Chapter 92: Ember’s Monsterization (5)
[Sorry, too low on power to complete the following request. Please wait for at least 10 minutes so that the system can recover some of its energy and execute your request.]
Just as the Ember’s helpless, desperate cry rang out, a loud ding sound rang in her head, followed by a message from the system.
She read the words on the screen and stared at it for a while before dropping her head down again.
The system was also going through a huge power outage, and its energy reserves were almost dry.
It also couldn’t help her with anything, and only advised her to wait.
One can easily tell that it was some kind of already-decided plot in some kind of shitty story.
"Urrg, okay,"
Ember let out a sigh and nodded her head before leaning her back against the bathtub and relaxing her muscles.
She closed her eyes and tried her best to forget the incident and the guilt that she was feeling, and waited for the time to pass.
This time, it was working and the voice of her conscious mind was dying down, and it was now almost impossible to hear.
Soon, she regained her calm and the feeling of guilt was slowly leaving her heart.
She had managed to suppress her consciousness, and her mind had finally gotten used to the fact that she killed someone.
"Hah~,"
With a sigh, Ember opened her eyes and moved her hands to touch her cheeks, only to realize that her skin was already dry.
The tears had stopped and she was not crying anymore.
However, she could still feel the strange sensation against the palms of her hands.
It was the dried-up blood that was covering her skin, and she couldn’t feel any wetness on her face.
"Hmm, I should take a bath."
She stood up and instinctively stepped inside the bathtub, only to slip and fall inside it.
"Oww!"
Thud!
"Aargh,"
The water spilled outside, and the bathtub was now filled with Ember.
She was lying inside the bathtub and had her face buried in the water.
She was still in her clothes and the dried blood was slowly seeping out, dyeing the clear water with red.
"Damn,"
A muffled sound came from beneath the water, and she pulled her head up.
Her face was dripping and the hair that was covering her eyes was now hanging down and touching the tip of her nose.
The blood covering her face had already dissolved to some extent and the red color was mixed inside the water.
"It feels good,"
The girl said and closed her eyes as her body relaxed and she rested her head on the side of the bathtub.
The water was a bit on the cold side, but, she didn’t care, and wanted to remove the blood stains off her body.
After a moment of rest, the girl got up and stepped outside of the tub before walking toward the door.
The blue outlines in her vision had already vanished long ago.
It was just her Instincts that she was able to sense where the door was and walk toward it.
Reaching closer to the door, Ember just slightly turned her head to the side where the corpse she made was lying.
"MERCI,"
A smile formed on her face, and the girl opened the door and walked out of the bathroom.
The dead man lying on the floor, the bloody dagger, the pool of blood, and the severed hand’s pieces were all proof that this place wouldn’t be the same as before.
Nor Ember, who had already taken a step into the darkness, which couldn’t be pulled back even if she tried a million times.
.....
..
.
After coming out of the bathroom, Ember made her way to the kitchen, where she began to search for Marine’s body.
The assassin did say that he had already taken care of the other bitch and at that time only Marine was the one who was inside the apartment.
And looking at how Marine didn’t come to the bathroom to know the situation when Ember had made really loud maniacal laughs, it was easy to deduce that she was dead.
However, it was still a question of where exactly was her body, and Ember was going to find that.
As she searched for her body, her hands were moving over every single surface and object.
The kitchen was a place that wasn’t too big, and after searching for a few minutes, she found the corpse.
It was her foot which suddenly hit something, and it was Marine’s body.
It was lying near the kitchen counter and was just dumped there.
However, as Ember examined her body for any sign of blood or injury, her brows furrowed, since she wasn’t able to find anything like that.
"Is she really dead?"
The girl muttered under her breath and grabbed the body’s arm, before trying to sense its pulse.
’Hmm, let’s see,’
The girl concentrated, and her senses moved from her hands toward the dead woman’s wrist.
1 Minute... Passed.
2 Minutes... Passed.
3 Minutes... Passed.
Just like that five minutes had passed and Ember was still clutching Marine’s wrist.
She was trying her best but wasn’t able to detect anything because...
"Damn, how does one check for the pulse?"
Ember mumbled and dropped the corpse’s arm, causing it to fall back on the floor.
The girl didn’t know anything about human anatomy and didn’t know how to check the pulse of someone, and that was causing her great trouble.
"Ah, whatever, if she is alive then she is if not then it is not my problem,"
She said, however, just as she was about to get up and leave the unconfirmed death behind, a screen appeared.
Ding!
[To know whether someone is alive or not, you have to check their pulse. To do that, you have to first find the pulse point, and then press your thumb against the spot, and apply pressure. By doing so, the blood vessel will compress and the flow of blood will increase, thus creating a stronger pulse that will be visible and felt by your thumb.
Note: For normal humans, the pulse is near the thumb where the hand and the forearm meet, whereas for monsters, the location varies and it changes with each and every species.]
After reading the description, an understanding "Oh," left Ember’s mouth as she nodded slightly.
But never mind, Ember didn’t care about whether she was alive or not.
After all, she was also playing with Ember’s feelings just like Nellas did, and so, now, she doesn’t deserve any kindness or mercy from her.
Therefore, Ember got up from the ground, and with her drenched clothes still clinging to her skin she walked toward the main door.
She remembered it was just some steps away from the kitchen and the living room, and that she would easily be able to reach it.
"Now, what’s next?"
Ember reached the door and wandered her hand over its side to find the handle.
Click!
"Ah, there it is,"
Finding the handle, the girl opened the door and stepped out of the house.
The fresh breeze blew past her and her face was hit with the soft, chilly wind.
Some marks of the blood were still visible on her clothes which were a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt, and there was a faint smell of the metallic blood lingering around her.
"Now, System tell me where my damn husband is?"
Saying it, the girl’s brows furrowed as she anticipated the answer.
But, because Nellas held more than 75% ownership of the system, it couldn’t give her any information about Nellas’s location.
The reason?
He had specifically ordered the system to not tell Ember about his whereabouts and not give her any information.
"Fuck!"
A curse left the girl’s mouth as she stomped her foot on the ground, causing the concrete beneath her bare foot’s heel bone to crack.
"So, you aren’t gonna tell me?"
She asked and after a few seconds, her lips curled up into a smile as an idea hit her.
"Looks like you don’t think of me as his wife now,"
Saying it, her head tilted a bit and she raised her left hand.
"Well, that’s a shame,"
With her other hand, she grabbed the Darkest Night ring which was given to her as a wedding ring.
Then, after having a firm grasp on it, she spoke in a mocking tone.
"Looks like I am not worthy enough to wear it."
[H-huh? W-w-wait!]
