Chapter 474: Chapter 472: Green Star Civilization

In the midst of this discussion, the conference room quieted down once more.

People pondered for a while then inquired once again, "Respectable Tos Civilization, we ask you one final question, aside from modifying your own innate drive for genetic enhancement, is there truly no other path to ascend to a Level 5 Civilization?"

The other party answered, "No, it’s not the only way, it’s just a relatively good method. Some races with extraordinary intelligence inherently possess the ability to directly ascend to Level 5 or even Level 6 civilizations."

"But the vast majority of civilizations, despite exerting all their efforts, can only reach the stage of a Third-level or Fourth-level Civilization. Following this, the pace of progress slows down and it requires time to slowly accumulate."

"You must understand, once a scientist spends his entire life’s strength and achieves no progress, for him it is undoubtedly a disheartening affair. If the number of such individuals increases, an entire civilization may likely lose the drive to advance... A civilization is not an individual; it cannot progress simply because it wants to. However, the progress of a civilization requires the cumulative effort of countless individuals."

"Therefore, modifying one’s own genetic philosophy is a relatively good method during this prolonged darkness."

Everyone present looked at each other and smiled bitterly. Humans as a species, should probably not be considered as having a particularly high racial value. Among the wise species investigated so far, humans are merely ranked slightly above average. The Badit people, naturally capable of living for thousands of years and possessing strong memory, are far superior to humans.

If the development limit of the Badit people is a Fourth-level Civilization, then the upper limit of human intelligence could likely only be at a Third-level Civilization.

Human intelligence has its limits; even with constant brain enhancements, increased memory, enhanced processing speeds, improved logical thinking abilities, and so on, there are still innate deficiencies.

For instance, humans find it hard to imagine what having "Magnetic Field Perception" feels like, or what it’s like to have "3 eyes," let alone understand "four-dimensional perception."

Such limits require spending a lot of time and learning from more diverse intelligent life forms to gradually break through.

However, a civilization is dynamically changing. If it does not advance, it will regress. Civilization is constituted by individuals; merely shouting a slogan won’t keep the individuals striving for a goal for long. They also have their own thoughts; since effort yields no results, they might as well not bother.

As time slowly passes, the social atmosphere within a civilization will become increasingly indolent, becoming a Sinking Civilization.

Thus, modifying one’s own driving force emerged, encouraging oneself to continually advance. If a certain goal becomes as essential as eating and drinking, then even spending hundreds of thousands of years will not lead to complete degradation.

After a good while, having discussed related issues, the human diplomatic team finally replied a bit regrettably, "Thank you for your answers, we are very grateful."

"You’re welcome, there will be many more opportunities for us to interact in the future. I hope your civilization will continue to progress."

"I also hope that your civilization will continue to progress."

The last phrase was also a common courtesy in trade markets, as continuous progress is ultimately beneficial.

Inside the spaceship, it was quiet; people could even hear their own breathing and heartbeat. They still had many unanswered mysteries, but for now, it was inappropriate to press this civilization for more answers.

The new humans would continue to trade with more interstellar civilizations; after all, getting a bit more information down the line wouldn’t hurt.

Blindly trusting a civilization is definitely unwise.

...

In this way, two months quickly passed. The people on this spaceship had already traded with five different civilizations, exchanging various technologies while also acquiring a lot of interstellar knowledge...

First, about the "Deep Red Industrial Union" - it’s the newest civilization in the Milky Way dedicated to exporting revolution to other civilizations.

Some interstellar civilizations feared this powerful alliance, but others revered it. Opinions varied among the lower-level interstellar civilizations, adding a layer of complex intrigue.

"... We believe that such an alliance is powerful yet full of goodwill. It has defeated many interstellar civilizations of species with high potential for habitual slavery. How great, how admirable! Most of our population even wishes to join such an alliance!"

"..."

"The Milky Way is vast and has species that naturally possess extremely high intellectual potential, far surpassing normal species. However, because they started late and were discovered by other interstellar civilizations, they are enslaved. Without someone to rescue them, they would be enslaved forever, never attaining freedom!"

"There are endless Ordinary Civilizations in the world! The Milky Way, galaxy clusters, even the entire Universe are infinite, filled with countless species! Either enslaved by other species or by their own class systems... An alliance full of towering rage has made exporting revolution its driving force... Ah!"

Such goals seemed very abstract, almost like an elusive slogan, but some civilizations really pursued this.

Moreover, they were far more powerful than humans, and formidable.

Regarding the Level 5 Civilization "Deep Red Industrial Union’s" brilliant achievements, it eradicated its first equal conflict against the infamous Green Star Civilization.

"The creatures of Green Star Civilization originated from the oceans, developing into super lifeforms. As their oceanic planets lacked land and the ability to create fire, metal smelting through conventional means was challenging, making their advancement into the interstellar era even tougher."

Yet, the Green Star Civilization evolved and mutated, developing a unique ability. They could extract metals from the ocean using biological organisms themselves, biologically smelting various chemical substances. Moreover, their brains were exceptionally developed, and this Level 5 Civilization had early on developed a complete system for biological smelting; their technology tree was entirely distinct.

"During their development, owing to their unique technology tree, the Green Star Civilization did not cause much environmental damage to their home planet. They viewed this as normal."

"In their ideology, if technological development damaged the environment of their home planet, then undoubtedly, they considered themselves as pests to the planet. As they roamed the stars, they would destroy intelligent species that harmed their own planet’s environments, presenting this as fairness for the development of other life forms on their planet."

A short alien with a large head was animatedly sharing insights on a screen.

There was no doubt that this alien was a fervent supporter of the Deep Red Industrial Union.

As Humans, being newcomers to the trade market of interstellar civilizations, could always bring more trade, such transactions were mutually beneficial. Thus, these aliens did not mind sharing some free information after completing trades.

"Over tens of thousands of years, the Green Star Civilization destroyed hundreds of civilizations that had undergone the Industrial Revolution, repulsed by thick smoke and contaminated water resources..."

"...finally, they encountered the Deep Red Industrial Union, and thus, a true war sparked by ideological differences erupted."
