Chapter 111: A Place to Stay...

"Ah, okay," The young man sighed with disappointment as he failed to start a conversation with Minhe. After that, he shifted his attention to Nellas and Yujin.

"We’re traveling to the capital," Yujin spoke first.

"I see," The young man replied, his eyes lighting up with an idea. "Then you need to stay a night in this city to continue your journey."

"Yes, that’s right," Yujin agreed.

"But in Westfall, there aren’t any inns," The young man said, shaking his head. "There isn’t anywhere else to stay."

The trio looked troubled at the news, but the young man quickly came up with a solution.

"Actually, if you want, you can stay a night at my house," The young man offered, trying to impress Minhe with his wealth and status. "My name is Arin and I come from a wealthy family."

"Arin..." Yujin repeated, intrigued.

"That’s me," Arin confirmed with a wide grin.

"It’s a pleasure to meet you, Arin," Yujin said, extending his hand to shake his.

Arin shook his hand firmly, his eyes flickering to Minhe, who looked uneasy.

"Oh, I almost forgot!" Arin exclaimed, suddenly serious. "Do you have any luggage with you?"

"No, we don’t have any," Yujin replied.

Arin’s brows furrowed in thought for a moment before he spoke up again.

"Okay, come with me," he said, leading the way toward his carriage. Nell, Yujin, and Minhe trailed behind him, unsure of what to expect.

"Nell, why are we going with him?" Minhe whispered to him.

"He invited us to stay at his house, remember?" Nellas reminded her.

"I know," Minhe grumbled. "But I don’t like the way he looks at me."

"Don’t worry," Nell assured her. "If he tries anything strange, just tell him to stop."

Minhe frowned but didn’t argue further as they approached the carriage. A guard opened the door for them, and Arin climbed in, gesturing for them to follow. Nell, Yujin, and Minhe stepped into the carriage, Minhe eyeing Arin warily as she settled in for the ride.

As they settled into their seats, the atmosphere in the carriage was tense. Arin had initiated introductions, and Nellas had graciously obliged, introducing himself and his brother Yujin. But when Arin turned to the young woman sitting beside Nell and asked if she was their sister, things quickly took a turn.

Minhe’s face twisted in anger at the assumption. "I’m not their sister!" she snapped, her words laced with frustration and annoyance.

Arin’s quick apology did little to ease the tension, and Nellas jumped in to try and salvage the situation. "Let’s just keep our introductions simple," he suggested, his voice calm and measured.

Arin nodded, looking contrite. "Please forgive me," he said, bowing his head respectfully. "If you don’t mind, can you introduce yourselves, please?"

Nell obliged, introducing Minhe as their childhood friend. Arin extended a hand to shake hers, but she hesitated, clearly uncomfortable.

"It’s really great to meet you, Miss Minhe," Arin said, his tone warm and friendly.

Minhe didn’t respond, instead turning to stare out the window, her expression closed off and unapproachable. Nell frowned, sensing her discomfort, but Arin seemed oblivious to it.

"This guy is weird," Minhe muttered to Nellas, her voice barely above a whisper.

Nell shook his head, smiling at Arin. "He’s a very nice person," he said, trying to reassure Minhe.

But she wasn’t having it. "You won’t understand how I feel and you’ll never get it right," she snapped, her frustration boiling over.

Nellas sighed, knowing there was no reasoning with her when she got like this. He settled back into his seat, resigned to a long and awkward journey.

....

As the sun set, the group arrived at Arin’s mansion. The young man stepped down from the carriage first, followed by Nellas, Yujin, and Minhe. The guards quickly closed the door behind them, leaving the group alone in the spacious courtyard. The sound of crickets chirping filled the air, and lanterns swayed gently in the breeze, casting a warm glow across the garden.

As they entered the mansion, the butler greeted them with a deep bow. "Welcome home, Young Master," he said.

"Thank you," Arin replied respectfully. "Please prepare dinner for us."

The butler bowed again and left, and the group found themselves standing in front of the entrance.

"Come on," Arin said, leading them to the dining room.

The dining room was spacious and elegant, with beautiful paintings hanging on the walls. The table was made of polished wood and was covered with a pristine white cloth. On top of the table was a tray of delicious-looking food, and a jug of wine stood nearby.

