Chapter 261 - Chapter 261 Chapter 261 The Movie of an Alien Civilization

Chapter 261: Chapter 261: The Movie of an Alien Civilization! Chapter 261: Chapter 261: The Movie of an Alien Civilization! The entire upper echelons of the new civilization found themselves mired in deep concern, with a medley of internal and external problems entwined in a chaotic mess, requiring immense wisdom to untangle methodically and meticulously.

There was a heap of internal matters to attend to, such as technological development, particularly how to handle the possible existence of “black technology”; the expansion of external industries; and incubating a vast number of babies. Population issues were long-term problems that would only become evident in a few decades, and this plan could not be put off any longer.

In terms of foreign affairs, they had to communicate with the Gliese Civilization. Even though the possibility of war between the two sides was not high, necessary precautions could not be neglected, especially the prevention of ideological invasion.

The infiltration of ideas was subtle and insidious; who knew when a group of diplomats might become tainted with the Glizerians’ hedonism and then carry it onto the spaceship, infecting a large number of people. Hence, essential educational measures and ideological propaganda were indispensable; communication with the other party must be cautious, but it could not be entirely unrestrained.

In contrast, the common folk at the bottom did not share such worries. When they heard the news of the successful “Icebreaking Journey,” joy and celebration were predominant. Crowds of people happily gathered in the squares in twos and threes, celebrating and chatting.

The central television screen was broadcasting images of the civilization’s elite signing treaties with the Glizerians, including the “Peaceful Coexistence Treaty,” which entailed mutual respect for territorial sovereignty, non-aggression, non-interference in each other’s internal affairs, equality and mutual benefit, and peaceful coexistence.

In reality, without the witness of a third-party civilization, such treaties had little binding force and could be unilaterally torn up at any time.

But Zhang Yuan still felt that it was indeed unlikely for the two sides to go to war, unless the historical stories and pleas for help from the other side were all fabricated.

The possibility of these historical stories being fabricated was low; if both sides wished to cooperate, related investigations would continue, and the likelihood of completely fabricating an entire civilization’s history was too low and too difficult.

In the following day or two, Zhang Yuan finally set aside the burden he had been carrying… he was simply too weary. Since the initiation of the entire diplomatic effort, he had barely had any decent rest, even timing his meals with a stopwatch, promptly returning to work as soon as he finished eating.

But now, at last, he had the time to collapse into bed and sleep for a full day and night! Let others take care of the rest!

Meanwhile, some of the cultural and artistic aspects of the Gliese Civilization began to appear on the Human internet.

These were all excellent pieces of culture meticulously selected by government agencies.

Most of the surviving Gliesean culture was of inferior quality, but it was undeniable that they had created many beautiful works of art, not just limited to sculpture and painting but also including films and music. Letting the populace appreciate these arts was relatively unproblematic and even helped to enhance understanding of the civilization, reducing panic.

In fact, humans are quite an arrogant species; the notion of “Human as the epitome of all creatures” had become ingrained in the subconscious minds of many.

Within the Solar System, it was virtually impossible for any naturally evolved species to threaten human dominance. As the apex of the food chain, humans had an attitude of taking from other life forms as they pleased.

Take, for example, corgis and teddy bears, some dog breeds whose tails were cut off just to make them “look cute.”

Or consider purebred dogs and cats that, despite numerous genetic defects, were bred in large numbers simply for their “cuteness,” even though they possessed weak life forces and poor resistance, often suffering from hereditary diseases from birth; king of the jungle, the tiger, kept in cages for people’s viewing pleasure; elephants and bears became circus performers…

Such long-term habits led all people to unconsciously develop a sense of superiority. The so-called animal protection associations, cat lovers, and dog lovers were merely based on this sense of superiority that allowed control over animals; without it, no one would love cats or dogs.

But now, things were different; another highly intelligent life form had emerged, one that had birthed its own culture and could even manufacture nuclear bombs, hardly under human control!

The emergence of this life form inevitably made humans tense…

And it could even create a tendency to destroy the other party!

This destructive tendency was actually a form of arrogance.

