Dark Evolution Begins with Marrying an SSS-CLASS Blind Monster -
Chapter 78: Marine’s Characteristics (2)
Chapter 78: Marine’s Characteristics (2)
The world contains many dungeons that are spread around the globe.
These dungeons are the home of creatures and monsters that were never seen by humans until 5 years ago.
In these dungeons, humans can obtain powers and items that can help them in fighting the monsters.
However, to obtain such things one has to enter the dungeons and fight.
Fight with the creatures and kill them.
That’s the only way.
But, for that, one first has to understand the different kinds of dungeons and their difficulty.
Because not all the dungeons are the same.
They are categorized into three levels.
Low, High, and Super.
However, the difficulty of each category is not the same.
The lowest one is the low category and it is composed of D-Class and C-Class dungeons.
Then, there is the High Category and it is composed of the B-Class and A-Class dungeons.
As for the last one, which is the Super Category, it only contains one kind of dungeon.
And, it is S-Class dungeons.
It is the strongest one, and the monsters present inside the dungeon are very strong and hard to beat.
Moreover, an S-Class dungeon is a dungeon in which if someone tries to clear it and fails, then the entrance/exit of the dungeon would blow up and the monsters inside would flood out, causing the nearby areas to go into chaos instantly.
"Hello, viewers. Welcome to the latest episode of ’The Dungeon Report!’. I, your host, am here in front of an S-Class dungeon."
A steamer girl, with a mobile in her hand, was going livestream.
Her voice was sweet, and her eyes were focused on the mobile’s screen.
"A few hours ago, the news of someone entering this dungeon alone spread all around the world. It was a shocking piece of information and everyone was surprised. After all, not many are crazy enough to do such a dangerous thing."
The girl smiled and moved her phone a little to the side as she showed the place where the dungeon’s entrance was.
There, many Heroes with their weapons at ready were hoping for the guy to come out alive.
But, if the guy didn’t come out alive then it would be a disaster.
Which was why everyone was on their toes.
"He is an anonymous Hero, and we don’t know much about him. However, we hope he is not dead and is trying to clear the dungeon as we speak."
She explained, and her stream was being viewed by millions of people.
People, who were also hoping for the guy to come out of the dungeon alive.
Because if he doesn’t, then the lives of the people residing in the city will be gone in just a few minutes.
Which was a scary thought.
"I can’t wait to see him."
The girl smiled and hoped that the guy wasn’t dead and would come out of the dungeon any moment now so that she could get him in her Livestream.
Alongside her, some other streamers and many news channels were also live-streaming the area.
And, they were also wishing the same thing.
—I know who that guy is!!!—
Suddenly, the streamer girl’s attention was grabbed by a comment that had thousands of likes.
"Huh? Who is he?"
She was a bit curious, and after seeing the reply, a smile appeared on her lips as her eyes widened.
"Oh."
—It is the strongest Hero in the world ’Demonic Extractor’! Other than him, there is no other person who is strong enough to do such a thing.—
The comment was interesting and the girl couldn’t help but chuckle before speaking up.
"Viewers, there is a new theory saying that the anonymous Hero is the strongest player in the world, Demonic Extractor. What do you guys think? Is it him or not?"
As she was waiting for the comments to roll in, a red car could be seen coming in from the distance.
Soon, the car stopped, and two young women came out of the car.
They were Aisha and Marine.
"Is this the place?"
Marine’s voice was calm, and she looked at the crowd of Heroes gathered around a specific point.
"Yeah, this is the place."
Aisha was a bit nervous, and after a moment of silence, she began to walk forward, and Marine followed her.
In her hand was a phone on which a call was going but the mic was muted.
It was Aisha’s phone but Marine had taken it and was using it.
She had to keep a watch over Ember and didn’t want her to get scared or feel lonely.
So, using the call, she could hear the sounds around the room and the sound of Ember’s breathing.
This was the only thing she could think of.
Which was why she was holding the phone in her hand and was not giving it back to her friend.
"We are here, and now we just have to wait for him to come out."
Aisha was a bit worried, and her voice was a bit loud due to the noises created by the Heroes and the news anchors.
"Yeah, I can see that."
Marine nodded her head, and her gaze moved to look at the crowd.
It was big and noisy, and many Heroes were talking with each other while others were just staying silent.
"Do you think he will make it?"
Marine’s question was sudden, and her voice was a bit low as her gaze moved to look at her friend’s face.
Aisha took a deep breath, and after a moment of silence, a reply was heard.
"I don’t know. Maybe."
She also wasn’t sure, just like all the other people present here.
"I hope he does."
Marine stated and Aisha nodded her head.
"Yeah, I do too."
Then, they stayed silent and the phone in Marine’s hand was still connected with Ember’s room.
The call had already been going on for an hour, and there was no sound coming from the phone except for the breathing.
Ember was still sleeping and nothing had happened since then.
"..."
Marine stayed still and listened to the soft breaths coming from the phone.
It wasn’t like she wanted to babysit Ember and it also wasn’t like she was worried about her.
No, none of that.
She was doing it only because of Nellas.
She knew Nellas wouldn’t blame her even if something happened to Ember.
Nevertheless, it would surely make him sad, and Marine didn’t want him to feel sad.
After going through the aftereffects of losing one’s love, Marine knew the feeling and didn’t want him to go through the same.
If he actually likes Ember then why not just support him?
That was her conclusion.
She would just look at him from a distance and wouldn’t interfere.
But, she will do one thing.
She would make sure that no one harmed him or his feelings.
Because, as long as Nellas has a smile on his face, she will also have a small one on her lips.
But, alongside that small, faint smile, she would also have some unshed tears in her eyes.
Tears that were filled with loneliness.
And the feelings of her heart that would never leave her.
"..."
Marine closed her eyes and stayed still.
She was trying to calm her emotions and stop the memories of her past from flooding her mind.
However, a single thought kept on appearing.
A thought that was repeating again and again.
’I want to see him.’
Yes, it was Nellas.
She wanted to see his smiling face.
’Just, his smiling face. That’s all.’
She wanted to see him just once.
To see him smiling at her once more, and look at her like someone he truly cared for.
It would be nice if that happened.
’But, I don’t think that would happen.’
A small smile formed on her lips as she opened her eyes.
Yes, she still was sure that Nellas would never look at her the way she wanted him to look.
And the current smile on her face is just a... Smile?
It was a mask for the outer world, so that, they wouldn’t be able to see the pain inside her heart.
A mask may not be able to hide the truth.
However, it can still hide her tears and the pain in her heart.
It was better than nothing.
And, as long as no one sees through her mask, she will keep wearing it.
A smile and a mask of fake happiness.
"PHEW~!"
A heavy and tired sigh escaped her lips and she closed the screen of the mobile before placing it in her pocket.
"Marine?" Aisha, who was looking at her the whole time, was a bit confused. Because her best friend’s face was pale, and the small hint of sadness in her eyes was also clearly visible.
So, she was worried.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I am," Marine answered, and Aisha’s eyes narrowed as a frown formed on her forehead.
She could see the lie in her friend’s words and could also see that she was trying to hide something.
Something that she didn’t want her to know.
However, before she could say anything, her friend’s voice reached her ears again, and her words made her freeze.
"Don’t worry, I am fine."
Hearing it, Aisha decided not to push the topic any further because that was the right decision.
"Okay,"
She nodded her head and after that, she turned around to look at the crowd in front of them.
"Seems like we have to wait for a bit longer. Let’s go back in the car and wait."
Aisha said, and Marine nodded her head, "Yeah, let’s."
Then, the two young women turned around and walked toward the car.
