Chapter 68: Reincarnated Ember
Chapter 68: Reincarnated Ember
A moment of silence followed after the voice finished, and Nellas, who was already nervous, couldn’t help but take a sharp breath.
His heart was beating fast, and his mouth was dry as a lump was forming in his throat.
A despair was spreading in his chest, and a cold feeling ran through his whole body.
He couldn’t really understand what this fictitious voice was saying.
It couldn’t be true.
Because he had just met Ember a few days ago.
And she was still alive.
As of now, she must be sleeping in his house.
So why was this voice telling him such nonsense?
Why was it speaking about his wife dying?
Why was it talking about him killing her?
None of the things he heard made sense.
He would never do something like that.
No, he couldn’t even think about it.
She was his love.
So, there was no way.
No way that he would ever harm her.
Never.
Ever.
’Ember...’
Thought the guy and a memory of the girl popped up in his mind.
He had just met her for the first time a few days ago and yet the words of the voice were making him feel as if he had met her a long, long time ago.
And, the strangest thing was that he felt a certain nostalgia whenever he thought about Ember.
However, he couldn’t remember.
He didn’t have a memory of meeting Ember before.
Yet, the feeling was there.
It was confusing.
’Am I going crazy?’
After thinking about it for a while Nellas let out a dry laugh; "Hahaha,"
In response, the voice didn’t speak, and after the laugh, a sigh came out of Nell’s mouth.
"I don’t know who you are, and what you want to achieve by saying all this, but, you are wrong."
His lips curved upward into a smile as he continued.
"My wife isn’t dead. She is alive and well. If you are trying to break my mental state, then, you are failing. You should give up."
His tone was firm and his eyes were staring at the void.
There was nothing, and he couldn’t see the owner of the voice.
Yet, his ears could hear everything.
"Wait!"
Hearing Nellas’ words the voice suddenly changed its tone and sounded surprised.
"She... She also has been reincarnated? I can’t believe this. It means..."
It mumbled, and the guy was waiting for it to complete its sentence, however, it didn’t happen, and after a moment, the voice continued.
"So, this is what’s happening, huh? It looks like I don’t have to show you what you have done because she will do it herself."
It finished, and Nellas couldn’t help but narrow his brows.
He couldn’t understand what the voice was trying to say.
’Reincarnated? Who? Is it Ember? What is he talking about?’
His mind was running, and as the guy was thinking, the voice, with a chuckle, said,
"Don’t worry, she will make you remember your sins. And the blood you have shed. She will remind you of the past. Your past."
The voice was getting further and further, and the guy wanted to say something but the voice, which didn’t wait for his reply, said.
"I hope you are ready, Demon Lord.
Because she is coming.
And when that happens it will be the end.
She will make you take your last breath."
It was the last thing Nellas heard and the next moment, everything turned white.
Then, a moment later, colors begin to appear in the white space.
’What is this?’
Confusion rose inside Nell’s mind as the image became clear and he saw the familiar place he was in earlier.
The forest.
[Host, you have been recovered from the temporary death.
The wound has healed and the host has 450/500 health points.]
The screen was in front of him and after reading the words on the screen, his eyes went wide as he looked down at his neck.
His hands reached the place and his fingers touched the flesh.
It was not torn apart.
Not anymore.
His wounds had been healed and the flesh was back.
There was no sign of the injury and the only thing visible was a black line.
It was a scar and a reminder of the injury.
It was also proof that what had happened was not a dream.
No, it was not.
So, Nellas looked around, and as he did, his eyes caught the image of many figures wearing black cloaks on both his left and right.
’What?’
He was on the ground, surrounded by countless vampires who were standing in lines, and all of them were looking in one direction.
’What are they looking at?"
His eyes followed their gaze and a small gasp left his mouth as he saw a person standing in front of the vampires.
"You have woken up? That was quick. I thought it would take some more time."
The person, or to be precise the vampire standing in front of all others, spoke.
And as soon as Nellas heard his voice, his hands moved as he stood up and clenched his fists.
"Vampire God?"
He muttered, and a moment later, the vampire who was talking with him, let out a grin.
"Yeah, it is me."
Confirmation.
This confirmation made Nellas’ eyes go wide and his mind race.
’What? But... This isn’t possible. Shouldn’t he be on the last floor of the dungeon? Why is he here?’
Questions popped up in his mind, and he couldn’t help but be a little shocked.
However, he wasn’t nervous, and the shock passed in a second.
Instead, a frown appeared on his face and he looked around.
There were so many vampires and each one of them was looking at him.
Yet, not one of them moved.
"What is the meaning of this?"
Nellas asked, and the Vampire God, who was watching him with his crimson blood eyes, smiled, "Well, I came to greet you, of course."
Saying that he took a step forward, and the other vampires, in unison, took a step back.
They were forming a circle and leaving a path for their leader.
