A soft moan left Ember’s mouth as her eyes slowly began to open.

Her eyes were heavy, and her mind was filled with a feeling of confusion and drowsiness.

She had just woken up, and her senses were not functioning properly.

Ember wondered and with sluggish moves, she began to sit up.

After a bit of struggling, Ember was able to sit up and was now trying to shake her drowsiness away.

She rubbed her eyes, stretched her arms, and after a little bit of yawning, she finally got rid of her laziness.

The reply was quick, and in response, Ember didn’t say anything.

The sun rays filtering through the curtain of the window were falling on her face so she already knew that the sun was already at its peak from the heat she was feeling.

However, the current time still shocked her a bit, and, it wasn’t to the point where she would have wide eyes or dropped jaw.

There was no frown on her face, no wrinkles on her forehead, no twitching eyebrows, no narrowing eyes, and no change in her breathing.

With her head lowered, slightly opened lifeless eyes, and an unamused look on her face, Ember’s body was completely still.

She looked like a mannequin that was sitting in the middle of an empty room.

If someone were to come and look at her, then, they would definitely get the chills and would surely get the idea that something was not right.

It was like a calm before a storm.

Her hands were just hanging at the sides of her body, and her legs were just straight in front of her body.

Her crimson hair was dangling at the sides of her shoulders, and they were covering the side of her cheeks.

She didn’t move a single muscle and just stayed in that posture for a few minutes before parting her pale pink lips and letting out a sigh.

"I suppose Marine hasn’t woken up yet?"

Just as those words left her mouth, her ear suddenly caught Marine’s voice which was coming from her back.

"Who said that I haven’t woken up?"

With the help of the phone that was placed on the bedside table, Marine was able to listen to the sound inside the room and was able to reply to Ember’s question.

Hearing the words that reached her ears, Ember was a bit surprised.

"Marine?"

The voice was oddly similar to her neighbor’s, but, it was so quiet and somewhat had a weird tinge to it.

It was all because of the voice being transmitted through the phone’s speaker.

Other than that, there was no other reason.

Nevertheless, Ember was oblivious to it, since, she didn’t have much experience in this field.

And given that she didn’t own a phone also added to it.

That’s why she was a bit shocked and even a little bit curious.

"Yeah, it is me, Marine. I am calling you using a mobile. Since you didn’t own one I left mine in the side table so that we can communicate."

Marine explained and silence enveloped the room.

It was Ember who was silent, and her face was still the same as it was some moments ago.

She didn’t even nod her head or let out any kind of voice to notify that she was listening.

Which was why, Marine who was just a bit worried at the beginning was now full-blown concerned.

"Hey, are you listening?"

Marine asked, and this time her voice had a hint of worry to it.

"I am."

Ember’s reply was simple and short, and a sigh of relief left Marine’s lips, who was expecting to hear a ’Yeah’ or a ’Yes’ from the other side.

"That’s good. Now listen. I have left some food on the table. It will stay hot until you touch it. So, eat it and wait for me to come back."

Once Marine was done, Ember, with an emotionless tone, replied, "Okay."

Hearing the monotone voice, the corner of Marine’s eyes twitched, and she let out a long, annoyed sigh.

’Is she like this with everyone or does she hate me?’

With a small frown, Marine looked at the phone in her hand, and after a second, she clicked the mic button so that any voice from her side wouldn’t reach Ember.

’This girl really has one or two problems. She even sleeps for too long.’

Marine’s annoyance was slowly turning into anger, and the frown on her face deepened.

"Just who the hell in the world sleeps for eighteen hours straight?! Huh?!"

The words of her heart came out of her mouth without her control and made her friend, Aisha, who was sitting in the driver’s seat beside her, look at her with a confused expression.

"18 hours?"

She repeated and raised an eyebrow, wondering whether her ears had heard it correctly.

Marine was a bit shocked, and she turned her head toward Aisha before asking, "Did I say that loud?"

"Yeah," Aisha replied and pointed at the phone in her friend’s hand before adding, "What’s wrong? Have the person you are talking with slept for 18 hours straight?"

"Yeah."

"Oh~" Aisha let out a short reply and didn’t continue her conversation.

She could clearly see that the woman sitting beside her was annoyed and had a sour look on her face.

She was gritting her teeth and her brows were twitching.

Aisha didn’t want to disturb her friend so she just focused on the scene in front of her where the Heroes and the news anchors were still waiting for their cue.
