Chapter 97: Ember’s Monsterization (10)
Lunéa was putting so much pressure on Ember’s body that even after falling to the ground, she could feel her ribs, bones, and muscles creaking under the pressure.
"Ack!"
With her body lying on the ground, the girl was breathing heavily and blood was leaking out of her mouth.
’What is this? Who- who is doing this?’
Thinking about the source of the invisible power, Ember was trying her best to stay conscious since the pressure wasn’t only pushing her down, but also trying to render her unconscious.
It was getting harder for her to stay awake. But, that doesn’t mean she will just give up and let the other person have their way.
’I am not gonna go down so easily,’
Gritting her teeth, Ember gathered all her remaining strength, and placed her hands at the sides of her head, ready to push her body upward and stand up.
’I will stand up.’
However, even after using everything she had, she could only push her head and chest upward, and that too for a split second before she fell back down.
’Fuck!’
This made her curse as she could not break free from the invisible pressure.
Witnessing her struggles, a smile formed on the vampire’s face and she let out a mocking laugh, "Ahahaha!"
The intensity of the sound of the laugh indicated that the person wasn’t far away and was quite close to the girl.
"What was that?" The vampire’s voice came, "Did you want to stand up? Well, not before you answer my questions."
Her tone was mocking and a faint giggle could be heard coming from her direction.
’Questions? What questions?’ Hearing the mysterious woman, Ember wondered what the questions would be. It isn’t like she had met this person before.
And, if it was a stranger who wanted to have a chat with her, then why would they put her under such immense pressure.
’They must have the wrong person. Yeah, they have the wrong person, and it is not me they want to have a talk with.’
Thinking this, Ember began to try and speak, and with much difficulty, she was able to make a few words come out.
"Wr-wrong pers–on.."
Her words were low and faint and would have probably been missed by the other party if they were standing a bit far from her.
"Huh?" The vampire was surprised, and a confused ’What?’ was heard.
"Wrong... per-son."
Ember repeated and her throat was burning because of the pressure directly hitting the back of her neck, making her words sound even more weak and unclear.
"Oh," It seems the vampire was finally able to hear her words, "I see, so you are saying I have the wrong person?"
Ember could sense that the invisible force was slightly lessening, and a faint smile formed on her face, as she managed to push a single word through her throat, "Yeah."
"Hmph!" The Vampire Queen harrumphed, and walked forward before sitting beside the girl.
Then, with her hand, she begin to touch and explore Ember’s crimson hair.
"What makes you think I have the wrong person, eh?"
Saying it, she grabbed some strands of the girl’s hair and pulled them out of her scalp, causing the girl to grit her teeth and groan.
"Argh!"
The pain was intense and her body began to tremble, but, her eyes were wide open and her mouth was closed tightly, preventing any sound to come out of it.
"Well?"
With a slight smile on her face, Lunéa let go of her hair and spoke.
"It doesn’t look like to me that I have the wrong person. Because your crimson hair clearly resembles the hair I had seen in that guy’s mind."
As the woman said that, Ember was dumbfounded. She didn’t know what she was talking about.
"W-what guy?"
Ember muttered and tried her best to tilt her head so that her ears were facing the woman, and could catch her words properly.
"What guy, you ask? Let me tell you who this guy is then."
Saying it, the vampire placed her index finger on her chin, and after thinking for a while, she finally spoke.
"Well, I don’t remember his name, but, he was quite a handsome guy. And, the most noticable thing about him was that he kept talking about his wife saying how much he loves her, and how beautiful she was."
Lunéa made up the whole story just to know if Ember was really someone who could hurt her and her race.
Because she didn’t want to kill an innocent, disabled girl, however, she also didn’t wanted to take a risk either. So, the only solution was to agitate her to see what would happen.
And, to make her angry, she had to say things that would make her furious, and well, Lunéa had one really good way to make her angry.
"And, by strange coincidence, you completely resemble the appearance of his wife. You even have the same hair, and the same emerald eyes."
’His wife, beautiful, love,’ Hearing the description, Ember knew the person this woman was talking about, and her brows furrowed.
"N-Nell... Did you meet h-him?"
She was a bit confused, but, now that she knew that her husband was here, she was no longer interested in listening to the other person, and instead, began to worry about her husband.
"Where is he? D-did something happen to him?"
She may have came here to teach Nellas a lesson for playing with her feelings, but, from the sound of the stranger, her husband seemed to be in danger.
So, without caring about the other person, Ember’s only thoughts were of her husband’s well-being, and whether he was okay or not.
"Yeah, he is okay," The Vampire Queen began, "As a matter of fact, he must be enjoying his life in heaven... Or... Maybe in hell. I don’t know which one, honestly."
Hearing the last sentence, Ember’s eyes widened and her head moved a little toward the woman’s voice.
"He-heaven?! H-hell?!"
The girl didn’t believe it. Her husband was alive. He was not dead. He must be playing dead again. So, she can’t believe this lie... Not again...
"Yup, he is dead."
However, Lunéa said those two words with no hesitation and her tone was clear. She was so confident in her words that it seemed like she had no doubt whatsoever.
"No," Ember shook her head and her lips parted. "You are lying. You are just saying this to trick me."
She was not going to trust the woman’s words and believed that her husband was definitely alive. He was alive and there was no need for her to worry about his life.
"Hah, what would I gain by lying to you, sweetheart?"
Lunéa was calm and her tone was not as mocking as before. It was a bit serious, and sounded as if she was talking to a child.
"I just don’t want you to get your hopes up and then have it shattered. It is better if you just accept the fact that he is no more."
"How, how can you be so sure?" Ember asked, "What makes you so confident in his death?"
She was desperate, and the only thing on her mind was whether her husband was alive or not.
She knew she couldn’t believe the words of this strange woman, she can’t fall in another trap again, but, no matter how hard she tried she was unable to stop herself from worrying.
"I am certain of it, because, I killed him."
Hearing the answer, Ember was speechless. Her mind went blank, and she wasn’t able to speak anything in response.
"No, wait. I didn’t kill him. I made him suffer and forced him to pull his own heart out of his chest."
Lunéa’s eyes glinted, and a sadistic smile was visible on her face. As for the red-haired girl, she was in a state of shock, and could do nothing but listen to the Vampire Queen’s words.
"Yeah, that’s right. He pulled out his own heart out of his chest, after I refused to stop torturing him. He kept begging me, asking me to stop. However, I was enjoying it so much that I couldn’t stop, and, well, eventually he killed himself."
"Y-you made him pull..." Finally, after hearing the whole thing, Ember was able to utter a few words, "...his own heart out."
She was trembling and tears could be seen streaming down her eyes, but, she was not wailing.
