Chapter 66: A Deadly Encounter
Chee!
Chee!!
Chee!!!
Chee...!!!
The sound of the bats’ squeaking was heard and the humanoid monsters who had black skin were approaching Nellas with a creepy smile on their face.
There were six of them, and they weren’t actually walking toward him, no, in fact, they were floating as their legs couldn’t even be seen because of the black cloak they were wearing.
But the cloaks couldn’t cover their faces and their white, shiny, and pointy teeth were visible to Nell.
As for the bats, they were in a group of three and their sizes were not big, they were small.
Yet, their wings were spread, and they were flying above Nellas in circles, while their squeaking sounds continued.
As for Starlight, he just stood there without moving an inch.
His gaze was fixed on the vampires who were approaching him and were just a few feet away from him.
He wasn’t thinking about anything or even panicking.
No, he was calm and there was no hint of fear or nervousness in his eyes.
It was weird.
Because, just a moment ago, he was kind of panicking and his heartbeat was getting faster as he was thinking about the possibility of vampires being in the dungeon.
And, now, when they were right in front of him, he wasn’t feeling anything.
Not even excitement.
He wasn’t happy, sad, or angry.
Instead, he was just...
Nothing.
He was nothing.
There were no emotions or feelings.
No thoughts.
Just empty.
Like a hollow shell.
And the only thing visible was the desire.
To kill.
To tear.
’Tear... Tear... Tear... Kill... Kill... Kill...’
These thoughts entered Nellas’s mind and a wide smile bloomed on his face.
It was an inhumane smile, and as for his eyes, they were nothing but a deep black void.
They were pitch-black and empty.
Not even a single strand of light could be seen.
[’Dark Zombie’s Instinct’ activated successfully.
Note: Due to the ’Dark Evolution’ skill upgrading to lvl. 2 you won’t be charged Dark Mana points while activating any mode of your default form.]
The system’s notification popped up in his vision as the system, according to the host’s desire, activated the skill.
It wasn’t like Nellas wanted to activate the skill.
No, it was his instinct.
His senses and instinct which was a Dark Zombie’s natural ability, activated the skill by themselves.
"Grrr!"
A growl left Nellas’s mouth as his skin began to rot and burnt wounds, or should we say scars began to appear on his face.
His nails were getting longer and turning pitch-black.
After a moment, the veins in his neck were popping and the blood in his body was boiling as his muscles grew bigger.
It was a scary and horrifying sight.
Yet, the vampires didn’t flinch, and right after the Zombie’s transformation had completed, they had also reached him and were now standing in front of him.
However, before they could do anything, the zombie’s claws moved as they sliced through the air.
Swish!
The sound of the claws tearing the wind echoed in the quiet forest, however, it could only stay a sound as it couldn’t even leave a mark on the vampires’ bodies.
Because they were even faster than Nellas.
But the zombie didn’t back off.
Instead, he swung his claws again.
"Grrr!!!"
An animalistic roar came out of his throat, and his hands moved faster than before.
The speed of his attack was getting higher and higher, and his claws were almost gonna hit one of the vampires’ bodies.
"Heh,"
A laugh left the mouth of one of the vampires, and as for the other five, they just grinned and kept looking at Nellas’s eyes, or should we say his red dots, which were filled with an intense amount of thirst.
"You want to die?"
Suddenly, the vampire’s hands moved and grabbed the zombie’s wrist before crushing it to the point where bones could be heard cracking.
"Hmph,"
The vampire snorted, and his free hand stretched and grabbed the Zombie’s neck.
"What a foolish creature. We came here to take you away but... You wanna die. Huh."
He spoke and a wicked smile bloomed on his black lips, but, the smile on the vampire’s face didn’t stay for too long as his lips parted and he dug his nails into the zombie’s throat, piercing his flesh and blood vessels.
"I will grant your wish."
He finished and pulled his hand, tearing the skin of the zombie’s neck apart.
"Grrrraaaggg!!!"
The blood began to spray out of the Zombie’s neck, and the vampire’s eyes were fixed on the red liquid, his pupils constricting.
The blood smelled so delicious that he wanted to bite the zombie’s head off, but, he had a mission that he couldn’t fail.
And, as the zombie was losing more and more blood, a screen appeared in front of him, showing the current status.
Ding!
[HP: 343/500(Decreasing Rapidly)
Status: Bleeding (Serious), Poison (Mild)
Note: Blood loss at a rapid pace.
Vampire’s Poison is interfering with the regeneration process.
If the wound is not treated, the host will lose consciousness within 15 seconds and will die 30 seconds after that.]
Ding!
[Mode ’Dark Zombie’s Instinct’ has been deactivated due to excessive blood loss.]
The two notifications were displayed, and as soon as they did, the zombie’s eyes changed back to normal alongside his skin which also reverted.
And, as soon as he transformed back, his hands reached for his bleeding neck, however, before he could stop the bleeding, his legs lost their strength and his body fell backward.
His body hit the ground and his consciousness began to fade.
He was about to lose it and faint.
Nevertheless, he was still alive, and his mind was struggling to stay awake.
’What... What... I can’t die... Not now... I haven’t... Haven’t killed them... Yet...’
Thoughts were running through his mind, but his body didn’t listen, and the darkness was slowly consuming his consciousness.
His life was flashing in front of him, and as he was losing his grip on his neck, his eyes moved and the figure of Ember flashed in front of him.
’No, no... Don’t let me die... Not now... Not now...’
A small drop of tear rolled down his eyes as they slowly began to close and his hands fell from his neck, leaving the wound open.
And, at that time, one of the vampires who was watching everything from the side came forward and picked him up.
"Heh, how boring,"
The vampire who had pierced the zombie’s neck said, and the others replied with a nod before the six of them raised their heads and their gazes fixed on the bright moon that was shining brightly.
A moment later, their bodies began to disappear, and in an instant, they vanished into thin air.
The place became silent once again and except for the light of the moon and the fire, there was another source of glow.
A blue light was coming from the screen which was still there.
