Chapter 98: Ember’s Monsterization (11)

"Yes," The Vampire Queen nodded, "The last words he uttered before dying were ’I am sorry,’ and, I don’t know what he was apologizing for. But, now I think he was apologizing to you."

She didn’t care about the girl and was simply talking. She didn’t even notice the change in the girl’s body, and kept rambling.

"Sorry, huh?" Ember whispered, as black smoke began to cover her entire body. "He is sorry, he said. Hah, he thinks a simple sorry is enough?"

"What did you say?"

The Vampire Queen’s eyes narrowed when she heard the girl’s whispers. She was still not sensing any threat from the girl, even after seeing the black smoke rising from her body.

"He thought a simple ’sorry’ would make up for what he has done? How naive."

As she spoke, Ember’s voice was becoming distorted, and her body was slowly transforming.

"I don’t need his apologies. I don’t want it."

Black stain-like patterns appeared all over her skin, and two thin horns emerged from the top of her head.

"What I need... What I want..."

With each word, Ember’s appearance changed, and her voice was changing too. It was not the voice of a normal girl, but that of a monster.

When it was happening, Lunéa began to increase the intensity of the pressure, trying to stop the transformation and crush Ember to death.

However, it was of no use. Ember’s body had already become so tough that no matter how much pressure Lunéa put, her bones and muscles wouldn’t snap.

’Urg! My mana isn’t enough to put more pressure.’

Since the Vampire Queen had used more than half of her mana fighting the trio, she didn’t have much left in her and could only put a bit more pressure on the girl’s body.

"What I need, what I want, is..."

Meanwhile, Ember continued to speak as her eyes began to shine with green light and her body also began to grow in size.

"I want him... For him to be by my side... And mine only. He has to pay the price for playing with me by living his whole life with me. He needs to give his everything to me."

As she spoke, a black scaly tail could be seen coming out of her backside which soon grew into a three-foot-long appendage.

"However, since you robbed me of my happiness, and took away my husband..."

By now, Ember was no longer the same girl she was a minute ago. Instead, the one lying there was a humanoid monster with scaly, dark-red skin and a pair of horns on its head.

"You are going to pay... pay for ever touching what is mine."

Her voice was still distorted and with a sinister laugh escaping her mouth, she began to push herself up from the ground, causing the Vampire Queen’s eyes to widen and her jaw to drop.

Lunéa’s eyes were no longer shining; instead, they were filled with a bit of fear and uncertainty.

’Dammit!’

Instinctively, she jumped back and stood on her feet. However, even after jumping back, the distance between her and the monster was no more than ten feet.

’I just wanted to test her. I didn’t expect her to turn into a monster. Shit! For the first time in life I let my fear drive my actions?’

She was not expecting the situation to escalate so quickly and could have prevented it if she didn’t let her emotions decide her actions.

Now, she was standing a few steps away from a seemingly powerful monster that looked like it was out for blood.

"yUo... wiLL... ReGrEt... iT."

A deep, hoarse, and distorted voice came from the monster’s mouth as it slowly stood up.

The sound was low, but loud enough for Lunéa to hear, and she was able to catch every word.

Thump!

Thump!

Thump!

The sound of Ember’s heartbeat was echoing in the silent surroundings and her heart was pumping blood faster than before.

The reason? Because her husband was dead, and his killer was in front of her.

So, what would a human do in such a situation?

Of course, they will get angry, and would want revenge. The first thing they will do is to make the one who did it pay.

The Vampire Queen was getting a bad feeling about this and her hands turned into fists as her eyes squinted and a serious expression formed on her face.

Ember was standing ten feet away from her with her body slightly hunched forward and her claws ready to pierce through the flesh of her target.

For a moment, she stayed still and tried to catch even the slightest sound made by Lunéa to detect her exact location.

But, nothing was heard, and the Vampire Queen knew that the monster in front of her couldn’t see, so she just stood where she was and didn’t move.

But, that doesn’t mean she wasn’t doing anything. No, she was using the time given by the girl to gather her mana and was trying to prepare herself for the incoming fight.

Soon, a red smoke began to surround the Vampire Queen and a crimson light was shining in her eyes.

It was her mana, and she was gathering all the mana she could, in order to put up a fight, because her senses were shouting to her that the monster in front of her is really dangerous.

However, she couldn’t completely prepare herself, because when the crimson aura began to emerge from her body, the monster noticed her presence and the next thing the vampire knew was the monster suddenly appearing in front of her.

"HUH?"

The Vampire Queen exclaimed in surprise, and the speed at which the monster appeared caught her off guard.

But, that doesn’t mean her battle experience has been useless. Without a second thought, she raised her hands and grabbed the incoming claws aimed for her face.

"Tch!" She clicked her tongue, and her eyes narrowed, "Did you think I would be an easy opponent?"

"Grrr," A growl came from the monster’s mouth and to answer Lunéa, she continued to speak, "YOur... DeaTh Is immINenT."

As soon as it said those words, the monster’s tail, which was previously limp, instantly moved toward Lunéa, and was aiming to pierce her.

Nonetheless, it didn’t take much effort for the vampire to avoid the attack by kicking the monster in the stomach and sending it flying back.

"Ugh," A grunt left the monster’s mouth as it landed on its feet and with a small skid, it stopped itself from being pushed further back.

"Phew," A relieved sigh escaped Lunéa’s mouth. Before, her senses had told her that the transformed monster in front of her was dangerous, but, what is this?

The monster wasn’t as strong as she thought it would be. In fact, she was barely able to feel a threatening pressure coming from the monster.

"Is that all you had? I guess I was just being overly cautious. Phew."

She was relieved. And, the red aura was slowly fading, but she wasn’t going to let her guard down and was keeping her eyes open, observing the monster.

"Hmm?"

However, when she took a look at the monster, the vampire noticed a weird expression on the monster’s face.

’Wait a second...’

Instinctively, she looked at her left hand and her eyes widened as she saw black aura covering the whole thing.

"What the hell?"

The Vampire Queen exclaimed and looked at the monster with an expression of confusion and suspicion.

"lIkE i SaID, YoU aRe aBout To... ReGReT... iT."

As the monster said it, the black aura surrounding the Vampire Queen’s arm blasted like a bomb, taking the outer skin and flesh along with it, leaving only muscles and bones visible.

"ARGHHHHHH!!"

A blood-curdling scream could be heard from the Vampire Queen’s mouth, as red liquid trickled down from her now-ruined limb.

"Hmph!"

The monster let out a snort and was looking at the woman who was grabbing her injured arm tightly, trying to lessen the pain.

"I KnoW iT CoulDn’T hAVe bLaSteD oFf yOUr ArM coMpLeTely. SO, wHy aRE yoU Screaming lIKe a bitCh?"

A mocking laugh followed, and the monster slowly began to move toward the Vampire Queen.

"I gUess... You mUSt haVe fElt a Lot oF Pain."

However, the Vampire Queen was not answering. Instead, her eyes were glued to her injured limb.

She was trying to regenerate herself, but her magic power wasn’t listening to her, and was not regenerating the lost skin and flesh.

"Wha– why isn’t it working?"
