Chapter 233
Chapter 233: Chapter 233
After the basic introduction, the students were taken to their housing quarters.
When Aaron looked at he couldn’t help but lament about how basic the quarters were.
The housing facilities of every student include a single bedroom with an attached bathroom. Nothing more.
Back at the academy, his dorm house was magnificent in every way possible. Even his family home back in Rock City wouldn’t stand in comparison with that.
That privilege was supposed to be for four years, but things changed. He was only able to enjoy that for a year or so before he was sent to guard a city, where the facilities are just two rooms.
One to sleep and one to freshen up.
They are simple but effective.
What else would a soldier/guard, or in this case, a second-year student would need?
It’s not like the students would be raising a family here. They would be only staying here until either this crisis is over, or if they were sent elsewhere, or their four years at the academy were over.
Once their fourth year was up, even if they were not at the academy, as long as they were doing an assignment that was given by the academy, they graduated.
This was why there were no year-end exams the previous year.
Normally, at the end of every year, there would be some sort of exam that would check how much a student has improved. Though there would be no failures for the first three years, it won’t be the same in the fourth year.
The final test of the academy decides whether one graduates or not. That was the normal procedure of how the academy worked, but with the war against cults and monsters, that changed.
Unless the war stops, the war itself would be the student’s test for graduation.
So, unless the war stops or Aaron graduates, he has to live in a place like this. Yeah, staying in this Tier-2 City was not a permanent job. The academy might assign the students to a higher Tier city or even to the front lines.
The first is less likely to happen, as there would be enough protectors in a high-tiered city.
A high-tiered city would have a lot of dungeons and also higher-ranked dungeons. This means the awakeners would be at a higher level than the people in low-tier cities. Some even leave their homes and settle in high-tier cities to improve their strength.
High-tier cities would have a high number of awakeners and a high number of high-ranking awakeners, which makes it easy to protect their borders when danger approaches.
This was not the same for the low-tier cities. People would be leaving these places in search of better environments where they can improve much, not arriving there to settle in such places.
So, it would be less likely that the students would be sent there, unless the city was near an active war zone.

Aaron sighed, looking at the small living space, but he was not against this.
People are dying to protect the civilians and the crafting professionals like his parents, who can’t fight for themselves. So, a small discomfort like this is nothing. At least, there was privacy. For that, he was pretty much satisfied.
After setting his things down, he went to the mess hall.
The guards already showed the students where the mess hall was before giving them the keys to their rooms.
The mess hall was located on the underground floor of the building.
The building has two underground floors. The lowest was where the food was stored. The one above that was where the kitchen and the mess hall were present.
The building was huge, shaped like a C, but the basement had no such distinction. The entire area of the floor was used for storage or the kitchen, and the mess hall. It was more than enough for all the ones staying in the building.
Back at the academy, Aaron would make his own food, but at the moment, he lacks a proper kitchen to make anything.
Small sacrifices for something great are nothing.
Aaron ate the food that was served for the night before returning to his room to rest for the night. The last two nights, they had to sleep in the forest. So, he fell asleep as soon as his body fell on the bed.
---
In the morning, all the students woke up early.
The staff there made sure of that, as the students would be sorted into groups and would be assigned their work. All the students appeared on the same ground where the convoys dropped them off the previous evening.
When they arrived at the ground, they saw that there were more students than those who had arrived the previous evening. It was quickly found that Dusk Academy was not the only academy that sent its students. There were two more academies that sent their students for the duty.
One was a local academy, Duskmist Academy, which was tied to the city, and the other was Seamire Academy. It was a few kilometres away from the city. That academy was tied to Seamire City, which was a coastal city near here.
The commander appeared a few seconds later, "Everyone, as you might have found that three academies have sent their students to help the city. One was local, Duskmist Academy, which was tied to this city. The other two were Seamire and Dusk Academies".
"We know you are just second-year students. So, there won’t be much burden on you in the start, and you would be placed under senior students or third or fourth-year students. The groups were already decided. The team leader or captain and the members were decided based on many factors".
"Now, your names would be announced along with the name and academy of the captain, under whom you would be working while here", the commander declared.
The commander then signalled the guards who came along with, and left the area. As the commander of the city guard, he has many things to do, rather than babysit a bunch of academy students.
The guards quickly sorted the students into groups of three.
"Aaron Skyhart, Viloet Mire and Jason West. You three are a group under a senior student from Dusk Academy, Noah Kwinton", the captain spoke to the three.
When Aaron heard the captain’s name, he frowned.
"Ah, seriously, another Kwinton here?" Aaron thought to himself.
"The one I met before was already annoying, which was more than enough for a lifetime. Now I have to meet up with another. I hope that this one, unlike the last one, won’t be easy to get rid of. No, no, that type of prejudice is wrong. If one of the family has screw loose doesn’t mean every one does. Let’s see how he works before judging him", Aaron quickly corrected his thinking.
"First, let’s meet him before deciding what type of person he would be", Aaron decided.
The captains were not present at the place, but the guards told them to wait and get to know each other before the captains arrived.
Since these students have been here longer, they should be working. So, their delay of arrival was not taken seriously by many, but not everyone thinks the same. There are voices that started to blame the captains for being late.