But!

Humans must become accustomed to the existence of extraterrestrial intelligence.

Just as Zhang Yuan had surmised, there are at least a million, ten million, or even billions of intelligent biological species in the universe. To blindly assume they don’t exist, or to think that humans are the best, is nothing more than fooling oneself or an extreme form of arrogance.

If one wants to become a true interstellar civilization, setting one’s own position is the first step.

And the current exchange of arts and culture allows the citizens of new civilizations to further understand each other’s culture and ideology. When various unknowns disappear, the tension will slowly fade away.

Finding one’s own position is very important. Humans are just an ordinary civilization in the universe. There’s no need to feel like another intelligent civilization will come out of nowhere and destroy us without reason–it’s a sheer persecution complex… Seizing the opportunity to develop upward, without arrogance or inferiority, is most important.

“It’s starting, it’s starting… An Alien Civilization movie! Hurry up and grab it!”

“It’s said to be art from the Gleize Civilization, haha, alien movies… I wonder what it’s like…”

“It’s over… It’s stuck, and a second late, you can’t grab it anymore!”

A few men were howling at the sky, then were scolded by their girlfriends.

“It’s all your fault, all your fault, you were too stingy with a few bucks, and now all the tickets for the first show are gone!”

Movie tickets were priced at 30 yuan per person, which, compared to the current monthly salary of around two thousand, was a bit pricey. Of course, it was just slightly expensive, and a little splurge wasn’t a big deal.

An alien movie, this is truly an unprecedented event!

Under such a gimmick, people streamed endlessly to buy movie tickets, and seats in the cinema were snapped up in seconds. The staff were working overtime to arrange the screenings.

Diplomat Wang Junpeng was very lucky to have grabbed two movie tickets, but this time he didn’t bring his best buddy. Instead, it was… a beautiful and lovely girl, Miss Cha.

It couldn’t be said that he was favoring beauty over friendship. He had been on that Alien Planet carrying out diplomatic duties for several months now. If he didn’t take time out to accompany his girlfriend, he’d probably have a “green grassland” on his head!

However, the imagined green grassland did not materialize. Seeing the admiration and affection in his girlfriend’s eyes, those twinkling gazes of adoration, Wang Junpeng couldn’t tell you how happy he was. No, it was more than just happiness–it was a sensation of… free flight!

“Ah, Mr. Wang, you really got the movie tickets! But, I like going Dutch, so I’ll transfer the money for the ticket to you right away.”

Miss Cha was lovely in so many ways, with a gentle personality too. But it was a bit annoying that she insisted on going Dutch for everything.

But some girls from some countries are just like that, not liking others to pick up the tab. This form of financial independence was actually pretty good. Wasn’t this what real feminism was supposed to be like?

Both of them entered the cinema happily and found their seats.

The alien movie was named “Strive, Ah-Qiang!”, telling the story of a Glizerian named Ah-Qiang, who wanted to become a great artist in the materialistic Underground City.

As a young man who grew up in the countryside, inheriting many traditional crafts from the master artist Abella, Ah-Qiang excelled in the exquisite art of puppetry, able to sing, to speak, to dance.

However, when he arrived in the big city, he realized that times had greatly changed. Coming from the countryside, Ah-Qiang promoted rural arts everywhere, only to be ignored, despised, scolded, and called a “bumpkin.”

He walked alone on the streets, suddenly realizing that the world was not as he had imagined; there was no place for him…

The whole story was quite long, about two and a half hours, mainly describing Ah-Qiang’s experiences in the city. However, at the moment, the cinema was silent, no longer as noisy as it was at the start.

Wang Junpeng quietly said, “…indeed, traditional art, which requires a certain level of contemplation to be enjoyable, simply can’t compete with entertainment that directly stimulates the senses.”

He noticed that Miss Cha Zi sitting next to him was already engrossed in the plot, and for the moment, even forgot to eat her popcorn. He had initially thought, considering the dark cinema, of doing something naughty, but then decided against it. Such an excellent movie deserved to be watched seriously; missing this one opportunity wouldn’t matter…
