Chapter 43: A Car Crash

-Primestar Agency-

The staff huddled in groups of three or larger, watching the public embarrassment of Brooke with unhappy faces.

Just like Sadie, they all knew Brooke was far from what the rumors made her out to be.

However, one person was ecstatic at what was happening, and cackling so loudly it sullied the mood.

"Ahahaha! Serves this bitch right!" Cassie exclaimed, as she walked towards the elevator, watching the livestream.

The staff exchange bitter glances with each other.

"Isn’t she supposed to be on leave?"

"Why does she keep showing up every single day?"

"Isn’t her stomach getting a bit rounded?"

The workers words failed to reach Cassie’s ears, as all she could think of was how to make Brooke suffer even more that she already was.

"Oh, I know." She spread her lips into a thin lipped smile. She took out her phone and called her driver, who she had sent away to pick up her laundry.

"Come back now! I have somewhere you need to take me!" Cassie screamed into the phone, then ended the call.

"Hmph! I have to see my darling Brooke wallowing in pain at least one last time." She shook her head, "What an imbecile! How dare she try to eat my leftovers? Serves you right, you attention whore!"

She made a U-turn for the elevator, and made another call as she got in. The other person didn’t answer immediately, she had to try about three more times before they finally responded.

"I’ve warned you never to call me when I’m working!" Ethan spat into the phone.

Cassie rolled her eyes, "I’m sorry." She forced herself into saying. At the back of her mind, she wondered what attracted her to him, when there were men like the Grayson heir vying for her attention.

"But, I just thought to let you know what your wife has been up to recently." Cassie smiled wickedly as the elevator landed at the grand floor.

"What do you mean?" Ethan’s voice mellowed.

"I’ll send you a link I think you’ll find very interesting." She announced then disconnected the call.

She got into her car and told the driver where to take her. Crossing her legs in the backseat, she read all the hateful comments about Brooke, and it made her smile even more.

"You should’ve just stayed out of my sight, but now, I’ll make you regret everything, you lame bitch!" She cursed, as the car sped towards the scene of tension.

Sitting in the car parked directly behind Brooke’s, was none other than Damien, the leading male actor in the country, who had the hearts of all the women in his palm.

"Sir, please remind me why we’re here to begin with?" His manager Nia asked, looking around for any reporters that could’ve spotted Damien’s car.

He replied calmly, "I said I wanted to see the leading lady first before I make my decision."

"But this is just an audition-"

Damien crossed one leg loosely over the other, "I want to see the caliber of women this joke of a production company can pull off. You said the president was Lucas..."

Nia interjected, "Lucas Slade. The heir to Apex constructions."

"That company that went under last year?" Damien raised a brow.

Nia nodded, "After his father’s retirement, the management of the company was under his two elder sisters. However, his father was traditional and willed the entire business to Lucas."

Damien hissed, "And when the little deadbeat took over, all hell broke loose and the company’s shut down." Being the son of Ethan’s rival company, Damien knew a lot about the business circle.

"But what made the runt think he could pull off a production company?"

Nia shook her head, "I’m unsure, but I wouldn’t advise taking this role. We have your image to look after, both as an actor and in the business. Your father won’t be pleased to hear you getting involved in anything scandalous."

Damien rolled his eyes. "You should know by now I couldn’t give a single fuck about what he thinks. But," he groaned, "I don’t think anything interesting will happen-"

"Sir! You have to see this." Nia cut him off, flashing her screen in front of him.

"What am I looking at?" Damien asked, when he stared at the livestream happening.

"It’s the number one search topic for the past five minutes, with over three hundred thousand people watching." Just as she said that, some people arrived with angry signs and started a protest outside.

"This woman has some nerve coming here, does she think she’ll get the role? Or is this just some publicity stunt?" Nia questioned angrily, failing to see why Cassie’s stalker would come for a role.

Moreso a role that Cassie rejected.

"Hmm," Damien stared at the screen critically, particularly at Brooke who kept trying to get up despite getting pushed down, "I don’t know what her intentions are, but she’s daring, I’ll give her that."

"Let’s watch and see what-" in the middle of his sentence, he noticed a luxurious car park outside of pocket change productions.

Coming from a wealthy family, he knew a high grade car when he saw one.

"That’s a limited edition." He noted under his breath, rolling his window down to get a better view.

"Sir? What are you doing? There are people outside " Nia questioned,

But Damien’s thoughts were too preoccupied with the car that pulled over, so were the protesters outside.

He pinched his chin, "Just who in this city is driving that car" he thought, waiting to see who would step out of it.

At the same time another car roughly pulled over, nearly tossing some people off the street. The driver was so reckless, they ended up crashing into the side of the limited edition car!

Damien gasped! Looking at that car, he was certain it was over fifteen million dollars!

"Who the hell is the idiot driving that car?!" Damien balled his fists, outraged by the wreckage.

He immediately got his answer when Ethan angrily got out of his car and banged on the glass of the limited edition, unaware of the huge load of trouble he had placed himself in!
