Death Mage with an SS-Rank Talent -
Chapter 263
Chapter 263: Chapter 263
High in the sky, a man looked down on a group who were looking for something.
"Tsk for all the resources available to those idiots, it took them over a month to even find the correct location of that place. How pathetic. The alliance is doomed. It would fall sooner or later, but for the plan to be executed perfectly, this is the perfect place to start its fall".
"That damn place is breaking free. I thought I had time, but with the planet’s upgradation, that place suddenly gained a lot of energy, and it keeps increasing at a very fast rate. It was becoming almost impossible to contain it. Neither I nor the others could keep up with containing it".
"If that happens, those idiots and the entire world would know the truth, but before that, my plan would be completed, and then, no one could stand against me in this world. Well, no one would be there to stand against me. Truth wouldn’t matter anymore after that".
"Before I can achieve that, it looks like I need to sacrifice some pawns to make sure my plans go unimpeded, maybe even sacrifice...hmm, let’s see how this goes and decide. Pawns are to be sacrificed but I need to make sure that the gains are high enough for the sacrifice", the man muttered to himself, before he started to cast his skill.
[Fire Ball]
Boom!
The fireball devastated everything where it landed with a loud boom that could be heard kilometres away from the battle zone.
It might be a simple fireball skill, but it was not of Iron Rank. It was upgraded long ago and has reached Bronze Ranks.
To the viewers present here, that was more than enough to eliminate many of them.
---
Once the fireball landed, there were screams of professionals getting burnt to ash, with parts of their bodies burned beyond recognition or use.
There were 70 members who came here.
Once the fireball happened, that number directly reduced to 40 useful professionals. Ten of them died, and the other 20 are more or less dead, not useful anymore.
In the end, only forty were useful for what comes next, but even they were not good. Sure, the Peak Rank-8 and Rank-9 escaped without even a scratch, but the others have wounds, though not dangerous, yet for a big fight, they wouldn’t be able to survive for long.
So, with the first strike from the opposition, the alliance is already at a disadvantage, but the team is not ready to take it with their heads down.
James looked at the man flying in the sky.
Thinking about the attack angle, he was sure that the man was who attacked them. With one attack, a lot of them died, but they are all below Rank-7.
A surprise attack like that could take even Rank-8 if the opponent was not prepared for the attack. He didn’t think much about the attack.
As there are many items that can boost someone’s skills. As long as they have those items, they can do what the man just did. He has seen such things like that beforehand many times.
What actually attracted James was the mask that the man was wearing.
James was briefed by the alliance heads about the mission before they sent him with the team. One of the team’s missions was to capture a man called Supreme, suspected leader of the Cult.
No one has ever seen his face before, but there were a few sightings and even encounters that left some details regarding the man. Many felt that the Supreme let those details slip by, letting the people live on purpose, and the purpose was fear, which he succeeded in creating.
First, the one called supreme is a Fire Mage.
Second, he was also good at close-range combat.
The third, which is used to identify him, is the Red Fox mask that he wears.
The man that James was looking at, the one who just attacked them, was wearing a Red Fox mask, and he used a fire attack on them, which means he is a fire or related element user.
Though he had yet to see the close-range combat power of the man, James was sure that the man was the Supreme that the alliance warned him about.
They informed him that the man would show to solve the issue that the cult members are facing regarding those ruins. Added to that, they killed a few scouts and even one or two bases of the cult.
They should have already known that the alliance found out about their existence here, even if they didn’t know about the ruins, which would be possible if they stayed here for long and kept searching for the cult hideouts.
So, the cult members calling for help was not out of the norm, and the supreme coming straight to here, as he was supposed to be arriving in the area, was just a coincidence, nothing more.
Not even the most paranoid would think that there was more to it than what was visible.
---
"The Supreme is here", James shouted, "Rank-7 and below withdraw quickly to the back and help activate the formation. Others quickly surround him, making sure that he can’t escape. Today, either he would die or become a prisoner", he ordered the members who were still able to move after the surprise attack.
"Hmm, they called me in a hurry just because they were afraid of a few ants like you", the man sneered, looking at the people who stumbled just because of a single attack.
He then turned towards James and others who were preparing to trap him and snorted, "You think these petty tricks can bring me down, the supreme? In your dreams", he bellowed clearly not phased by the fact that a bunch of Rank-8 and Rank-9 professionals were preparing to take him down.
Instead of fearing about the fact that the professionals are creating a formation to aid them in the fight, he smiled.
"The play has to be perfect", he muttered to himself.
