Chapter 464 - 462 Noah Faction
Chapter 464: Chapter 462 Noah Faction
In the vast Universe, it’s impossible for all civilizations to revere freedom, equality, and to be filled with friendliness; there inevitably exist all sorts of bizarre beings.
Zhao Qingfeng continued, "And the method of spreading this brainwashing culture has huge benefits for the primary civilization, the Alef Civilization. On one hand, it can attract talents from various affiliated civilizations, with their influence growing exponentially. Among all these native barbarians, there will always be one or two who stand out. Just discard all the rubbish and keep only the outstanding ones."
"On the other hand, the military potential of such civilizations is far greater than that of normally developed civilizations. Some affiliated civilizations, even if annihilated by an enemy, are not a big deal, and they can’t possibly affect the main body. In a real war, they seem to be even tougher than conventional civilizations..."
Zhang Yuan nodded in deep agreement; only culture is capable of transcending the rivers of time and distance, stretching to the other end of the starry sky.
As long as the culture does not perish, the civilization can exist for a long time.
Even if there is no communication for a long time, as long as cultures are interconnected, they can easily re-merge.
But these natives, who fervently abandoned their own cultures—are their civilizations still the same as before?
Of course not! The thoughts and modes of thinking in their minds are all the same as those of the Alef Civilization; this certainly is not the original civilization.
Just as with Ancient Egyptian Civilization, the once great Persian Empire, the cultural inheritance is gone, and now on that land live only a group of Arabs. Why is there only one left of the Four Ancient Civilizations? Because the cultures of the other three have disappeared...
If one even abandons one’s own cultural heritage, transforming one’s respected ancestors into "Alef Civilization," even if the genes remain the same, what’s the point?
To get back on track, in the Milky Way there isn’t something like a world police, nor is it likely that any civilization will have a bursting sense of justice, ready to forcefully confront such religious civilizations.
Hence, upon discovering this harsh reality, the human leadership at the time speculated that the Alef Civilization might be spreading its cultural concepts like locusts, assimilating other civilizations, and even a significant part of the Orion Arm might have been assimilated.
After gathering the basic intelligence, the Kunlun Mountain Fleet quickly departed, avoiding too much interaction with these low-level civilizations. And certainly, it couldn’t engage in war with such rubbish civilizations; even if humans won, they wouldn’t gain anything.
Subsequently, after completing the Auxiliary Brain project, the then-leaders began to massively strengthen the military, which is why there was the "Radiant Galaxy" and an even larger scale of military fleets...
Reflecting on this information, Zhao Qingfeng added, "So, do we humans have the possibility of assimilating other low-level civilizations like the Alef Civilization does? A meeting was held at the time specifically to discuss this issue."
Zhang Yuan slightly nodded; if some low-level civilizations could be assimilated, at least a defensive network could be built, which wouldn’t be bad.
Zhao Qingfeng paused for a moment, "The answer is, it’s not possible! Because the very ideologies and political systems of humanity do not allow such actions. You see, to forcibly assimilate other civilizations would surely provoke immense domestic opposition."
"People believe that humans are elegant, just, and that they value freedom and equality, which culturally is incompatible with such a system."
"It’s not a big deal to recruit a few outstanding alien scientists, but forcibly assimilating other species will inevitably lead to internal chaos. That is a cost we cannot bear."
"Furthermore, such a grand endeavor, a massive plan, would require a huge population and a strong industrial sector to implement. Unless we were to involve all our population and establish a religious-like caste system, the loss would not be worth the gain."
Zhang Yuan breathed a sigh of relief, "Yes, I also disagree with this plan. Bringing in some low-level civilizations to join ours is too likely to lead to collapse. The Alef Civilization might have a very cruel internal class mechanism, and it’s not easy for us to mimic the entire system."
"If there is an affiliated civilization with decent potential, it might be worth a try. But the loyalty of an affiliated civilization is also an issue... If they become powerful, they might rebel; if they are weak, they are of little use."
Next was the second interstellar civilization they encountered, which had occurred seventy years ago when the Radiant Galaxy together with the Kunlun Mountain came across this interstellar civilization near the Cosmic String.
Humans merely brushed past this unknown civilization amidst the Cosmic Strings, with no conflicts arising between them.
At that time, the fleet had hailed the other party and once asked about the so-called "Alef Civilization." The response they received was truly startling.
"Unknown civilization, greetings to you, this is the standard practice of the Noah Faction’s interstellar civilizations. When they discover a native planet, they usually adopt a strategy of indiscriminate assimilation."
"Some civilizations within the Noah Faction believe that there are countless mundane civilizations in the universe that will never set foot in the stars; rather than cautiously helping them and nurturing their growth, it’s better to assimilate them directly, replacing their barbaric culture that could never progress with a superior culture."
"You will need to pay 1.22 AmiBa Points in order to obtain detailed information on Level 5 Civilizations."
This civilization seemed to have little interest in communication, or perhaps this piece of information was indeed quite important. Humans did not possess AmiBa Points, and it was impossible for them to fire a "Ten-thousand-year Worm" at such a venerable civilization, so they had no choice but to let it go.
However, from these fragments of information, one could infer much more.
This faction’s ideology... is too domineering!
"So, it means that there are civilizations other than the Alef Civilization adopting this approach, and a whole faction that follows subsequently, known as the Noah Faction."
"Or should I say, the Noah Faction is the collective term for this series of civilizations?"
Zhang Yuan couldn’t help but give a bitter smile, "They actually believe that what they are doing is saving the entire Universe! Well, there are indeed too many low-level civilizations, and most of them are like trash; join us, follow my model, and you will be able to develop."
"It does sound quite reasonable indeed, but in practice, it’s just a pretext masquerading as ’justice’."
Zhao Qingfeng said, "Yeah, no matter what you do, you always have to stand on the moral high ground. Perhaps other civilizations also have a so-called moral superiority complex. This is what’s known as ideological conflict, and behind it lies deeper interests, possibly related to Level 5 Civilizations. This is a major focus for our trip to the trade market."
"Hopefully, we can gain something in this neutral marketplace."
So far, the factions known to humans total three.
The first is the Amoeba Faction, which are the Cosmic Merchants, maintaining an absolutely neutral stance.
You fight to the death; that’s none of my concern, just don’t come after me. Everyone conducts business peacefully, striving for mutual development; the Universe is so vast, why fight at all?
This faction’s strength should be quite substantial, with many adherents, including the defeated Badit Civilization, which is actually a covert member of the Amoeba Faction. Even though the Badit Civilization turned into bandits and attacked humans, this civilization still revered trade.
Of course, the Badit Civilization was only a Third-level Civilization, failing to meet the minimum standards, so they simply weren’t accepted.
