Chapter 210: Chapter 210

"It looks like slavers, but I am having a feeling that they were more than that", Aaron frowned as he said those those words.

By all the information that they can gather by watching the people, the newcomers are slavers who are here to collect the villagers and sell them to some perverts.

Though slavery was illegal in the world, the authorities can’t keep a watch on everything, especially with so many things attracting their attention.

So, the slavery was prevalant in the underground but the amount was supposed to be very low.

Here and there, a missing person, whose body would not be found until several years from the date of their disappearance. These people are someone who had to go through the phase of being slave to someone.

It was a good phase as slaves are typical used for either sex or experimentation. Those are the main reasons why the slavers are able to prosper and are taking risks to kidnap someone.

There are some other nasty reasons why some still buy slaves, but the above two are the main reasons why underground slavery is still thriving, no matter what the authorities does to extinguish them.

This was how the slavers operated, but now that appeared to have changed.

They have made allies with the bandits and taking a lot of villagers at the same time to sell to their customers. This is not how they used to work, atleast not Aaron has read about in the library.

In the academy’s library, there are details about every enemy one might encounter while outside. Monsters are not the only enemy of the human kind. There are many humans that threaten the survival of humanity, such as Cults, Bandits, Slavers, etc...

What the trio is seeing is not typical bandit or slaver behaviour.

Acting like this would attract the higher ups of the alliance, who can simply erase them from existence with a snap of their fingers. Even though that was the case, they are still doing this, without any fear for the consequences.

"Is this because the alliance was busy with the cults and monsters?" Aaron wondered.

It should be the only reason why they even dared to try such things. They wanted to make profits as much as they can while the alliance was busy with big fries, and by the time the alliance got their hands free, there would be nothing to tie them with anything.

Either this or someone powerful is making use of the time to create more chaos for some big plan of theirs.

Aaron quickly shared his opinion about what was happening, to which the girls nodded their heads in agreement.

"That is very much possible", Diana said.

"It’s likely the only scenario which explains why the bandits suddenly started to attack villages, while they used to attack and rob only the passing merchants", Erika agreed as well.

No one would take risks without proper initiatives. They are surely getting a lot by doing this, both bandits and those slavers. If not, they wouldn’t be moving like this.

---

"Whatever the reason behind this change, it matters not. Though our mission was to eliminate the bandits, as you said, we would feel guilty if we left those villagers to their fate. We need to rescue them, but it won’t be easy".

"Before, there were just the bandits, but now there are the slavers as well. They came with a few guards of their own, lot of guards, ten in total, with two of them in Rank-2. So, if we try to free the villagers, it won’t be easy, atleast if both forces are joined", Aaron said.

"So, what should we do?" Diana asked a bit agitated.

Aaron obsereved Diana for a second. She was acting pretty weird form the second they found the villagers.

"Did something bad happen in her past that surfaced when she found about those village prisoners?" Aaron wondered but didn’t ask her as this was not the time for that.

"This was her secret afterall. If she wants to tell us, she would when she was ready", Aaron thought.

He was someone with many secrets. Though he kept them secret, not because they were bad in the past but could become bad in the future, nonetheless he understood one’s need for secrecy. They are protecting themselves either physically or mentally.

Whatever the case might be, as someone who has secrets of his own, he has to respect other people’s privacy.

"Attacking them is nothing but suicide. We may escape if things got hairy, but the prisoners, the slavers and bandits would be sure to clean the base before they evacuate, and that means, there would be no survivors among the villagers".

"So, for now, we can only wait. If my estimation is correct, then these slavers would be moving the villagers in the night when there would be a lot less chance of encountering authorities, who can check their goods".

"So, either they would move the villagers tonight or tomorrow night. We will wait till then, and we will attack those slavers first. Once we secured the villagers, we would attack the bandits later on, but you two should remember this, when we attack the slavers, there is a chance that it would tip the bandits".

"It would mean either the bandits might come to the rescue of the slavers, or they might run away. Either of those cases might end up with us failing the mission. So, think before you reply", Aaron spoke in a serious tone.

"Are you willing to risk the mission and face the punishment in favour of saving those villagers?" he asked them.

This was something that was related to their journey, something that should be taken seriously. They can’t act on a whim for someone they have no interaction with beforehand.

Everyone has their own life to live. As long as they don’t disturb others’ lives, it would be more than enough. No need to be a hero.

Diana wanted to jump the gun, but Aaron stopped it by asking, "Remember, we can’t save everyone out there. We are not gods. We can only do what we can, nothing more. Is trying to save those villagers worth the cost?"

"If we fail this mission, that would leave a mark in our journey, a mark that could hinder our growth, which in turn stops us from helping many more than we could in the future. Make sure to think this through, the slavers would most likely take some time to come out".

"In the meantime, think and give an answer", Aaron spoke, before he turned his head towards the bandit base.
