Chapter 40: The Thing in Nellas’ Chest is Someone’s Belonging
Chapter 40: The Thing in Nellas’ Chest is Someone’s Belonging
After the Silver Spiked Turtle had appeared, Nellas had run off in a specific direction.
And after a few minutes of dashing, he reached the destination he had in mind.
The place was quite different than the rest of the forest, as there was no snow or ice on the ground, and the air was a bit hot, despite being on the second floor.
"Hmm," Nellas was not interested in the strange environment and he quickly scanned the area.
His gaze landed on the center of the place, and a faint smile bloomed on his face as he saw his target.
Two trees were planted beside each other, and the trunks of these trees were fused together.
However, the thing that stood out the most was the blue glow between the two trees.
’There it is,’ Nell mused and with a few strides, he approached the place.
His right hand extended forward and his palm was facing the two trees.
Soon, as he moved his hand inside the blue light, he felt something hard touching his fingers.
It was an object.
’Finally,’ He thought and quickly grabbed the object.
As soon as the object touched his palm, the blue glow disappeared, and the two trees were once again separated.
A sword; a silver sword with a blue hilt was now in his hand.
[Name: Thunderbolt
Class: S+
Description: A weapon made from the Silver Spiked Turtle’s bones.
Ability: Lightning Strike(Active)
Effects: Can fire a lightning strike.
Can release a powerful lightning aura.
Usage: 2]
Nellas’ eyes were shining with delight as he held the sword.
The second floor of the dungeon ’Breeze Forest’ didn’t have any low-class monsters and only had a boss monster.
So, no matter how good the Heroes were, they would surely lose to the boss, and die.
Because the only way to kill the Silver Spiked Tortoise was to use this sword’s lightning to counterattack the turtle’s own thunder-like attacks.
Otherwise, they wouldn’t have any chance of winning.
The reason the boss monster was called Silver Spiked Tortoise and not a tortoise was because of its lightning ability.
However, Nellas didn’t care and simply wanted to get his hands on the weapon.
For that, he first had to distract the boss monster, and then, go and search for the weapon.
So, he used his teammates to do just that, and the results were satisfactory.
Now, he could kill the tortoise easily, and not only would he get the weapon, but he would also earn the favor of his teammates.
"Let’s kill the tortoise."
Saying that he began to walk back to the battleground.
He didn’t have to hurry, as he knew that the boss was not dead yet, and his team could easily keep it busy until he arrived.
....
Now, he was standing at the top of a mountain and his gaze was locked on the giant tortoise, which was flailing its limbs around, while electricity was dancing all over its shell.
Nell knew that the tortoise was preparing for its most powerful attack.
So, he tightened his grip on the sword and a blue aura began to surround him.
’Let’s see what this sword is actually capable of.’
A small smile was present on his lips, as he jumped off the cliff, heading towards the monster.
Crackle!!! Crackle!!!
As Nellas was descending from the sky, the sword in his hand began to crackle with electricity and the aura around him grew stronger.
In an instant, he landed on the tortoise’s head, and without hesitation, he stabbed the sword into the turtle’s skull.
Boom!!
....
The present...
"Hey, wake up! Wake up!"
A loud shout echoed in her ears, and Rachel opened her eyes.
She and her two companions had been blown away by the explosion caused by Nell’s attack.
And, as soon as they hit the ground, their eyes closed, and they passed out.
However, the one who had awakened her was Danny who somehow had gained consciousness before her.
"Oh, thank god, you are alright."
He was crouching next to her, and his hands were trembling as he looked at her.
"What... Happened?" She asked, her eyes were a bit unfocused, and the words that left her lips were barely a whisper.
"I don’t know, but, after that bastard came flying, this happened."
Hearing Danny’s words, Rachel’s eyes widened, and she slowly lifted her upper body off the ground.
"Wait, is Ron okay?" She asked.
Her brother’s name was the first thing that entered her mind as soon as she fully became conscious.
"Yeah, he is fine. See," Danny replied and pointed at the spot where Ron was lying.
A smile bloomed on Rachel’s face as she saw her brother’s figure, and the worries that were present on her face vanished.
Ron’s body was bruised, and his clothes were torn in places, revealing a part of his chest.
Nevertheless, he was alive and breathing, and that was all that mattered to Rachel.
"Thank God," She whispered and slowly lifted herself up.
She had no injuries, but, she still felt a bit weak, and her mind was a bit fuzzy, which was due to the explosion that had occurred moments ago.
"Wait, are you alright?" Danny asked as he also got up and placed his hands on her shoulders.
"Yeah, I am fine. Do you think this kind of explosion can hurt me?"
"Haha, that’s true," A chuckle escaped Danny’s lips as he released her.
"By the way, where is he?" Rachel asked and looked around, but she couldn’t find any signs of the man she wanted to see.
"Don’t know. Maybe he was also blown away by the explosion." Danny shook his head and also looked around, but, there was no sight of the man.
"Maybe," Rachel didn’t think much and simply sat on the snow-covered ground, "Let’s rest for a bit and then look for him."
"Sure," Danny nodded his head and also sat next to her, and a moment of silence enveloped the area until Nellas came into their view.
"Finally," Rachel’s lips curled into a smile, and the worries in her heart subsided a bit.
Nellas was walking towards them, and the sword in his hand was no longer glowing, instead, it had become quite normal, and didn’t seem to be a powerful weapon.
"Are you guys okay?" His gaze swept over his teammates, and he didn’t stop for a single second as he walked towards the group.
"You... You almost killed us."
Danny’s tone was filled with anger and disappointment.
He didn’t believe that his life would be saved by the guy he despised, and the thought was too hard to accept.
"Huh, I am sorry, but, it couldn’t be helped. You know, the monster was too strong and I had to do something,"
Nellas apologized, but, he didn’t look even a little guilty, and the smile on his lips was evident.
Danny didn’t buy his act, and his fists clenched tightly, but, he didn’t say anything and simply looked away.
On the other hand, Rachel didn’t have the same reaction as Danny.
She, with slow and precise feet, closed the distance between her and Nellas and then placed her hand on his chest.
"Thank you,"
A sweet smile was present on her lips, and a slight blush was visible on her face, "If not for you, we would have surely died," She continued, and her voice was filled with gratitude.
"Don’t mention it," A smile bloomed on Nell’s face and his feet moved as he took a step back, breaking the contact.
"No, I am really grateful to you," Rachel insisted, and she took another step forward, closing the distance between the two again.
But, before her hand could touch his chest, Nell grabbed her wrist and said, "I have accepted your thanks. So why don’t you leave it at that," His tone was stern, and there was a frown on his face.
"Ah... Uh..."
Rachel was a bit stunned by the man’s attitude, and her face instantly reddened as her lips trembled.
She didn’t know what to say, and she didn’t understand what the man wanted her to do.
Seeing her reaction, Danny, who was watching the two from the side, had his face darken, and his blood began to boil.
’How dare he...’
A growl escaped his lips and his eyes were locked on the man’s hand, which was holding his lover’s wrist.
"Look, I don’t know what you are trying to do. But, please don’t touch my chest," Nellas added, his tone was polite but his face was serious because he wasn’t willing to compromise.
"Since the thing in it is someone’s property,"
The frown on his face intensified and he took a glance at his chest, before releasing his hold on her arm.
"Someone’s... Property?"
A confused expression surfaced on Rachel’s face. At first, she didn’t understand what Nellas was talking about.
But, when she saw him looking at his chest, a realization struck her and her eyes went wide.
’I-Is he...?’
