Chapter 99: Ember’s Monsterization (12)

"Wha– why isn’t it working?"

Lunéa was trying her best to at least stop anymore blood from flowing out of her wound.

However, no matter how hard she tried, her magic didn’t respond and her attempts were futile.

"This-this is not working. What the hell is this? Why can’t I use my mana?"

She was in a state of confusion. Not knowing the reason for her inability to use her magic, and also the reason for the sudden transformation of the crying girl in front of her, was driving her crazy.

"dOn’T wAsTe yOUr eFfOrtS."

In the matter of a few seconds, Ember reached the vampire and with a slight movement, she raised her arm and showed Lunéa the ring on her finger.

"YoU sEe ThIs rInG? It’S a sTrAngE pRoPiTy i aM cARRiIng arouND."

Seeing the ring, Lunéa’s eyes widened and a look of shock could be seen on her face.

"I dON’t KnOw ExAcTly WhAt tHiS tHinG cAN do, BuT i Do kNoW a CouPle oF tHiNgs abOUt iT."

As Ember said it, a small layer of black aura began to surface around her scaly body.

Ding!

[4% life force has been extracted from the Vampire Queen, and has been converted into Host’s power.]

"FirST, It can eXtRact thE opPonEnt’s lIfE fOrCE and cOnVerT iT intO my oWN."

Ding!

After Ember finished, another system notification was heard, and the girl’s lips parted into a sinister smile.

[The Vampire Queen’s regeneration ability has been rendered useless by the ’Dark Aura’.]

"SEconD, it iS uSeFUl in fighTs, esPeCiaLLy aGainst peOpLE whO caN ReGenERatE. AnD, iT is aLL dUE tO the dArk AURa."

Ember’s smile became more and more evil, and she took another step forward, reducing the distance between her and the Vampire Queen even more.

"ThiRd, IT cAn InsTIll fEAr iN tHe opPOnEnt’s sOUL, anD dEsTRoy thEir spiRiT, reaDY fOr tHe finAL bloW."

Lunéa was stunned by the things the monster in front of her had just said. And, she was scared, yes, she was afraid of what was going to happen to her.

More than that, she was baffled by the things the girl had just revealed about the ring. She had never heard or seen something like it in her long life.

’A ring,’

Thinking about the item, rage and curiosity began to build up in the vampire’s heart, and her eyes became a bit fierce.

’Are you telling me a ring is the reason that I am like this? Are you telling me I can’t regenerate because of a damn ring?’

She didn’t know whether the monster was speaking the truth or not, but, there was a slight chance that the girl was not lying and the ring was actually the cause.

’It is a ring that has powers such as that? Then, it must be an ancient artifact. But, how did a weakling like her acquire such a thing?’

Lunéa was not sure. The ring seemed to be a unique and powerful item that can give its owner incredible abilities. So, the question was, ’How did she obtain it?’

Looking at her current state, Lunéa knew it would be dangerous if she let her opponent use the black aura again.

The only thing that can prevent that from happening was to find out the method of removing the ring and using it to her advantage.

’How can I remove the ring?’

She was not thinking of any way to escape the monster’s clutches, because the last attack she got from the ring was so strong and unexpected, that the vampire couldn’t react, and her left arm was almost blasted off.

And, since she is the Vampire Queen, so even in her wildest dreams, she can never back down from a battle that threatens to destroy her whole race.

’Is the ring not removable or is there some other way to remove it?’

Lunéa had not seen or heard of anything like it, and was unable to come up with any ideas. There were thousands of books, ten thousands of spells, and hundreds of thousands of weapons and artifacts, and she had read about most of them.

But, nothing came to her mind, and she was at a loss, not knowing what to do.

’Dammit! Not even a single damn—’

Lunéa’s thoughts were interrupted by Ember’s hoarse and distorted voice.

"ARe yOu sTaLLinG?"

The vampire’s body tensed and she immediately focused her gaze on the monster.

"WhAt is it? Are yoU stArtiNg to reGrEt yOur DeciSiOns?"

Lunéa didn’t say anything. Instead, she remained silent and just observed the monster.

She was waiting for the monster’s next move as she tried her best to stop the blood trickling down her injured limb by clutching it as hard as she could.

"ohHhH~," The monster chuckled, and the black smoke surrounding her began to increase, making her form look a bit more terrifying, "dOn’T wORrY, yoU wOn’T eVen kNOw wHen yOU aRE goNNa die."

A small amount of black smoke left her body and began to surround the vampire.

For Lunéa, the monster wasn’t really dangerous.

In fact, even in her half-dead state, she would still be able to fight the monster. But, the problem was, the ring.

She didn’t have much life force left, and if the monster uses the same technique again, then, the vampire knew that there is a high possibility of her losing the rest of her life force.

’I can’t die here.’

With her mind set, Lunéa was ready to do everything it takes to kill the monster and protect her race.

’Come... To... Me... My... Children...’

A glint flashed in the Vampire Queen’s crimson eyes as she used her telepathic abilities to summon all of the monsters on the first floor.

Soon, the lush green ground began to shake and the soil could be heard cracking as loud and heavy footsteps were heard.

The following second, flapping noises could be heard, and the wind blowing could be felt, indicating that the monsters were not only on the ground, but in the air too.

"Hm?"

Feeling the change in the environment, Ember’s head slightly moved to the left and her eyes narrowed, sensing the incoming danger.

Instinctively, she understood what was happening and came to a conclusion that her opponent had called her subordinates.

And so, without wasting anymore time, she increased the intensity of the black smoke surrounding the Vampire Queen, and was ready to finish her off once and for all.

However, she didn’t know that the vampire was already prepared.

When she increased the intensity of her black smoke, Lunéa closed her eyes and gathered every remaining strength she had, and with a sudden blast of her crimson aura, she caused the black smoke around her to scatter.

’What?’

This move of the Vampire Queen had caught Ember off guard and was not expecting her opponent to break free so easily.

And, that wasn’t the end, the vampire had more up her sleeve, and as soon as the smoke dispersed, she began to flap her wings and started to rise in the air.

She was trying to flee. She knew that Ember can’t fly and was going to escape and hide in a safe place until her children had taken care of the monster.

"I will be back,"

With that said, Lunéa flapped her wings one last time, and with great speed, she disappeared in the evening sky.

"yUO wOn’t GeT aWaY."

Noticing the vampire’s retreat, Ember gritted her teeth and raised her arm, wanting to send the black smoke in the air toward Lunéa, but—

Thwap!

—a punch hit her backside, causing her to fall face-first into the ground.

"Argh!"

The punch wasn’t just any ordinary punch. It was filled with great force, and had enough power to send her crashing into the ground.

And, if Ember wasn’t in her demonic form, then, the force might have even killed her.

"You have a lot of guts, aren’t you? Going against the queen and her subjects."

Lunéa’s voice resounded, and as Ember tried to push herself up from the ground, a heavy foot pressed on the back of her head, preventing her from doing so.

The foot, was also not normal. It was at least two or three times bigger than the average human’s, and was so heavy that no matter how much effort the monster put, she was unable to get out from under it.

Because, the thing which the humongous feet belonged to was an orc.

Yes, an orc, a humanoid monster with the appearance of a large and muscular man, and was three times bigger and taller than the average human male.

"GRRRR!"
