Chapter 56: Candidate Ryan

Inside the One Guild’s building, many people were sitting and waiting for their turn, and most of them were young boys and girls who had recently got their powers.

They were all sitting on chairs, which, in rows, were aligned on the ground, and their eyes were focused on the scene happening on the other side of the glass.

A man wearing a white shirt and a black trouser was standing on the ground made for fighting.

The man, named Ryan, was one of the people who had come to register themselves as Heroes.

And now, after 14 people had given the test, so, grabbing a small piece of paper in his hand with the number 15 and some details written on it, he had come here.

In front of him, there was a machine that, once the test began, would start moving and the person would have to either destroy it or somehow make it stop.

It was the first test that the guild had prepared, and this machine was not something simple, a normal person would find it hard to defeat it.

After all, the machine was able to move on its own and was very agile.

Moreover, its movement was unpredictable and was made to confuse its opponent, making it hard for them to defeat it.

The person had to react quickly, and if they didn’t, the machine would attack and they would fail the test.

"Alright, number 15, Ryan, ready?"

An announcer’s voice resounded inside the room, and the machine in front of Ryan lit up before its body started moving.

"Yeah,"

Ryan responded, and a small smirk surfaced on his face, as he looked at the machine.

"Let’s start," The announcer said and pressed a button after counting; "3, 2, 1, Go."

The word ’Go’ resounded inside the room, and the machine moved, as it shot its fist toward the boy.

"Hah, you are too slow."

Ryan jumped to the side and easily dodged the attack.

He wasn’t afraid of the machine, and it was because he had already figured out its weakness.

It had taken him a bit of time, but it was all worth it, and now, the man was ready to pass the test.

"I will end this fast."

Saying that, his right arm began to glow, and he closed his hand into a fist, before punching the air in front of him.

If the wave of energy that came out of his fist hadn’t been visible, no one would have known that Ryan had just used his power, and they would have considered him to be someone stupid.

However, it wasn’t the case, and a small sound was heard, before the machine began to shake, and sparks of electricity could be seen.

Boom!

A loud explosion sounded, and the machine stopped moving before smoke came out of it.

"Ohh,"

The audience was stunned and surprised by the result, including the people in the control room who were also a bit baffled, but they didn’t say anything and just announced the results.

"Pass. His score is 88 out of 100."

The announcer said and the audience cheered.

"Yeah!"

"That was so cool."

"He passed with the flying colors."

Ryan’s lips curved into a smile and after standing there for a few seconds he turned around and left the testing ground.

He walked to the waiting room where other candidates were waiting for their turn and sat down on a chair on which he was previously sitting.

"Dude, you got a good score. That was amazing."

One of the candidates complimented him and the man just replied with a simple thanks.

’Heh, I knew this would be easy. This guild’s test is too easy and anyone with half a brain can pass it.’

Ryan was arrogant, and he had a reason to be, as his power was quite strong.

After all, with the ability to create and control electricity who wouldn’t be arrogant, and it was also because of his power he was confident in passing the guild’s test and becoming a Hero.

He wasn’t afraid and didn’t even feel the need to prepare for it, as he thought he would be able to get through it without much difficulty.

It was all because his power was very strong. Even though he was awakened just a few days ago, he could already use it efficiently.

’Once I become a Hero, I will get a good amount of money. That means I will be able to afford a nice car and a good apartment. Maybe I can even get myself a girl and buy a lot of stuff for myself.’

He was dreaming of a better life and wasn’t satisfied with the life he was living now.

So, with a bright smile on his face, the man began to wait, and his eyes were focused on the next candidate who was stepping inside the testing area.

He was the 16th person, and after him, a few more people took the test, and their results were not that great, but still, some of them managed to pass.

However, none of their scores reached the number 88, which was the score Ryan had achieved.

Moreover, their powers were not something impressive, and were just a bit stronger than normal, or had some sort of elemental affinity.

’Well, it doesn’t matter to me.’

The man didn’t care about others and his mind was only focused on himself.

The thought of becoming a Hero was the only thing that was running inside his mind.

But, all his thoughts, all his hopes, and all his dreams were interrupted the moment the door behind him opened and instinctively his head turned back to look at the person who entered.

His eyes widened and his body shook a bit, as he saw the person who had entered the room, and the sight of her made him unable to look away.

’W-wow.’

He couldn’t believe what he was seeing and his breath stopped for a second.

Because the sight of the woman in front of him made his body unable to move and his mind frozen.

Her beauty was not something a human could have, and if someone were to describe her, the first thing that would come to their mind would be an angel.

But, Ryan didn’t think of her like that, instead, his mind thought of a different word.

’She is gorgeous. Really gorgeous.’

With her long crimson hair, fair white skin, and beautiful features, the woman was perfect.

And if there were someone who was to look at her, their hearts would melt, and their minds would be taken away by her charm.

It was not an exaggeration, and the man, without knowing, was not the only one, who was mesmerized by her.

Because, the other candidates, who also turned their heads out of curiosity, were also looking at her with eyes filled with amazement, and were unable to look away.

"Wow,"

A gasp left one of the candidate’s mouths, and his words made the rest snap out of their trance, as their heads, all at once, turned away.

However, even if they were not staring at her, their minds were not focused, and the girl’s figure was imprinted in their memories.

After all, she had an appearance, a beauty, that would haunt their dreams, and was a sight they would never forget.

Meanwhile, the girl, with the help of Marine, walked inside the room and her ears picked up the sound of gasps, which caused a frown to surface on her face.

’Was I stared at?’

She didn’t know, but it was not important and she didn’t care, as her mind was busy thinking about other things.

It was as if her brain was not listening and was not processing anything, except the thoughts of becoming a hero.

And, her husband.

So, all the things her ears were picking up, were ignored.

"This way,"

Marine spoke and helped Ember walk toward the only empty seat that was right next to Ryan.

"You can sit here."

Saying that Marine helped her sit, and then, she placed her hand on her shoulder and continued, "Wait here. I will go and talk to get your turn as soon as possible."

After saying that, the woman turned around and walked out of the room, and the door was closed with a ’Click’ sound.

As Ember was sitting, she could hear some of the candidates talking about her.

"Wow, what a beautiful woman. She is so gorgeous."

"I agree, her beauty is out of this world."

"Man, I wonder if she is married."

"Of course, she must have a husband."

"Ah, why does the good one always get snatched by someone?"

"Haha, you should be lucky that you got a glimpse of her."

The candidates were talking among themselves, and the girl could feel the heat in their gazes.

However, the thing that made her frown, and made her feel a bit uncomfortable, was the words she was hearing.

’Gorgeous, beautiful?’

She had heard the same words before, and the man who had called her was her husband.

But, this time, the situation was different, and instead of feeling happy, she felt sad, angry, and annoyed.

’These guys are the same. They are all perverts.’

She knew what they were thinking and what their intentions were.

And, this made her a bit angry, but her anger didn’t last long and soon disappeared, as she let out a sigh and calmed herself down.

She couldn’t let herself be affected by these people, now, she had become somewhat mature and was not a young girl, who was naive and innocent.

’Let’s just wait for Marine and ignore them.’

With that thought, Ember closed her eyes and leaned her head against the chair’s back.
