Chapter 130: Threads of Fate
"Stay here," Nellas told Minhe, his voice steady yet kind, locking eyes with her to show how serious he was. "I want to try something."
Minhe looked confused but nodded, trusting Nellas’ judgment.
Nellas stepped closer, moving with care, fixated on the frail old man. The air was thick with tension, and the scent of earth and fading flowers wafted around them.
As he approached, he noticed the old man’s once shiny silver beard now appeared dull and lifeless, blending with the surrounding shadows. The dim light of the setting sun cast an eerie glow on the scene.
The young girl glanced up, tears streaming down her cheeks, as Nellas sat beside her, gently placing his hand on the old man’s chest.
As Nellas touched the old man, a strong wave of darkness engulfed him. It felt like a frightening force consuming the old man from within. He could sense the sinister aura, and it sent shivers down his spine.
The girl stammered, fear and confusion evident in her trembling voice, "What are you..."
Ignoring her, Nellas remained focused on what he sensed. His mind was clear and determined, as if he had a specific plan to handle this unnatural darkness.
Under the warm amber glow of the setting sun, his blue eyes seemed to gleam, filled with concentration. He drew upon the knowledge of his past life, using that same focus and precision to channel his inner energy.
The crowd held their breath, watching closely as Nellas appeared to enter a trance-like state. Tension filled the air, and a faint hum resonated around them.
Nellas’ hand emitted a soft, pulsating light as he channeled his energy into the old man, and he felt the darkness starting to fade. The light danced on his fingertips, creating an ethereal sight.
The girl gasped in astonishment, her tears drying as she witnessed the mysterious powers in action.
The shadows that had consumed the old man began to retreat, slowly but surely. Nellas’ presence seemed to repel the malevolent force, replacing it with a soothing warmth. The air felt charged with positive energy.
The crowd watched in awe and wonder as the old man’s breathing steadied, and the lines of pain on his face softened. A collective gasp filled the air as they witnessed the transformation.
Nellas continued to focus his energy, and his hand glowed brighter with each passing moment. The pulsating light cast a mesmerizing spectacle, leaving the spectators spellbound.
The crowd was completely captivated by the unfolding scene, holding their breath in anticipation.
The girl watched with hope and anticipation, her hands tightly clasped together. Her eyes sparkled with a mix of fear and hope.
As the shadows receded, a sense of relief washed over her, and she whispered a silent prayer of gratitude.
With Nellas’ healing touch persisting, the old man’s eyes fluttered open. Though he still breathed heavily, the pain on his face had subsided, replaced by confusion and disbelief. The sight of his wrinkled yet revived face brought a sense of awe to everyone present.
His once lifeless eyes now held a glimmer of vitality as he looked up at Nellas with wonder and surprise.
The girl’s tears of fear had turned into tears of relief, and she rushed to her grandfather’s side, overwhelmed with emotion. "Grandpa, you’re awake!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with joy.
Nellas withdrew his hand, and the pulsating light slowly faded. The warm, amber glow of the setting sun wrapped the old man and the girl in serenity amid the commotion.
Taking deep breaths, the old man felt newfound strength in his body. "I... I feel better," he said weakly but filled with wonder. "What happened?"
He got up from the ground, and the girl assisted him to his feet. Nellas stepped back, observing the old man’s recovery.
"The curse...?" the old man stammered, his eyes searching for confirmation. His trembling hand reached out, touching his face and then his chest. "My beard..."
He continued to explore, running his fingers along his torso, feeling the rejuvenated strength in his body. Tears welled up in his eyes as he took in the transformation.
’The curse has been broken!’ he thought, dreading this day but now feeling immense joy.
"I’m cured! I’m cured!" the old man exclaimed, tears of joy streaming down his cheeks as he hugged the girl tightly, overwhelmed with emotion.
The girl held him close, feeling the warmth and love radiating from her grandfather.
The crowd, however, was shocked and confused by the sudden change in the old man’s demeanor. They couldn’t believe what they were witnessing.
’It can’t be... He was so close to death...?’ one man thought to himself.
’Who is this archer? What did he do?’ another man wondered.
’Did he use a healing spell?’ another anonymous thought joined the group.
The crowd was confused, struggling to comprehend what they had just seen.
Nellas smiled, satisfied with his success, but his smile vanished when he saw the girl turning towards him.
With admiration shining in her eyes, she said, her voice trembling with gratitude, "This kind stranger saved you. He healed you with his incredible powers."
The old man looked at Nellas curiously, trying to understand the miraculous events.
He had never witnessed such healing before, and it was evident on his face that he found it hard to believe.
"Thank you, young man," he said weakly and hesitantly.
Nellas’ focus remained solely on the girl, surprise evident on his face. It was as if he didn’t hear the old man’s words.
’Huh?!’ he thought, his heart thumping in his chest.
He looked at her with bewilderment, his eyes widening as a thought crossed his mind.
’...Anna?’ His mind screamed, his heart beating a mile a minute, as if it might explode in his chest. ’...No way.’
He couldn’t believe his eyes, but it was her. It had to be. Her appearance hadn’t changed all that much in his opinion, but her demeanor had, and her aura.
’Don’t tell me, you also got reincarnated?’ he thought, staring at the girl with wide-open eyes.
