Chapter 134: Glimpses Beyond the Road

Han’s voice filled the carriage as he spoke, saying, "Do you like the clothes? I chose them just for you." The carriage, decorated in white and red, was really fancy, moving through a beautiful landscape. The horses pulling it were graceful, just like everything else.

Nellas sat across from Han, looking at the sleeves of the clothes he was wearing. Every stitch, fold, and color showed how much thought was put into them. He gently touched the nice fabrics, showing he liked them.

The special clothes they picked for him looked really classy. The white and red shirt and the rich cape were amazing. Each piece seemed to have a story. The making of the clothes was perfect, showing they were made with care.

"Wait, you picked these out?" Nellas’ surprise was palpable, his gaze lifting to meet Han’s. The revelation that these finely crafted garments had been chosen with him in mind left him momentarily speechless, his gratitude evident in the way his eyes lingered on Han’s face.

Han’s smile, a brief yet genuine expression, perfectly captured their connection. Sunlight streamed into the carriage, casting a warm glow over everything.

"Of course," he replied, "I couldn’t have you travel in those clothes. That’s why."

He closed his eyes briefly, tilting his head a bit, as if savoring the joy of his considerate gesture.

A peaceful calm filled the carriage, with the rhythmic sound of wheels on the road. Trees they passed, lush and green, swayed along with the journey. The tires created a soft hum, blending with the gentle chorus of nature around them.

Every detail in the carriage added to the feeling of comfort and luxury. The red interior, full of passion, contrasted nicely with the elegant white exterior. The cushions were soft and inviting, mirroring the relaxation of the journey itself.

Outside the carriage, the world rushed by in a blur of colors and textures. Leaves on the trees made patterns of light and shadow that danced on the windows, like a moving picture reflecting their thoughts. The sun’s warmth hugged the land, covering it in a golden glow that changed everything it touched.

As the carriage went on, the rhythmic thud of horses’ hooves added a beat to the journey. The sound echoed through the air, like a steady rhythm matching the passing time. Guards on horseback at each corner of the carriage added safety, reminding them of the world outside.

The guards wore shiny armor that gleamed in the sunlight, looking strong and impressive. Their eyes watched everything carefully, showing how dedicated they were to their duty. The horses they rode moved with them, like a coordinated dance that showed unity and purpose.

The guards, with armor shining like stars in the sky, seemed to bring balance to the beautiful landscape. The natural colors of the countryside mixed with the shiny armor, showing how nature and civilization can exist together.

Nellas turned his attention back to Han, thinking about the upcoming journey. "How much longer till we get there?" he asked, curiosity in his voice.

Han considered the question, his eyes meeting Nellas’. "Well," he began thoughtfully, "we need to make a quick stop first. I have some things to take care of," he said purposefully. "After that, we’ll head to where that ’thing’ is."

Nellas’ mind buzzed with curiosity as the enigmatic ’thing’ came up. He wondered what kind of object it could be, sparking his imagination. ’What does he want me to examine?’ the question bounced around his thoughts, a puzzle waiting to be solved.

As their conversation continued, Nellas’ thoughts shifted to a different question. "But, why me?" he queried, genuine curiosity tingeing his words. "There are others far more experienced than me."

Han answered quickly, his smile showing gratitude. "Yes, there are more experienced folks," he agreed, holding Nellas’ gaze. "But when I saw the weapons you made, it amazed me. How could you, with only two months of experience, create such great stuff?"

The words hung in the air, Han’s admiration clear. "You’re a genius," he said with a quick smile, his tone full of that feeling. "And right now, I need a genius like you."

Nellas looked at him, a mix of surprise and uncertainty in his eyes, his instincts wary.

’This guy...? It seems like he has done a considerable amount of research about me.’ Nellas’ thoughts whirled, his street-smarts coming into play. His watchful eyes, sharp like a knife, broke down every word and every part of Han’s manner.

His lips curved into a knowing smile, silently acknowledging that secrets often hid beneath the surface. Han’s motives were hidden, wrapped in charm and mystery. But Nellas was good at sensing the unspoken, at understanding the hidden truths that stayed in the shadows.

