Chapter 96: Ember’s Monsterization (9)

"I let him fool me again."

Lunéa muttered and the look in her eyes turned from angry to tired, and then from tired to disappointed.

She sighed and a few strands of her hair were blown away by the wind.

She could still feel the breeze created by the portal that had disappeared seconds ago.

"That guy..."

Saying it, the woman raised her hand and placed her thumb and her forefinger on her temples.

"He really tricked me,"

After shaking her head, the woman began to move forward. She could just teleport herself to the place she wanted to go but, no, she was going to walk.

It was not like she didn’t had enough mana to teleport herself. She had more than what was needed in order to do so, but, she just wanted to get a grip on herself.

"I let my guard down,"

She said and her legs moved forward with slow movements.

"Next time, I won’t,"

Her eyes were looking ahead, and the green scenery was passing by her as her feet touched the soft grass.

However, as she was just a few steps aways from the place where she was standing before, a sudden gust of wind hit her back, causing her hair to flutter forward.

"This..."

She mumbled, and her gaze shifted from the green scenery to the newly formed, black swirling mass with blue outline at her back.

"Did he come back?"

Her eyes narrowed, and she looked a bit more closely, trying to see if there was anyone or something in the portal.

"H-huh?"

A shocked stutter left her mouth as her gaze caught the glimpse of a redhead girl stepping out of the portal.

’Is-is she...?!’

It was Ember, and the vampire was taken aback, not expecting the crying girl she had seen in Nellas’ eyes to suddenly appear in front of her.

....

Meanwhile, in the outside world, when Nellas had just stepped out of the portal and onto the hard concrete, he saw his wife going inside a portal some feet away from him.

"Ember?"

He let out a subconscious mutter and his eyes followed the girl’s movement until she vanished into the gate.

The whole process didn’t even take 2 seconds, so, before his mind could register that his blind wife was actually going into a portal, the girl was already inside and he was unable to shout her name, and tell her to stop.

"System,"

As soon as Ember was gone, the man spoke.

"Was she really Ember? Did she just go inside the dungeon?"

Nell was still a bit confused, and he was looking at the gate which had already closed.

Ding!

[Since I am unable to contact to the other 49% part of me, I can’t be sure. But, based on the appearance, I believe it is her.]

"But, how could she–"

Ding!

Before Nellas could even finish his words, the system responded.

It had predicted what he was going to ask, and sent a message that read:

[Honestly, I don’t know what she is doing here, or how she got here. My connection with her system was broken after she went inside the bathroom with the help of Marine after waking up.

After that, the only massage I received from my other part was that she was in danger and was going to die soon. Then, the connection was lost again, rendering me unable to get any more info. That is all.]

After reading the new information that the system had provided, Nellas was now a bit more confused and had a worried expression on his face.

Just now he came to know that the system his wife was seeing wasn’t the same system he was using, rather, it was a different part of it.

The 49% ownership of the system that was given to his wife wasn’t just ownership, instead, the system divided itself into two parts of 51% that stayed with him and 49% with her.

So, the reason Ember was able to send him messages was because the 49% that was with her was able to contact the 51% part which was with him.

However, now that the 49% was no longer connected with the 51%, the messages could no longer be sent, and Nellas was unable to contact his wife.

But, the problem was not that the two parts of the system were disconnected. No, that wasn’t the problem.

The real problem was that Ember was actually inside the dungeon, and Nellas had to do something to get her out of it safely.

"So, you can’t send my messages to her and notify her to stop?"

Nellas asked the obvious question and waited for the system’s answer.

Ding!

[Yes, host. Unfortunately, I am not able to reach my other half. As for your wife being here, I think my other half must have given her your last location of when he was connected with me, and told her that you are in the dungeon.]

Reading the message, Nellas’ eyes squinted, and his lips opened for a bit before some words left his mouth, "D-does that mean she has realized I am not dead."

[Perhaps. Given the circumstances it is possible.]

"Tch!"

After reading the reply, Nellas clicked his tongue, "Quick, open the gate and get me inside the dungeon. I have to save her before Lunéa does anything to her."

Ding!

[Sorry, I can’t. There is a cooldown time of 30 minutes before I can reopen the dungeon’s gate.]

"Shit!" Nellas cursed as his worries for his wife peaked to a new level, "Fuck!"

....

After Ember placed her both feet out of the portal onto the green grassy land, she felt a strange aura coming from her right side.

Her instincts were telling her that someone was standing there and was watching her.

So, without turning or showing any kind of movement, the girl stood in a calm position.

"Nell?"

She presumed this person to be her husband, since he was the only one she was expecting to be here. And, there were no signs of the presence of another being, or life force.

"..."

Nevertheless, even after waiting for a few moments, no answer came from the mysterious person and silence was the only thing she was getting back.

"Hmm,"

Ember’s brows furrowed and a confused hum left her mouth.

"Are you him? Or not?"

Still no answer, and the girl was getting a little anxious, and so, her tone changed a bit, and her words were a bit more stern.

"Haaa, the first person I eet after coming here is you? A dumb mute?"

She was still getting no answer, and this time, the girl didn’t bother speaking any more.

She just took a step forward and once again began her journey to find her husband.

She wouldn’t have minded what and who the other person was, and would have left them alone.

However, as she was going to walk away, she felt a sudden wave of killing intent coming from behind her.

"?!"

This made the girl stop in her tracks. She had never sensed any kind of killing intent before, so she was unaware of this feeling being the killing intent.

But, she could feel a strange cold sensation running down her spine when this feeling emerged.

"W-what is this coldness?"

Raising her hands, she began to rub her arms, trying to warm herself.

"This... It is... Behind..."

Her instincts were telling her what was giving her this cold feeling and were indicating her the direction where it was coming from.

"So. You are that crying girl, huh?"

All of a sudden, a feminine voice was heard and it was coming from the same direction where the killing intent was also coming from.

"?!"

The coldness was not fading and the voice was a bit sharp, as if the person was annoyed and was not hiding her hostility.

’Crying girl?’ Ember was dumbfounded and was confused by the words spoken by the mysterious voice.

"I am sure you must have some kind of connection with the demon I saw in that guy’s eyes."

As soon as the voice finished its sentence, the cold feeling began to disappear, and an invisible pressure began to push down on Ember.

"Urg!"

It was slowly increasing by every second passed, causing her head to slowly drop down.

This made the girl feel suffocated and her breath got heavier as the pressure increased.

’What— what is this pressure,’

Soon, Ember’s knees couldn’t hold her anymore and they dropped, causing the rest of her body to fall toward the ground.

"Argh!"
