Chapter 367 - 366: Communicating with Low-Level Civilization

Chapter 367: Chapter 366: Communicating with Low-Level Civilization

Wang Junpeng listened to the zealous cheers of the natives, coupled with all sorts of strange cries, and felt quite embarrassed. He wouldn’t dare let the others truly worship him... Such an act was not at all enjoyable, but rather quite disgraceful!

If the word got out, he would undoubtedly be the laughingstock amongst his peers!

He even anticipated that his colleagues would mock him and encourage him to stay on this planet, "to become the great god of the natives!"

"No, what god? It’s clearly the god of the native charlatans!"

With these thoughts, Wang Junpeng shuddered slightly but quickly composed himself. He cleared his throat, and his voice rang out through the loudspeaker, "Respected... friends from the Riley civilization, we come from the distant Earth civilization, bearing peace and goodwill."

"We adhere to the principles of equality and free trade; everything can be bought, and everything can be sold, as long as you have the corresponding bargaining chips..."

"We have also brought valuable knowledge and wealth, which presents a good opportunity for both sides to enhance exchanges and promote each other’s development... The exchange between civilizations can foster progress for both parties and even more so..."

The battlefield fell silent as the frenzied cheering abruptly stopped. Some high-ranking commanders of the Riley civilization simply pricked up their ears, reciting anxiously in their hearts, "The language of the Divine?"

"Um, the language of the Divine..."

"Do you understand it?"

"Go fetch Karlavia; isn’t he able to communicate with the Divine?"

Several charlatans "said to be" able to communicate with the Divine were assigned tasks, and their faces turned ashen with panic.

Now that the Divine Messenger was really here, they couldn’t understand a thing!

It was well known that in most countries, pretending to conduct supernatural acts was punishable by hanging! Yet, those who played such tricks continued to exist and were ubiquitous... For being able to communicate with the Divine was enough to secure a very high status and immense wealth!

Wang Junpeng spoke to himself for a while, and upon seeing the bewildered expressions of the Riley people, he had a rough idea in his mind.

"...So they can’t understand the language of the Gaia civilization, huh? Ah, it’s expected that they wouldn’t understand, so let’s not waste time then."

As the dominant side, Wang Junpeng didn’t dawdle; he simply waved his hand, and some soldiers approached, lifting several injured individuals onto stretchers and loading them into vehicles.

Humans, once clad in Power Armor, generally measured two meters in height, and some even reached two and a half meters. Compared to the Riley people, who were less than one and a half meters tall, they looked like giants grasping chickens. Especially with their metallic, streamlined Power Armor, they radiated a strong sense of power, deterring any resistance.

Under the watchful eyes of all, the human soldiers attempted to transport these injured of the Riley civilization into the biological laboratory for treatment... and for the sake of research.

The Riley people simply watched blankly as humans moved the wounded, then drove away, totally unchallenged... Those moving vehicles with four wheels seemed like monstrous entities, or rather, monsters in their eyes.

A few of the sharper natives hazarded a guess at what the humans intended to do and thought about screaming, yet immediately ceased.

The injured Riley individuals being loaded into the vehicles were so excited that they nearly fainted, even the sensation of pain had disappeared...

Wang Junpeng wasn’t particularly kind-hearted; the Riley individuals who had already died, despite the advanced medical technology of humans, were beyond help, and could be studied anatomically without any moral dilemma.

As for those not yet dead, attempting to treat them wasn’t out of the question. Anyway, they had to learn the language and script of the others before any normal communication could take place.

Half an hour later, a group of soldiers returned with more than five hundred Riley people to the main base. There was a simple biological quarantine zone, designed for studying the native life of the planet. The security measures were decent, and the equipment was fairly comprehensive.

In an instant, another large group of experts gathered around.

"Did the trade go smoothly? You’ve managed to get the Riley people so quickly?"

"Are they going to dissect and study them?"

Many human reporters furrowed their brows, uncertain whether they should interview or not.

In fact, there were many things that one could only choose to report selectively. Take all sorts of biological experiments, for example—even if they were reported, what would that change? Other than causing discomfort, there was not much benefit.

No civilization can be entirely noble and without any dark aspects. Just like Earth Civilization, who knows how many chickens, ducks, and pigs are slaughtered in the slaughterhouses each year. The public knows this, of course, but most people prefer not to think about it.

As long as people live, they must eat.

"Not dissecting, don’t jump to conclusions," Wang Junpeng waved his hand. "These are combat-related injuries. We’ll give them some perks first, which will make communication easier. We can’t even speak their language yet... Be careful, if they can be saved, don’t accidentally kill them."

"It wouldn’t hurt to research a bit along the way, but it’s better not to kill them... Positive impact is always more conducive than negative when handling affairs."

"Is that Qiu Siman?!"

These Riley people lying on the stretchers, when they saw the array of diverse equipment and all manner of strange objects, were utterly captivated, so much so that their wounds seemed to stop hurting... Some of the severely injured even got so excited that they stopped breathing, while others were wildly shouting!

What followed was an intense period of research and medical treatment.

With the current level of human technology, unless an injury was too severe, or the individual died on the spot, it was possible to provide treatment.

Although most of the drugs humans used, like antibiotics for instance, were basically ineffective, as long as the life-form was carbon-based, there were a great many similarities. After simple analysis, humans quickly found the corresponding nerve paralyzing drugs for this civilization, which shut up the zealous Riley people.

First, they performed surgery to stop the bleeding, then used ultraviolet rays for disinfection. For the lightly wounded, there generally weren’t too many problems.

"Mr. Wang, these Riley people have the capacity for short glides because their mass is sufficiently light; their entire body structure is somewhat like bats, even their bones are hollow. Coupled with the planet’s weaker gravity compared to Earth and a thicker atmosphere conducive to gliding... The evolution of such gliding abilities must come from long-term residence atop towering trees, to avoid natural predators."

Indeed, the vegetation on this planet was extremely dense and had undergone extreme gigantification!

The trees the Riley people lived in, each stood seventy to eighty meters tall, and some even over a hundred meters high, with the shortest being around fifty meters.

As for why in a low-oxygen, low-carbon dioxide environment, the vegetation grew larger instead—this was also a mystery worth investigating...

Seeing some biologists enthusiastically discussing these matters, Wang Junpeng spoke with a hint of impatience, "Alright, alright, that’s not what we should be focusing on right now. We’ll have plenty of time to study these matters later. We need to crack their language and script as soon as possible, otherwise we’re totally unable to communicate..."

"Once you’ve organized the initial biological survey reports, send them back to Kunlun Mountain."

"Let our linguists find some patients who have been treated, and get the communication started."

As such, the sky gradually darkened...

The soldiers from both sides had already grown impatient from waiting, lay prostrate on the ground, motionless.

They secretly suspected that all this might be a test from the Divine, praying and feeling anxious in their hearts...

High-ranking officials in the rear base were also in a state of worry, unable to fathom the intentions of these "Divine Messengers."

Rumors even spread that the other party was demonic, stoked by several fanatics who cried out, "The Demon has already eaten the people taken away! A four-legged monster swallowed humans whole! We should run fast!"

These fanatics, for reasons unknown, forcibly perceived the vehicles as man-eating monsters.

"No, this is definitely a test, a Divine test! Arrest those spreading the rumors!"
