Chapter 121: A Sense of Familiarity

As the soldiers caught sight of the departing Commander, a collective sigh of relief escaped their lips. Nell, observing the scene intently, fixed his gaze upon Baroy and determined to proceed with his plan.

Approaching Baroy, who coincidentally was walking towards him, Nell spoke up. "Commander Baroy, may I have a moment of your time?"

"Of course," Baroy responded with a smile. "What seems to be the matter?"

Nell grinned inwardly, contemplating his next move. "Well, you see, this is my inaugural visit to the capital, and I’ve always harbored a desire to explore its surroundings. I had thought of embarking on a tour, but being unfamiliar with anyone in this city, I considered seeking your guidance, Commander. Perhaps you could—"

"Oh," Baroy interjected, cutting off Nell’s words. "I shall arrange for someone to accompany you," he offered without hesitation.

Nell was taken aback by Baroy’s swift agreement. Nonetheless, he suppressed his surprise and patiently awaited the Commander’s further instructions.

"Here, meet my most trusted soldier. He will serve as your guide," Baroy concluded, gesturing towards a youthful soldier standing nearby.

"Um... Very well... Thank you," Nell uttered, caught off guard by the sudden turn of events.

"With that settled, if you’ll excuse me," Baroy stated curtly, departing without further delay.

Nell watched the Commander’s hasty departure, his eyes tracing the retreating figure until it vanished around a corner.

"What an odd man," Nell murmured to himself, pondering the peculiarity of Baroy’s behavior.

A short while later, Princess Diana’s carriage traversed the formidable walls of the Capital city, venturing into a dense forest that lay beyond.

Towering trees loomed overhead, their branches intertwining like a tapestry, shrouding the path beneath in an ethereal gloom.

Princess Diana’s gaze ascended, drawn to the sky where a veil of clouds veiled the sun, filtering its radiant beams. Her expression turned pensive and introspective, lost in the labyrinth of her thoughts.

’I wonder, in this very moment, what occupies his mind?’ she mused softly, her heart yearning for the man who had captured her affection.

A tender smile graced her lips, tinged with a trace of anticipation.

’Will he, I wonder, find it within his heart to accept me? Will the flames of love ignite in his soul as they do in mine?’ Her gaze lingered upon the distant horizon, where possibilities danced with the gentle sway of the wind.

’If only I could have but one wish, it would be for his love,’ she whispered, her voice a delicate murmur, resonating within the chambers of her heart. ’Just one wish, though it may remain but an unfulfilled dream. For love, they say, is as fragile as a fleeting butterfly,’ she added, her eyes betraying a flicker of uncertainty.

After all, she was a princess destined to navigate the treacherous waters of politics and duty, forsaking the pursuit of her heart’s desires.

The weight of this realization pressed upon her, birthing an ache deep within her core, a sorrow that clung to her spirit.

’Perhaps, then, I must surrender to the whims of fate,’ she reasoned, her smile now tinged with bitterness. ’Regardless of the outcome, I find solace in simply witnessing his presence and hearing the melody of his voice.’

A gentle flush adorned her cheeks as her mind conjured vivid visions of a shared future, her heart fluttering within her chest like a fragile bird taking flight.

Lost in her reverie, a soft breeze whispered through the forest, carrying with it a hint of elusive fragrances.

A sudden sensation enveloped her being, as if the very essence of her surroundings had transformed.

She breathed in the intoxicating aroma, relishing its ethereal sweetness, and the world around her bloomed with vibrant hues.

Enraptured, Princess Diana beheld the resplendent verdant landscape, her senses consumed by the captivating and otherworldly aura that enveloped her.

A sudden gust of wind swept through the forest, causing a nearby tree to sway in a graceful dance. Its branches reached skyward, their movements accompanied by a gentle rustling of leaves.

As the breeze subsided, the branches swayed with a subdued elegance, as if yearning to recapture the ethereal rhythm.

"Truly an enchanting sight," Princess Diana murmured, her lips adorned with a delicate smile.

In an instant, a tempestuous whirlwind erupted from the earth below, buffeting Princess Diana with its violent gust. Her hair billowed and her dress fluttered in its tumultuous embrace, her eyes wide with a mixture of awe and surprise.

As the wind gradually subsided, Princess Diana’s gaze shifted towards Yujin, who had faithfully followed her on horseback.

’It appears that I must uncover this man’s true intentions before we can proceed any further,’ she pondered, her eyes fixed upon his captivating countenance.

Meanwhile, Yujin observed Princess Diana from the corner of his eye, his attention captured by her beauty and the pensive expression gracing her face.

Lost in contemplation, he pondered the elusive familiarity she emanated, a sense of recognition tugging at the corners of his mind.

’She seems strangely familiar,’ he mused, his gaze unwavering as he studied her intently.

In that moment, Princess Diana’s gaze met his, a perplexed expression etching her delicate features.

"Is something amiss, Your Highness?" he inquired, genuine concern lacing his words.

Princess Diana hesitated for a moment, her response murmured with uncertainty. "It is nothing. Merely a fleeting sensation I thought I experienced just now."

"You mean the peculiar gust of wind?" Yujin probed, curiosity evident in his voice. "I assumed it was a mere breeze."

"No, not that. It was as if... a fleeting connection, a whisper of familiarity," she answered, her gaze sweeping across their surroundings. "Yet, I suppose I must have been mistaken."

"Well, it is possible that your imagination conjured such sensations," Yujin offered, his voice laced with reassurance.

"I suppose so," Princess Diana whispered, her gaze now lowered to the ground beneath her feet.

Continuing their journey, Yujin’s mind became consumed by contemplation, fixated on the enigmatic Crown Prince and the purpose behind his mission. A shroud of mystery enveloped his thoughts, leaving him with unanswered questions.

’Why did he send me here? What am I meant to discover?’ Yujin questioned himself, his mind awash with conjecture. ’He spoke of observation, but what exactly am I to observe? And why must I ensure no man comes close to her?’

Yujin’s gaze drifted towards Princess Diana, her demeanor serene and untroubled.

Suddenly, a realization struck him like a bolt of lightning, illuminating the fragments of information he had received. ’Wait a minute,’ he murmured, a knowing smile forming on his lips. ’Don’t let any [MAN] be near her? Ah, I see now.’

With newfound clarity, Yujin comprehended the underlying intention of the Crown Prince’s instructions.
