James, once done giving orders, acted swiftly. He can’t just wait for the formation to get activated to take down their enemy, especially when that enemy was not going to give him time.

He has to buy enough time for the formation to activate, and then the battle would be in his favour.

Before the team was set out, they were given a portable formation that could improve or decrease someone’s strength based on the activators.

Though it sounds great, there are two issues.

The formation consumes a lot of energy, and there should always be someone maintaining it in an active state. If there were no one maintaining it, it would fail and has to be restarted from the start.

The best and worst part was that the increment or decrement that the ones inside would gain would depend on the number of activators. The more there are and the more powerful these activators are, the more the increase or decrease in power would be.

Even though that was the case, James didn’t send the most powerful ones as they were needed to fight the man. He can’t make use of those Rank-7 and below for the direct fight with the man, as they would die within seconds if they charged in.

That would be a waste of resources. They would be most useful from the perimeter to activate the formation, and as long as they could keep it active, James was sure that he could take care of the supreme.

While James charged in, so did the Rank-8 and Rank-9 professionals.

The remainder of the team acted accordingly to their orders, went to activate the formation. Their only duty was to keep the formation active and had no role in fighting the man, for which they were happy.

A direct fight with the man means sure death. This way, there is a chance of living, even though the chances are very low.

The man would not let the formation be active. No one would allow their enemies to have such an advantage. Only idiots do, and idiots don’t reach such a rank.

They are sure that the man would try to destroy their formation, but this gave them the best chance at survival.

The mission had been a voluntary mission. The higher-ups didn’t impose the mission on them. They either took the mission for the duty or for the rewards.

Either way, they can’t say, This was not what I signed up for.

This was exactly what they signed up for, and they should be happy that they got the less dangerous part of the battle action.

While the low-ranking members are busy activating the formation, James and others started attacking the Supreme with their skills.

Skills started to rain on the supreme, but he looked calm and didn’t take their attacks into consideration. He didn’t even care about the fact that there are a few who are trying to activate a formation.

He already cast his skill, something no one sensed long ago.

Once James and others’ attacks neared him, he swiped his hand, and the attacks moved away from his position and fell in a different area than the casters originally intended.

This move surprised them.

They had never seen or heard about such an ability.

They had seen professionals moving objects, but what just happened was not Telekenisis, at least not the normal one. The one called Supreme just moved attacks, like they are normal objects. They are skill attacks.

One can block them or parry using items, but what Supreme did was nothing of the sort. He swiped them away as if they were just falling leaves, even without touching them.

"What the fuck was that?" James was even more surprised than the others.

Of the abilities that Supreme has, this was not one of them.

"It means that this skill is either a new one or he made sure that no one knew about this. Either case, this is a dangerous skill, which could change the outcome of the battle", he cursed in a low voice, but that didn’t make him give up the attack.

"Everyone has such skills that can’t be used continuously or would cost a lot of energy, which would become a burden on the professional. Don’t stop your attacks, sooner or later he would falter", he shouted, raising the morale of the team.

Though this was not a skill that they had seen before, they heard about Unique skills. It fit that category perfectly.

Even though Unique skills are troublesome, it was not like Unique skill users are undefeatable, just annoying in battle. As long as they concentrate and time their attacks perfectly, they can bring the "Supreme" down.

With renewed vigour and morale, they started attacking him again.

Supreme waved his hand twice more before he stopped that action and started using items and his own attack skills on the members.

Though they were being attacked by the man, it brought a smile to their faces. As James said, he may have some extraordinary skill that can squat their skills like flies, but that comes at a cost and can’t be overused.

Seeing that the man was using other methods, they increased their attack intensity, hoping that he would make a mistake, but that was not so easy.

Even though he was alone, they understood that he was at least mid Rank-9, maybe even peak Rank-9, which means he was hundreds, thousands of levels away from them. It won’t be easy to bring him down, but they didn’t back down once they saw the hope of winning the battle.

"Oh, look at their faces, thinking that I stopped using that skill because it was restricted. Hahaha, let them think that for a while and when I use it again, the look on their faces would be worth the wait", the man chuckled internally.

He was feared even among the cult because he liked to play with his prey.

"Huh?" the man frowned when he saw the formation.

"Did those old bastards really send this formation to trap me?" the man cursed internally.

"Hmph, let’s see what these brats can do with such formation", he mused internally but showed no fear or any expression that could give away his thoughts.

"The formation is active. This is our chance. Attack with everything you have. Activate any boosters that you possess. We may not get such a chance to surprise", James gave the orders, and the others did as ordered.
