as she wheeled Brooke towards thr garden area.

It was nearly time for her outdoor treatment.

Brooke could tell that some sort of fowl play was in order, but she just couldn’t tell the angle it was coming from. She tried calling Sadie a lot of times but she wouldn’t answer. And when she asked Mr Grayson if she could check at her house, he advised her against the idea.

"I hate this helpless feeling! I don’t think I can wait still like this anymore!" She announced, then turned on her phone. She logged into the Livestream and sent a request to join.

At first she thought her sister wouldn’t respond, but to her greatest shock she quickly added her to the stream.

Brooke stared at the ten thousand and counting watchers, who had joined the live in less than twenty minutes of it starting.

"Brooke, what is it that you want to say? Is having my father imprisoned not enough for you?" she spat out, crying even harder.

Her mother seconded, "My husband is innocent of all those charges. Don’t you have a conscience at all-" her words were drowned when Brooke swiftly chimed...

"I don’t think I follow. How come you both have gone on live stream, more times than you’ve gone to the prison?" She asked, feigning curiosity.

The comments came flooding in.

User_045: This woman is so frustrating! Why isn’t anyone arresting her?

User_557: Look at this bitch kicking people when they’re down! Smh!

User_221: But she has a point tho. Just saying...

Serena glared, "You-"

But Cassie covered, bringing the camera closer to her face. "I can’t bear to see my father in that state..."

Brooke inserted, "If your father was so innocent, then why has he been in prison for two days? Shouldn’t you have gotten him out sooner? Or is your love that fickle?"

Cassie kept her sad expression, "First you spread false allegations with that partner of yours. Are you both so desperate to take me down?" She sniffled, "There are limits to your jealousy."

Hannah wanted to go into the phone and yank Cassie by the hair, then smack her face a couple of times until some sense went into her brain.

Cassie went on, "I wondered how you got to know I was originally picked for that role. It seems your buddy Sadie, was feeding you intel all this while. Tell me Brooke, is that how far you’re willing to go?" Her tears rushed out like a waterfall.

Serena rested her hands on Cassie’s shoulders, comforting her. "You be should be ashamed of yourself! You put womanhood to shame! You won’t let go of your jealousy, and your friend is very ambitious, but likes to cut corners. Instead of working hard, she chooses to sleep around for roles, isn’t that just shameful?"

"And you dare blame my husband? What an audacious woman you are!" Serena snarled at her daughter, earning so many hateful comments.

Serena and Cassie discreetly stole glances at each other, certain that they had crushed Brooke’s morale completely. However, nothing couldn’t prepared them for the assault that followed shortly...
