The trio reached Woodstone City before nightfall. Once they were inside the city, they blended in perfectly, disappearing among the crowd.

Though the city was not as big as Dusk City, it was still a Tier-3 city, making it pretty populous.

With Viren and his goons keeping a distance from the trio, in order to not raise any suspicions, it made it easy for the trio to blend with the crowd, losing their tails.

"Damn it", Viren cursed as they lost sight of the three, "Where did they go?"

He looked around and even sent his goons to search, but couldn’t find any traces of them.

"Did they find out that we were following? No, that should be impossible. I was using the artifact that my mother gave me, which would shield me from even a high-ranking’s perception. So, they shouldn’t have found out about me, unless that girl, Erika, has something that can detect, but if they did, why didn’t they confront us outside?" Viren thought about the issue.

It was normal for him to think like that.

No one wants to have residual danger, as that can be dangerous and even fatal if ignored for long. So, no one would actively leave behind any hidden dangers when it comes to their enemies.

This was common sense and something that even the teachers at the academy advised the students from Day one. So, if they had found out about the group, they would have attacked them or even set a trap for them, but the trio didn’t do any such thing.

So, Viren thought that they just lost the trio because of the crowds and didn’t think much about that.

What Viren never thought was that that artifact might have shielded them from the perception of even high-ranking awakeners, but Aaron was not like them at all.

All his unlocked attributes are at a higher number, and that includes Perception. He had long ago spotted Viren and his group but was not interested in dealing with the troubles that would come later on. So, he ignored them for the time.

"It looks like we have lost them for now, but not for long. They should be staying in the city for the night, but they should be leaving the city early in the morning if they want to complete their mission quickly".

"In the morning, we can post one member each at the four entrance gates. As soon as they appear there, the one posted there would alert the others. From there, we can take action", Viren said, "For now, let’s find an Inn to rest for the night".

Viren and his group soon found an Inn and rested there for the night.

While Viren and his group were frantically searching for the trio, they, on the other hand, had reached a different entry gate.

There they found an Inn, and booked two rooms, though one is a small one, while the other is a big one.

Aaron took the smaller room while the girls took the big one, as the rooms seemed to be present on different floors.

Though inside the city was supposed to be safe, one can’t say for sure. So, if the girls find themselves in trouble, they can watch each other’s backs. He can protect himself as he has a lot of skeletons and ghosts.

So, he gave them the big room and also left a few skeletons to make sure that nothing went wrong.

After having dinner, Aaron left for his room, leaving a few skeletons for protection in the girls’ room. He even summoned a few more for himself before going to bed. This is a new place after all. They have no idea how it is in the city.

It’s better to be safe than sorry.

Luckily, nothing bad happened at night.

In the morning, after having breakfast, the trio left the Inn, hoping to leave the city and reach the village as soon as possible. The mission was, after all, time sensitive. So, they need to arrive as soon as possible for the best results.

When they arrived in the morning, though, they saw one of Viren’s goons at the gate.

Aaron’s plan was to lose Viren and his goons in the city, but Viren was clever enough to post one of his goons at the gate.

Aaron and the other two went next to the other gates, where they spotted one of the six present there. They understood that Viren was afraid of losing them and posted one at each gate.

With no other choice, other than being spotted by one of the goons, Aaron and his group returned to the Inn to stay for a day and night this time. They took the rooms that they had just vacated an hour ago.

"Now, what should we do?" Diana asked.

Aaron thought for a while and spoke, "If we want to avoid conflict with them, we have to waste a day here and leave the city much earlier the next morning. That is our most likely choice. If not, we would be spotted and they might be on our tail before we know it".

Losing them outside would be difficult, unless we go through the wild, rather than taking the roads.

The girls don’t want to fight with Viren and his group as well. It was not that they were afraid, but fighting would lead to injuries or some unforeseen incidents, which they didn’t want to encounter, as that might delay their mission or might even fail in their objective.

The trio’s main objective, after all, was the missions. They need to complete the mission first; everything else is secondary.

So, they decided to wait another day, which they spent touring the city and learn more about it, but also made sure that they would be under the radar, as there was still Viren and one more, who was inside the city but not at the gates.

Getting spotted at this time would only bring down their plans of leaving undetected.

Early next morning, they were able to slip away before Viren’s goons arrived at the gates. They woke up early and even skipped breakfast in order to leave without getting spotted.

Along the way, they encountered a few monsters, which they easily took care of, but there were no signs of Viren or his group following behind.

The trio breathed in relief as they avoided viren and his group entirely. Now they can concentrate on the mission, instead of worrying if Viren could do anything to sabatoge their mission.

By dusk, they reached their destination. They wasted a day in order to avoid a conflict with Viren and his group.
