Chapter 297 - Chapter 297 Chapter 297 Sea Swallow SPACE-III

Chapter 297: Chapter 297 Sea Swallow SPACE-III Chapter 297: Chapter 297 Sea Swallow SPACE-III These biological tissues also represented the latest research advancements. They were complex materials composed of DNA, proteins, and chitin, among other organic substances. Although they couldn’t rival material metals or nanomaterials in terms of strength and toughness, they had their unique advantages.

First, they could be produced quickly and in high quantity, and repairs were extremely simple–there was even some self-healing capability.

Second, they possessed a very strong and accurate feedback capability for conveying information!

Even though these biological materials were not true living beings, they exhibited a stress response similar to that of living organisms. This responsiveness functioned like a human body, providing timely feedback wherever there was pain or swelling. Moreover, their stable feedback abilities were something conventional materials lacked. This new type of biological material was useful in both bionic robots and various sensors inside spacecraft.

As the Kunlun Mountain engine was powered up to full capacity, within a short while, a plethora of data reports appeared on the screen, “D1334 Energy Chamber temperature exceeds the standard, suspected insufficient output power, reason pending…”

“Report to the Captain, signs of potential metal fatigue in Area M112…”

“Observation Room in the J5 direction is malfunctioning, cause unknown, investigation pending.”

One tracking report after another was summarized in the Captain’s Room. Zhang Yuan reviewed them for a while, but they were all minor issues, lacking any orange or red warnings, so there was no need for him to personally issue emergency commands.

Ahead, 60,000 kilometers away, was a Cosmic Fleet consisting of 26 medium-sized Escort Ships and one large Destroyer!

Each Escort Ship had an approximate tonnage of 6000 tons and was about 240 meters in length–akin to the size of the aircraft carriers of yore.

This line of Escort Ships was the model known as “Sea Swallow SPACE-III”, employing massive amounts of nanocomposite materials, hence their lightness.

By all accounts, they were not small in volume, but compared to the Kunlun Mountain, they were like little chicks.

Each “Sea Swallow” could carry 40 small drones, 26 large interstellar missiles, 6 small electromagnetic guns, and a variable number of small interception lasers. They were capable of effectively striking targets within a million kilometers, and their maneuverability far surpassed that of the Kunlun Mountain.

This was indeed a true interstellar fleet!

Zhang Yuan glanced at the screen; the intervals between the ships in the formation ahead were well controlled, with no spacecraft straying out of formation.

On another screen displayed a series of data, the military forces ahead were continually accelerating at a rate of 5 meters per square second.

“Kunlun Mountain” was currently accelerating at three-thousandths of a meter per square second.

Given the considerable size of the spaceship, this acceleration was quite impressive.

Space travel, after all, was like the slow crawl of a snail; everyone was already prepared for this, so after reviewing this series of parameters, Zhang Yuan settled back into his seat with ease.

“Looking at it this way, there shouldn’t be any major problems. After some maintenance, we’ll be able to embark on a real deep-space voyage.”

“We had plans to launch Colonization Ships to the outside world, and I didn’t expect that we would be the new explorers ourselves.”

“I think we can build one or two ‘Hawk-Hawk-II’ class spacecraft within these five years to enhance our military capacity.”

“That shouldn’t be an issue.”

Of course, the Ying Sun Destroyer was an upgraded version of The Sea Swallow, heavier and with stronger attack capabilities. Currently, humans had built only one.

Faced with such a grand and magnificent sight, Zhang Yuan, Li Zhendong, and others were filled with emotion, constantly discussing the developments of the last five years.

The entire new civilization would split into two as they set sail this time; one group would remain on this Planet, while the other–toward the distant starry skies! Naturally, this group would leave with Kunlun Mountain.

During the survey two years ago, it turned out that approximately eight million people were willing to follow “Kunlun Mountain” into the starry space to the next potential Life Planet, to discover unknown civilizations and to encounter a broader world. This number surpassed expectations and was, in fact, the spiritual legacy left by the Glizerians who departed on the “Earth Era”.

The remaining six million people wanted to stay on this Planet to continue developing.

There wasn’t much to say about this choice; to each their own, and not all the population needed to step into the stars. Retaining some of the seeds of civilization here was also good.

Even though such a decision would significantly weaken the overall strength of the entire civilization, in reality, the impact wasn’t too great. With time, a mere adjustment in the birthrate could easily make up for it.

On one hand, with this interstellar army, humans had sufficient self-protection capabilities. If they encountered a reasonably strong civilization that they could not defeat, couldn’t they simply escape?

On the other hand, according to information sent by the Golden Sun, humans indeed had a high probability of having reached their own upper limits. Relying on their own creative abilities, it had become increasingly difficult to uncover new branches of technology.

In physics, fewer and fewer significant discoveries were being made, and other disciplines were also falling into bottlenecks or patterns of fixed thinking.

For example, some of the Biological Materials used by the Universal Factory were something humans could never have conceived.

Although neither truly biological nor purely inanimate, these materials comprised various organic substances like proteins and DNA and exhibited a certain responsiveness. Once the physical materials were on hand, they were not difficult to understand, but humans still had no idea how they were created in the first place.

Another example was biological chips. It wasn’t that they hadn’t been thought of, but their potential was either overlooked or dismissed for various reasons.

Furthermore, after more than a hundred years of development, the new civilization had essentially exhausted the legacy of Earth Civilization. “Kunlun Mountain”, “The Sea Swallow”, and “Ying Sun” were almost the limit of current technology. While there might still be room for optimization, a true qualitative change in performance was unlikely.

Thus, people decided it was best to set sail early–there was no need to continue developing here.

“To think that in my lifetime, I would embark on a second deep-space voyage.”

Looking out at the starry sky, suddenly, everyone in the room was filled with boundless enthusiasm!

“By the way,” Zhang Yuan suddenly remembered something, “in seven months, we’ll be able to travel to the location of Cosmic String D99834J.”

“Using the Cosmic String to accelerate the spaceship is a groundbreaking first. Does anyone have any details that need to be added? I certainly don’t want the newly constructed Kunlun Mountain to fall apart due to massive gravitational forces…”

“Absolutely not, Captain, you must trust our technological strength. There’s no way Kunlun Mountain would fall apart!”

Everyone burst into laughter.

This matter dated back to seven years ago…
