Chapter 47: Cassie’s Anger Outlet

As soon as Luther disconnected the call he went to his office to handle the calls rushing in from their sponsors, lashing out at Cassie’s involvement in a scandal.

Just as he finished handling the last call, a knock on his office door divided his attention.

"What is it?" He snarled at Sadie the moment she walked inside.

"Um, sir I’ve prepared my resignation letter and statement." She said, then dropped both on his desk.

"What the fuck is this?" Luther spat out, not even bothering to read what she had drafted up.

She clutched tightly onto her bag as she spoke, "I’ve decided to quit the agency, and as per our contract, I’ll wire you the money a week after my termination has been finalized. We did initially agree to that."

Luther had an irritated look in his eye, Cassie was going around the city stirring trouble, while Brooke had suddenly come back from hiding and being a thorn in his side.

"And just where will you get the money to pay me what you owe?" Luther interrogated.

"Sir, that is my business." She firmly replied, "I’ve calculated the remaining interest I owe you and added the contract termination fee under our company policy to the amount stated there. All I need is your signature on those documents."

Luther inwardly hissed.

In truth, he didn’t care whether or not Sadie stayed, he didn’t sense any talent whatsoever in her. However, he used her as an outlet for Cassie’s tantrums and fits. With Brooke gone, his daughter needed something to take her anger out on.

And he wasn’t about to let this one go.

He opened the document, and picked up a pen next to him. Sadie beamed with smiles, under the impression he was going to sign.

Luther flung the document at her, grinning from ear to ear. Sadie crouched down and picked it up, only for her face to turn pale.

"What is this?" She asked, devastated.

Luther wore an all knowing look on his face as he said, "I can’t sign that when it’s all wrong. Just look at the amount you inputted, it’s all wrong."

Sadie stared at the extra zero he had added to the amount she carefully calculated. "Sir, there is no way I owe this much-"

"Sadie, don’t get ahead of yourself. The deal was that I’d deduct the money you owe from your salary. But let me ask you this, how many times in total were you even on screen this year? How much do you think you even earn?" Luther wore a sadistic smile.

Sadie was used to seeing a one tenth of all her coworkers salaries on her paycheck at the end of a job. So she assumed she earned the same thing, or even more.

But now, Luther was saying she earned less than that?

"I would be happy to sign those, and I’ll even let you pay me back within a week, that’s if you can somehow gather the money you actually owe me." He said, holding back a laugh.

Seeing the miserable look on Sadie’s face somehow lightened his mood.

"That isn’t fair! How can...How can you do this to me?!" She spat out already in tears.

All this while she was walking around in circles? The amount he had came up with just now was close to the initial amount she owed.

Did she endure everything for nothing?

"But be warned Sadie, if you leave and can’t pay me back on time, don’t blame me if the media starts posting about your involvement with loan sharks." He threatened in an aggravating tone.

A cold shiver cascaded down her spine. "You swore to bury that from the press."

"Yes, but you’re the one breaking your promise first. You’re not even a famous actress, but even the smallest scandal could ruin you. And an actress with ties to loan sharks won’t make it very far in this business." He ruthlessly told her, crushing all her hopes.

Luther got up from his seat and circled over to a crying Sadie. He reached for her face, and pushed back her bangs, to reveal the scratches and wounds underneath it.

Cassie’s doing.

"You might not be a good actress, but you could service me in another way to pay that debt." He traced his hand from her forehead, down to her cheek and then slowly ran his index finger from her neck towards her cleavage.

However Sadie used the document to slap Luther right across the face.

"No!" She raised her voice, stunning him.

"You damned bitch-" he tried to grab her, but she ran out of the office crying, leaving the door wide open.

Luther wanted to chase after her, but his phone vibrated on the table. He grumbled under his breath, swearing to get back at her as he marched over to the table.

He picked up the phone, only for it to be his wife calling.

"What is it?" He hissed.

"It’s Ethan! He’s been arrested!" Serena panicked.

Luther gasped, "What?!" Their main investor had been arrested? How did that information not reach him first?

"I don’t know what happened, but he was in an accident. It’s trending all over social media, all my friends at the club are talking about it! What do we do?" Serena panicked.

"You said he was in an accident? Who was the other person? Did they die?" He frantically asked.

"No, I hear they’re fine, just the car that was damaged." She said retelling what she heard the women at her club say.

"What? Then why would the police arrest him?!" Luther panicked.

Ethan is the richest man in the city, who would dare try and arrest him? Who could be that foolish?’ he shook his head.

No one in the police could be stupid enough to consider taking the arrest seriously and over a mere accident too. Just what the hell could’ve happened that Ethan actually got arrested?’

Brooke’s heart raced wildly, pounding in her chest. Her lips parted, her throat dried, and her eyes froze in shock from the sudden position switch.

Thane towered over her, his arm wrapped tightly around her waist. His eyes burned with intensity, fixed on her lips. A sly smile crept onto his face as he thought of something, his gaze seductive.

"How about a little practice?" he asked, his voice low and smooth, with a hint of mischief.

As he leaned in closer, his hot breath whispered against her skin, sending shivers down her spine. His lips hovered inches from hers, ready to steal a kiss...
