Chapter 125: Shadow of Skills

Around half an hour later, Princess Diana found respite in the shade of a tent, perched upon a chair with her legs elegantly crossed. Her gaze fixated upon the tantalizing array of food meticulously arranged on the table before her.

"Oh, what a splendid feast!" Her eyes widened with astonishment as they traversed the table’s offerings. "Though the ingredients seem ordinary, they have been imbued with extraordinary care."

A subtle gleam of amusement danced within her eyes, lending a playful aura to her countenance. "Pray, tell, who is responsible for this culinary delight? It appears that neither of you had a hand in its creation," she inquired, her lips forming a curious pout.

Standing on either side of the table were two maids, poised and dignified in their demeanor.

"Indeed, Princess. Yujin is the mastermind behind all these culinary wonders," one of the maids chimed in, her voice serene and soothing.

"What? He crafted all of this single-handedly? In such a brief span of time?" Princess Diana questioned, her eyebrow arched in disbelief.

The maids nodded in response, their countenances brimming with tender affection.

"Indeed, Princess," they uttered, their words infused with a gentle warmth. "Yujin even prepared dishes for everyone else."

"What?!" Princess Diana exclaimed, her eyes widening in astonishment. "Doesn’t that necessitate a plethora of ingredients and an extensive duration of preparation?!"

"Yes, but it appears that Yujin possesses boundless capabilities," the other maid replied, gesturing with her hands, attempting to mimic Yujin’s culinary prowess. "With a touch of his magical power, he conjured forth delectable delights... Like... This... This... And behold! The ingredients materialized into food effortlessly."

Princess Diana stood there dumbfounded, her mind struggling to comprehend the maids’ assertions.

The maid halted her mimicry and gazed at Princess Diana, an expanse of mirth adorning her face. "Apologies, dear Princess. I was merely imitating Yujin’s actions, yet it seems my imitation eluded your understanding."

"You were... mimicking Yujin?" Princess Diana inquired, her voice tinged with a hint of bewilderment.

The maid nodded, a glimmer of fondness illuminating her eyes. "Indeed. I cannot fathom the depths of his mastery, but he possesses a remarkable ability to make everything appear effortlessly simple!"

"I see."

Princess Diana’s gaze drifted towards the meticulously arranged plates of food adorning the table.

Her eyes traced the succulent cuts of meat, the expertly seasoned vegetables, and the array of exotic ingredients.

’So, he possesses extraordinary culinary skills as well,’ her inner thoughts whispered, suffused with a tinge of admiration. ’The more I discover about him, the more interesting he becomes.’

However, a flicker of uncertainty coursed through her mind. ’But... I still have to confirm whether he has been sent by my brother to stop me from meeting him or not.’

Princess Diana’s fingers absently traced the edges of the ornate table, her mind swirling with complex thoughts. The intricate dance of doubt and curiosity swirled within her, for she could not deny the growing feeling that Yujin might be far more than just a simple guard or servant. His actions, his abilities, and even his demeanor had been enigmatic, each layer of his character unfolding in tantalizing bits. Still, she knew she must be cautious, especially with her brother’s long reach and his tendency to place obstacles in her path.

Descending from the heavens, the Blood Sword plunged into the earth before Nellas, its piercing tip embedding itself firmly into the ground. The blade, akin to crimson-streaked glass, possessed a slender form, extending no longer than a man’s outstretched arm. Its hilt, colored a deep red and concealed beneath a shroud of obsidian fabric, bore an emblem that caught the light with an eerie glow.

A resplendent rose, encased within the darkness, unfurled its petals, resembling wings with six elegant leaves spreading outward.

In that fleeting moment, Nellas’ visage, once contorted in wrath, transformed into an icy mask of unfeeling calmness. He advanced, his hand instinctively curling around the hilt, his sinewy muscles coiled with anticipation as he withdrew the sword from the earth’s embrace.

The flickering display vanished without a trace, disregarded by Nellas as his attention fixated on the figure standing before him.

"Perish, you pitiful insect," Nellas sneered, his eyes emanating an icy glow. A blood-red aura enveloped his entire being, exuding a menacing presence.

In that crucial moment, a sense of familiar danger pricked at the malevolent figure’s senses, and an oppressive weight pressed down upon his very soul.

"Urrg... What is...?" the malevolent entity muttered, an involuntary shiver cascading down his spine. "This pressure, this aura... It feels... Familiar... Who is..."

Before he could complete his ponderings, an overwhelming surge of mana erupted from Nellas’ being, engulfing the surrounding air with its sheer force as he began to approach the dark entity with slow, deliberate steps.

The earth quivered and convulsed, cracks spiderwebbing from the point where Nellas placed his foot. The atmosphere ignited as the collision of mana and spirit unleashed a cataclysmic intensity.

With each step Nellas took forward, the pressure escalated, forcing a pained grunt to escape the malevolent figure’s lips.

"Arghh! Damn you! Arrghhh!" The figure bellowed, his voice devoid of all composure, reverberating with agony.

It was at that precise moment that the dark figure’s eyes widened in sheer horror, as if a bolt of lightning had jolted his memories to life.

’I remember it... This sensation... Those silver tresses and that bloodstained sword...’ The dark figure’s thoughts raced, his gaze fixated upon the man standing just inches away.

"No... It cannot be..." he muttered, his countenance contorted in a grimace. ’This cannot be... He is... Him! The guy from two years ago...?!’

....

Two years ago...

On a fateful night, within a glade bathed in the soft glow of moonlight, a solitary maiden perched delicately upon the rim of a crystalline fountain. Her slender form seemed to blend seamlessly with the ethereal surroundings as she gazed skyward, her eyes fixed upon the vast expanse of the celestial tapestry of stars.

She possessed the appearance of a young girl, her age approximately fourteen years. Yet in her visage, there was a timeless quality, an otherworldly beauty that seemed to defy age and mortality.

Her captivating features were delicately chiseled, adorned with a porcelain-like complexion devoid of imperfection. Elongated ears, reminiscent of her elven lineage, graced her otherwise human-like countenance, lending an air of mystique and enchantment.

Her figure was lithe and graceful, sculpted with elegant curves that accentuated her youthful allure. Silken strands of silver hair cascaded down her back, interlaced with streaks of crimson, flowing like a cascade of liquid moonlight over her slender shoulders.

But it was her eyes that held the true source of fascination. Dark as the deepest abyss, they swirled with a mesmerizing brilliance, gleaming with a wisdom far beyond her tender years. As she gazed up at the twinkling stars, there was an indescribable depth within her gaze, a glimpse into a soul that had traversed realms and experienced lifetimes.

"Princess," a voice emerged from the shadows, accompanied by the soft padding of footsteps. "You have been granted permission to go to the Alvon kingdom."

Though the girl remained seated, her serene countenance exuded a tranquility that seemed to encompass the very essence of the glade. A subtle smile graced her lips as she continued to contemplate the twinkling stars above, each one a beacon of hope and possibility.

"It appears that the time has come," her thoughts whispered with an ethereal radiance. "After enduring countless years of anticipation, the moment has finally arrived."

"I shall soon reunite with you in this lifetime," she mused, her voice carrying a resplendent aura of anticipation. "We shall be together once more..."

"...Master," As she spoke, a single tear glistened, descending from her long lashes and tracing a path along her delicate cheek. It served as a testament to the depth of her emotions, the weight of her longing and the fervor of her desires.
