Deliberately Approaching
Chapter 321 - 315: Intercept mid-way

Chapter 321: Chapter 315: Intercept mid-way

After hours of travel, a black business van slowly exited the highway toll gate.

Yuan Feng sat stiffly in his suit in the back seat, his gaze fixed on what lay ahead, seemingly nervous about the imminent arrival at Li Garden.

Xiao Min... could she really be sick?

He stroked his graying hair, asking himself in silence, feeling it strange that Li Zishen had sent two black-clad bodyguards to pick him up.

To Yuan Feng, this hardly seemed like a nephew welcoming an uncle— it was more like an armed escort.

Could it be because of... that matter?

No, Xiao Min couldn’t possibly have told Zishen, she absolutely wouldn’t say anything.

But why take away my phone?

Afraid I’d make a call? Could it be that Xiao Min... she doesn’t even know I’m coming?

As Yuan Feng speculated on Li Zishen’s intentions, a black sedan suddenly sped past them on their right and blocked their way.

The driver immediately let out a shock, swiftly turned the wheel, and slammed on the brakes, skidding a long mark on the ground, stopping less than two meters from the sedan.

"Damn it, what’s going on?" the driver gritted his teeth, his eyes full of rage.

From the sedan, a young man with an expressionless face slowly opened the door, walked over to the business van, and knocked on the window.

The driver rolled down the window and bellowed, "How do you drive?"

The young man twisted his neck, then responded with a smile, "Sorry, I’m here to pick up Dr. Yuan. Our boss wants to meet him."

"Your boss?" The driver hesitated for a moment, puzzled as he looked toward Yuan Feng.

At that moment, in the business van, two tall men opened the doors and got out. They were bodyguards sent by Bai Long to Blue City, tasked with safely delivering Yuan Feng to Li Garden.

"No need to waste words with him," one of the bodyguards said seriously with a wave of his hand.

The driver nodded, "Okay."

The car door slammed shut.

Immediately, the two bodyguards locked eyes with the young man mere inches away, their glances filled with caution and vigilance.

"Then... let’s take on both at once."

Neither bodyguard said a word, one of them glanced at the business van out of the corner of his eye, standing still, while the other took two steps outwards.

"For fairness, let’s stick to one-on-one."

"Fine, that works."

The smile slowly faded from the young man’s face as he fixed his gaze on the bodyguard who had just spoken, a glint of coldness flashing in his eyes.

Suddenly, his figure moved like lightning, fast as a gust of wind, and he lunged at the bodyguard, his fist hammering fiercely towards the bodyguard’s chest.

Fortunately, the bodyguard reacted quickly, immediately raising his arm to block. However, the young man’s punch was surprisingly powerful, pushing the bodyguard back a step.

The young man charged again instantly, swinging his right fist towards the bodyguard’s face.

The bodyguard let out a roar, meeting the oncoming fist with one of his own. Their fists collided, emitting a dull thud. The young man was forced back two steps by the impact, but the bodyguard steadied himself.

Seeing this, the other bodyguard rushed toward the nearby young man. His fists rained down like a torrential storm on the young man’s body. The young man, fending off attacks from both sides, looked for a chance to counterattack.

The three men engaged in a fierce fight by the roadside.

After a fierce battle, the young man gradually started to lose ground. The two bodyguards, working seamlessly, forced him back step by step.

"Die!"

"How dare you attempt a carjack!"

"Die!"

Just as the bodyguards were getting ahead, the young man suddenly leaped up with the force of a cannonball at one of the bodyguards. His fists clenched, they struck at the bodyguard’s head like two iron chains.

The bodyguard, seeing this, immediately raised his arms. Yet the young man’s strength was immense, shaking the bodyguard back several steps, nearly toppling him over.

Taking advantage of the moment, the young man dashed towards the business van, intent on forcibly taking Yuan Feng.

...

Ten minutes later, in the lobby on the first floor of Li Garden.

Chen Xin had just finished assigning tasks to the bodyguards and was now frowning deeply as he looked outside the window.

"Ah, I hope everything goes smoothly for Bai Long."

"You, you’ve got to come back safe, you still owe me a meal."

As he was muttering to himself, his phone suddenly rang. He saw it was a call from one of Bai Long’s men and quickly answered the call.

"Speak, this is Chen Xin."

"Brother Xin, it’s Wu Qiang," Wu Qiang’s urgent voice came through on the phone, "Our car ran into trouble on the way into the city... seems like we’ve been marked by someone."

Chen Xin wasn’t very clear about the recent incidents in Jin City, as his only duty was being a driver.

Before Bai Long left for Chicheng, he had made a call to Wu Qiang, telling him that he would be out of Jin City for two days and should contact Chen Xin directly in case of emergency.

That was why he made this call for help.

Chen Xin furrowed his brow: What happened, "Where are you now?"

"That person said they were there to pick up Dr. Yuan to see their boss," Wu Qiang explained, "We are now... just past the No. 58 gas station... about 300 meters away."

"Don’t panic, keep driving forward, our men should be able to reach you in no more than twenty minutes."

"Okay, Brother Xin!"

After hanging up, Chen Xin quickly arranged for nearby bodyguards to go and support Wu Qiang.

The sudden turn of events made him even more worried about the safety of Bai Long and led him to suspect that the true intention behind the scenes was not merely to coerce Li Zishen into rescuing Du Jiahao, but that they had other motives.

Meanwhile, inside the business van, Yuan Feng sat in the back seat with a grave expression, looking at the driver.

"That... how much further?"

"Don’t worry, Dr. Yuan, we’re almost there."

The driver, while mashing the accelerator to speed up, assured Yuan Feng with a very determined gaze.

The van sped along the ring road, the scenery swiftly changing by the roadside. Yuan Feng’s heart felt as if it were in his throat; he gripped the armrest tightly, his body sweating profusely.

He had no idea who the young man’s boss was.

He had no clue if the bodyguard was dead or alive.

Suddenly, a black sedan appeared in front, darting out from the roadway on the right and quickly aligning parallel to the business van.

Inside the black sedan, a middle-aged man revealed a hint of a cold smile. His eyes were fixed on the business van, as if searching for an opportunity.

The black sedan suddenly accelerated and slammed into the business van. Wu Qiang was startled and hastily stepped on the brakes while violently turning the steering wheel.

The shrill sound of metal grinding against metal was intermittent.

Eventually, the business van lost control and tumbled into a ditch by the side of the road.

During the rollover, Yuan Feng was thrown from his seat by the strong impact, his vision went pitch-black, and then he lost consciousness.

About ten minutes later, Yuan Feng slowly opened his eyes. He found the area around him in disarray, with objects scattered everywhere; his own body was trapped inside the vehicle, immobile.

Seeing Wu Qiang still bleeding from his head, he wanted to reach out to help, but he had no strength left and could only produce faint sounds from his throat.

"Wake up, please... wake up."

At that moment, he thought he heard voices and the sound of the car door being violently tugged.

"Wu Qiang, Dr. Yuan, Wu Qiang?"

Enduring the intense pain, Yuan Feng tried his best to respond: "I’m, I’m here... save him quickly... hurry."

But his voice was too weak!

Then he faintly heard someone smashing against the car window glass. This sound brought joy to his heart, knowing help had arrived.

However, due to excessive blood loss, Yuan Feng’s breathing was growing weaker, and he soon closed his eyes again.