’Well, it doesn’t matter. As long as he can give me what he said he would, all’s good. If not...’ Nellas’ smile turned crafty, a playful spark in his blue eyes.

The carriage rolled on, and Nellas’ focus shifted to the passing landscape, his expression thoughtful. Outside, the scenery seemed to change like a moving picture—hills and fields giving way to thick forests and babbling streams.

"Where are we headed first?" he asked, his blue eyes mirroring the shifting colors around them.

"To the Alkan family," Han replied, his voice matching the carriage’s rhythm. He leaned back on the soft cushions, looking relaxed despite their journey’s deeper purpose.

"Alkan family?" Nellas repeated, his forehead creasing as he tried to process the name. He quickly thought about it, trying to connect the dots and figure out what it meant.

"Yeah," Han said, nodding with a small smile. He looked out of the carriage’s window, watching the scenery pass by. The sunlight came through the trees, making patches of light and shadow on his face that made him look almost magical.

After a few minutes, the carriage stopped gently. The creaking sounds it had been making stopped, and there was a quiet rustling of leaves and the far-off calls of birds.

"It looks like we’ve arrived," Han’s voice sounded satisfied, carrying the feeling that their journey had come to an end. He opened the carriage door, a clear signal that they were leaving the comfortable space and stepping out into the open air.

As the door swung open, one of the guards nearby gave a respectful bow. His movements were careful and polite, one hand on the carriage while the other dipped lower than his chest—a sign he knew how to behave and took his job seriously.

Han and Nellas got out of the carriage and found themselves surrounded by a peaceful scene.

They walked along a path lined with tall trees, their leafy green tops forming a natural tunnel that seemed to share secrets with those who walked beneath it. The sun’s light filtered through the leaves, making a soft pattern of light and dark on the path ahead.

Han’s sudden halt caught Nellas’ attention. Han turned and put his hand on Nellas’ shoulder—a gesture that felt both familiar and meaningful. "You know, I have something to talk to the Count about," Han said, his words considerate. "Why don’t you head to the blacksmith workshop behind the house?"

Han kept talking, looking right at Nellas. "The blacksmith here is really good at making weapons. You might pick up a thing or two."

Nellas’ thoughts flickered with a mix of amusement and realization. ’Is he...?!’ he pondered, a wry smile tugging at the corner of his lips.

"Sure thing," Nellas responded, his voice carrying a touch of playfulness.

"Perfect," Han agreed with a nod, continuing on his path and turning to one of his guards. The guard understood the unspoken cue, bowing and remaining behind to keep an eye on Nellas.

Watching Han move away, Nellas stood still for a moment, observing his figure as it got smaller. ’Well then, time to go see this famous blacksmith,’ he thought, curiosity sparked.

But as Nellas began walking, his keen senses picked up a subtle change in the air. It was as if someone was watching him—a feeling that sent a shiver down his back. He turned, scanning the area to find the source of this watchful gaze.

Not far away, in the shadow of a tall tree, a young woman stood. Her expression showed a mix of confusion and hesitance, her gaze fixed on Nellas. A maid stood with her, looking just as surprised by the unfolding situation.

"Miss Anna, he’s looking toward us," the maid said in a hushed tone, her words carrying surprise and concern.

Despite what the maid said, Anna stayed quiet, her eyes locked onto Nellas. Her cheeks had a hint of red, a delicate and captivating color that hinted at an emotion hidden inside. She closed her eyes, as if the intensity of the moment had overwhelmed her senses.

’He’s not looking at me... Wait, he is looking at me... No, he’s not looking... Please...’ Her inner struggle played out in her mind, her heart racing with each passing moment. Her hands unconsciously moved to her chest, as if trying to calm her racing heartbeat.

The maid looked back and forth between her young miss and Nellas, looking puzzled. "Miss Anna?" she said again, trying to break the enchantment that seemed to have taken hold of Anna.

"Miss Anna?" The second time her name was spoken, there was a sudden movement. Anna turned her head to the side, hiding behind the tree’s trunk. Her face was a bright red, and her expression showed both vulnerability and hope.
