Chapter 68: HOPE

Shino threw the chair on the floor and grabbed Kyoto and Mion hands and ran out of the office and towards the exit.

"We can do it!, We can make it out alive!. We’ll make it out alive!!!"

*Slice*

"Huh!?"

In an instant Shino fell to the ground, pulling Kyoto and Mion along.

_What happened!?_ Shino thought. She looked at Kyoto who was still crying then to Mion was looked lost, both of them were broken but not injured. Then she looked down at herself and couldn’t find one of her legs.

Her eyes widened with terror but she didn’t scream, instead she said;

"Looks like none of you are hurt. Kyoto, take Mion and keep running. I’ll catch up to you"

Kyoto didn’t ask any questions, she stood up, grabbed Mion left hand and kept on running.

"My aim was I little off. I was trying to cut both of her legs but cut one instead, either way..." The old woman mouth opened wider. "I’ll kill you"

"Wait, where are your friends?" The bodiless demon asked. "Don’t tell me they abandoned you?, And I was really looking forward to eating the loud one, or the gullible one. She tasted delicious!!"

"T-they didn’t ab... abandon me. I told them to run" Shino defended as she pushed herself backwards, trying to create some distance between them even though it didn’t look like it was working.

"Aren’t you brave?, You think you save them by sacrificing yourself?" The old granny asked. "You saw them, one was too scared to move while the other is completely broken and you sacrificed yourself to protect them!!?, How stupid can humans be?. Once we’re done with you, we’ll catch up to your friends and kill them to, then your death will be for nothing!"

"No, it’s not for nothing. I believe they will make it"

A blond teenager who stood on a tree branch, with striking yellow eyes suddenly looked at his left.

His clothes were black with white stripes, his expression was almost entirely blank, as if he was bored. His arms and neck were covered in bandages, he slowly took off his headset.

"Sir, Is anything the problem?" A younger girl asked. She stood on the ground, she wore a similar outfit but with no stripes and a skirt instead, an emblem of two swords crossed was displayed at the back of her shirt.

"A demon" The Blonde said.

"Another one!?" Another boy in same outfit as the girl asked, visibly surprised. "We’ve already dispatched twenty of those"

"There’s no use whining about it, let’s go" The blonde teenager said and disappeared.

The other two quickly dash to the direction he was looking at.

"His really fast!" The boy huffed.

"What do you expect?, He is a supernatural after all" the girl replied, her face a little bit red. _Don’t over do it_

The two demon hunters finally came out of the forest and appear behind a highschool building.

"The demon is here?" The boy asked, speaking to know one in particular.

"Well, I can’t say it’s rare for a demon to be in this kind of place" The girl looked around and saw two girls at the front gate, they both looked tired, one was crying while the other one was starting are her severed hand. "They’re people there"

The girl pointed at ran towards them but the boy stayed behind.

"Keep them safe, I’ll find the leader?"

"Hmm" the girl nodded as the boy ran into the building.

"I’m going to be late! I need to hurry! Run faster, run faster!" The leader said to himself as he ran up the stairs.

He tries to stay concentrated and detect the demon but his was too distracted to think straight. He slipped on blood but with a violent twist of his body, he was able to land back on his feet. His mind wandered back to when her first jumped into the building.

_if they had told me that one of their friend is still in here earlier, I would have quickly went for her first_

Using the stairs, he made his way to the second floor before stopping at the hallway. His eyes widened with horror as he watched a highschool girl being devoured by two demons, one of them had the appearance of an elderly woman while the other was a demon without a body, except for the hand which it use to stand.

"G-Get away from her!!!" He busted out and darted towards the demons.

The bodiless demon turned. "Who the hell are..."

The leader grabbed the demon by it’s hair and threw it towards the end of the hallway.

*SLASH*

The demon head spilt into two.

"Sir, I’m here to help!" The demon hunter said.

"Kelvin!!!, What are you doing here?!, What about the girls?!!" The leader asked.

"They safe with Rita" Kelvin replied.

"Y...you mon...monsters!!" The old woman wept. "Y-you killed my son!!!!. You monsters!, You’ll pay!!!"

Her body began to expand, her body began to get bigger, her skin became more wrinkly and softer than there were before. The five foot elderly woman was now as large as the hallway.

"S...She has gotten bigger" Kelvin said and shifted backwards but the leader dash forward.

With the leader’s fist covered with a light aura, he punched the old woman but surprisingly, he bounced off.

"You’ll pay for what you did!!!" The old woman lunched at them, her mouth was as wide as the hallway.

The leader jumped and kicked Kelvin out of the hallway through the window, the demon caught his leg and threw him across the hallway. As the leader tumble, he quickly activated a karma shield, the demon reached out to him, her arms continuously growing new arm and grabbed the leader by the neck and slammed him against the wall.

**Cough**

The leader coughed, he held the demon and it suddenly scattered. Before the demon could recover, he dash at it with his fist charged will dark energy but stopped halfway, he eyes filled with fear.

The demon carried Shino corpse and uses it as a shield making the leader stop on his tracks. The demon grabbed the leader by the neck and strangled him still using the corpse as a shield to stop him from attacking.

"You humans are so predictable" the demon laughed.

The leader could feel his life being squeezed out of him, his vision became blurry and then.
