Chapter 69: The Vampire’s Challenge

Chapter 69: The Vampire’s Challenge

The Vampire God walked down the path and Nell couldn’t help but feel a little nervous as the enemy stopped a few feet away from him.

He was looking at Nellas’ face with an intense amount of curiosity, and he was standing there without saying anything.

However, after a moment, the vampire’s mouth opened, and the words that escaped his lips, made Nellas’ expression turn dark.

"So, you are the Hero sent by humans to kill us? I must say, I was expecting a strong person, not a weakling like you."

His tone was filled with mockery, and his words were not only humiliating, they were also disrespectful.

"Weakling?" Nellas couldn’t help but repeat and narrow his eyes.

"Well, yes, a weakling. You don’t have any skills and, not only that, you have an even weaker constitution. So, why should I feel threatened? Hahahaha,"

The Vampire God let out a laugh, and the sound echoed in the silent forest.

He was not hiding his disdain, and it was clear that he was just playing with Nellas.

However, the guy didn’t back down and replied with a smile.

"Oh, sorry, I didn’t know that Vampires could judge the strength of someone based on their constitution."

He shrugged and looked at the Vampire with his black eyes, which had no signs of fear.

"Also, I can say the same about the ’weakling’ part, because, if I am not wrong, it is Vampires who can’t even go out in the sun.

Yeah, I wonder how many people are alive because of this weakness of yours.

It is a real shame that such a great race has to hide in the darkness.

But, I guess that’s just natural, isn’t it?

After all, vampires are a disgrace."

Nellas finished with a snicker and a small chuckle.

His words were not nice, and if someone heard them, then it would have been clear to them that he was taunting the Vampire God.

Nevertheless, he had no intention to hide his contempt.

After all, this was not the time to show any respect.

No, this was the time to be cruel.

The Vampire God, who was smiling before, didn’t laugh.

Instead, his expression darkened and his smile turned into a frown.

"Oh, a shame? So, you think Vampires are a disgrace? Huh."

The voice he spoke had a hint of anger and his red pupils constricted as a low growl left his mouth.

"I don’t know where you got your confidence from, but, if you think that Vampires are weak, then, I would love to show you the true strength of my kind.

How about it, since you are the first Hero to visit this dungeon, you are entitled to special treatment."

The Vampire God smirked, and Nellas, whose face was also turning darker, didn’t look away as he stared at the red pupils.

"Special Treatment?"

He repeated and his voice was filled with mockery, and he didn’t reply with a nod, instead, he continued with a grin.

"I would love to have it."

His voice was confident and he didn’t back down as he stepped closer to the Vampire.

He was getting closer and the distance between him and the vampire was getting smaller.

And, when the gap was just a few inches, he stopped.

"But, sorry, I am not really interested in being treated nicely by a monster like you."

Nellas finished, and a small chuckle left his lips.

However, it didn’t stay for long, as a second later, the Vampire God also began to laugh.

"Hahaha,"

His mouth opened and his laughter, which was a bit loud, once again echoed in the forest.

The sound was creepy, and the vampires, who were surrounding the two, joined him, laughing along with him.

"Hahahaha,"

A few seconds went by and the vampire stopped, but, a smirk was visible on his lips.

"I like it. Don’t know if it is your bravery or your foolishness, but, whatever it is, I like it.

So, let’s play a game."

The Vampire God finished and snapped his fingers.

Snap!

Then, his body began to disperse into thin air.

And just like him, the other vampires, without saying anything, also vanished.

Not even their shadows could be seen.

"Game? What game?"

Nellas muttered and his eyes scanned the place around him, searching for the vampires.

However, he couldn’t see them.

’Where are they? How did they vanish into thin air?’

The man was confused, and the frown on his face got deeper.

’Should have at least told me what game he is talking about.’

A sigh left his mouth and a moment later, his head snapped as the sounds of leaves rustling could be heard.

The wind was blowing and the trees were moving.

It was not strange, however, Nellas was feeling a sense of dread as the sounds were getting closer.

The leaves were moving and the sound of footsteps could be heard.

"Wha-"

Before Nellas could even finish, a shadow leaped out of the dark and stood a few feet away from him.

A human figure.

’Human? Or a vampire?’

Nellas narrowed his eyes and tried to inspect the figure.

However, before he could, the shadow spoke.

"Participant Hero, I am assigned by Vampire God to guide you through the game."

The voice seemed to be a woman’s and the guy couldn’t help but stare at her in a weird manner.

’Guide? But, I can’t see her.’

The man was feeling perplexed, and the reason behind his confusion was the figure.

Or, should we say, the shadow.

It was just a shadow without a single feature.

’Why is it like this?’

Nellas wondered and was about to speak, however, the woman didn’t wait and continued.

"If the participant wishes to play, then, please walk in the direction of the path."

She pointed in the direction and a narrow path, which was created by the forest trees, was visible.

The light was falling on the path and the shadows of the trees were covering the ground.

It was a strange sight, and the man, after a moment, nodded.

"Okay,"

He replied and took a step towards the path while the shadowy woman followed behind him.

’Let’s see what is the Vampire God’s game is?’

He thought and kept walking.

His goal was to just get strong anyway, so, by playing the game, he had a chance to get strong in ways he wouldn’t have imagined.

So, without any hesitation, the man followed the path and was ready to face the challenges that were awaiting him.
