Chapter 39: The Archer Awakens

"I... I... I am not useless!" Ron yelled.

His eyes were focused on the turtle who was giving a hard time to his sister and his friend.

’I can’t stay like this forever.’

Although his heart was beating wildly and his palms were sweaty, his eyes never moved from the tortoise.

He was a guy who always lived under his sister’s shadow, a guy who always needed his sister to come and save him.

However, he was tired of living like this, and today he had decided that he wouldn’t hide behind his sister’s back.

From the beginning, he always had a unique talent; his aim was excellent and his eyes were always good, and yet he never did anything about it.

All because he was scared that his sister would leave him if he showed her the strong side of him. She would leave him on his own and would never take care of him like she does now.

So all his life, he had pretended to be weak, and he always relied on his sister, which made him a loser.

’No, not anymore,’

Thinking that, he looked at his waist and saw a string tied around it.

’My arrows won’t even pierce its skin, but I can at least distract it, right?’

After making his decision, a smile bloomed on his face and he jumped on the top of a tree.

There, he grabbed a strong and flexible branch and broke it off the tree.

’This should work,’

He then sat on the edge of the tree, and with his hands, he began to pluck the leaves off the branch until only the stem was left.

Meanwhile, the turtle was not staying still, and its attacks were relentless.

Its speed was beyond Danny and Rachel, and the spikes on its shell and the strength of its attacks were more than enough to kill the duo if they weren’t careful.

"Shit, I have to be fast,"

Ron muttered and quickly pulled the string that was tied around his waist.

The moment the string was untied, the pouch, which was hanging from it, fell to the ground.

It was the pouch that he always carried with him. It was filled with items that were needed during emergencies, like medicine for his illness and some snacks.

However, now, all of these things were lying on the snow, forgotten by him, as his mind was focused on the task at hand.

The thing he needed now was a bow and some arrows.

With the string in his hand, he began to tie both ends of the branch, and soon, the bow was completed.

’Now, for the arrows,’

As he thought that, he began to break some straight and thin branches from the tree he was sitting on. Afterward, with a swift motion, he plucked all the leaves from them.

Soon, five arrows were completed.

’This will have to do.’

Without wasting any time, while his gaze was focused on the tortoise, he took one of the arrows and held it with the bow,

’There,’

A smile bloomed on his lips, and he let go of the arrow.

The arrow shot forward and it hit the creature’s eye, causing blood to erupt from its injured eye.

"Guhh,"

The turtle roared, and its red eye, which was now filled with blood, was glaring at the trees in front of it.

It didn’t know where the attack came from, and its gaze was roaming over the forest, as it was searching for the culprit.

But, that wasn’t the case for the Heroes he was fighting against.

They knew exactly where the arrow had come from.

"Ron!"

Rachel was shocked. Her gaze was locked on her brother who was sitting on the top of the tree and had an arrow pointed at the tortoise.

"Ron..." She couldn’t believe it.

Her brother was using a bow?

Never in her life had she seen him using a bow, or anything related to fighting.

"I am going to distract it. Use this chance to attack its head and legs,"

Ron said, and without waiting for his sister’s reply, another arrow left his bow and flew towards the turtle.

Once again, the arrow hit the monster, and blood spurted from the wound.

But because of its thick and tough skin, the arrow didn’t do much damage to the monster.

’It isn’t strong enough, so it can’t pierce its skin. But if it hits its weak spots, like the eye, the monster will be blinded.’

A plan was formed in his mind and the more he thought about it, the better the idea seemed.

He looked at the arrows in his hands, and his lips curled into a smile, ’Three arrows? Heh, It is enough.’

He took one of the arrows and nocked it on the bow as he waited for an opportunity to arise.

"Come on,"

Soon, an opening was created. The tortoise was flailing its limbs around, and the Heroes were dodging the attacks.

This gave Ron a chance to attack the monster’s eye.

Immediately, he let go of the arrow, and in the blink of an eye, it was shot forward, heading straight towards the creature’s red eye.

However, before it could hit the monster’s eye, the sound of crackling electricity filled the air, and the turtle’s shell began to glow.

"Huh? What the hell is that?"

Ron’s eyes went wide, and his jaw hung loose, as his gaze was fixed on the glowing shell.

Electricity was swirling around the tortoise, and the snow beneath the creature was melting.

It was as if the turtle was charging its power, and the more it charged, the brighter the light became.

’This is not good,’

"Get out of there, you two!" Ron screamed and without caring about the remaining arrows, he threw them on the ground, and jumped off the tree, "Run!!"

Seeing the scene, Danny didn’t hesitate and quickly grabbed Rachel’s hand.

But, when he tried to pull her she didn’t move and stayed still. Danny looked at her and saw that her gaze was focused on the sky.

"What are you doing? This is not the time for stargazing. Let’s go!"

His words were loud, and the fear within them was obvious.

Rachel didn’t react and simply pointed at the sky.

"Look," She muttered, her eyes were wide and a faint smile was present on her lips.

Danny frowned but still looked at the direction in which Rachel was pointing.

He moved his gaze to the sky, where he saw Nellas descending from the heavens.

In his hand was a sword that was crackling with electricity, and a faint blue aura was surrounding his body.

"What the-" Danny’s words were cut short as Nell landed on the top of the turtle’s head, and stabbed the sword in its skull.

Boom!!

As soon as the sword pierced the monster’s skull, a large explosion occurred, and a blinding light engulfed the area.

The light was bright enough to cover the entire floor, and the trees that were closest to the source of the light were uprooted, while the others were charred black.

Even the three Heroes weren’t spared. They were also blown away by the force of the explosion, and when the eruption subsided their bodies could be seen lying motionless on the snow.