"Wait here a moment," Arin said before heading to the kitchen.

Yujin and Minhe looked around in awe. "So this is his house," Yujin whispered.

"It’s magnificent," Minhe agreed.

They waited patiently until Arin returned, followed by a group of servants carrying platters of food and drinks.

"Sorry to keep you waiting," he said, bowing. "Let’s eat."

They all sat down at the table, and began eating. After finishing the meal, Arin was summoned by his Mother.

"Madam is calling for you, Young master Arin." The butler announced, and Arin excused himself from the table.

When he entered his father’s study, Arin saw his mother sitting on a chair next to the desk.

"Arin, I heard that you’ve been traveling with friends," his mother said in a gentle tone. "I hope you’re having fun, but I’m worried because you haven’t spoken much with your father lately."

"Mother, I didn’t say anything to father because I already talked to him last week," Arin replied. "He’s busy right now, so I think it would be better if we just leave him alone for the time being."

His mother sighed deeply, but she remained silent.

"I’m sorry, Mother," Arin apologized. "I can talk to Father later tonight."

"It’s alright, son," his mother replied. "Just promise me that you will talk to him, okay?"

"Sure," Arin agreed with a nod.

....

As his mother bid him goodbye and left, Arin led Nell, Yujin, and Minhe toward the guest rooms. Midway, he heard a familiar voice calling out to him.

"Brother!" A high-pitched voice rang out.

Arin stopped in his tracks and turned around, his eyes falling upon his little sister, Aishia. The ten-year-old stood before him, her brown hair cascading down her shoulders, and her fair skin glowing in the soft light. In her tiny hands, she held a bouquet of flowers, which she presented to him with a wide grin.

"For you, Brother!" she exclaimed, her eyes shining with joy.

Arin was taken aback by the unexpected gesture and accepted the bouquet with gratitude. "Thank you, Aishia," he said, embracing her tightly. His heart warmed at the sight of his little sister, who had grown so much since he last saw her.

"I missed you so much, Brother!" Aishia exclaimed, giggling with excitement. "I’m so happy to see you!"

"I missed you too, Aishia," Arin replied with a smile, his heart overflowing with joy at her enthusiasm. "Have you been well?"

"Yes, I’ve been doing fine," Aishia replied, her eyes twinkling with delight. "Mother told me that you were with friends. Is that true?"

"It is," Arin confirmed, nodding his head. "I met a lot of new people on my journey."

"Can I meet them?" Aishia asked eagerly, her eyes shining with curiosity.

"Of course, you can," Arin replied, gesturing towards his companions. "They’re over there."

Aishia’s eyes widened as she took in the sight of Nellas, Yujin, and Minhe. "Wow, Brother, they’re all so beautiful!" she exclaimed, her eyes lingering on Nell’s silver hair. "Even more than you!"

Arin chuckled, amused by his sister’s reaction. "What do you mean, more beautiful than me?" he teased, poking her cheek playfully.

Aishia giggled, ignoring his question as she continued to admire his companions. "That silver-haired guy is just too handsome to be called a human," she whispered to Arin dreamily.

Arin laughed, pleased that his sister liked his friends. "He is indeed very handsome," he agreed, watching as Aishia’s eyes continued to sparkle with wonder.

"And that girl is so pretty," Aishia observed, her gaze shifting to Yujin and Minhe. "I wish I could be as pretty as her."

Arin smiled warmly at his sister’s innocent comment. "She is indeed very pretty," he acknowledged. "But she doesn’t seem to like me."

Aishia’s eyes widened in surprise. "Why not?" she asked, her face contorted with confusion.

"Because she thinks I’m a bad person," Arin explained, his shoulders slumping slightly. "I have tried many times to convince her otherwise, but she still believes that I’m a bad person."

Aishia gasped, her eyes widening with shock. "How could anyone think that? You’re such a good person!" she exclaimed indignantly. "All the girls love you!"

Arin chuckled at his sister’s words. "Yeah, okay, come with me. I will introduce you to them," he said, leading her toward his companions.

As they approached, Nell’s striking features caught Aishia’s attention. "Wow, he really is handsome," she whispered to Arin, her eyes fixed on Yeoman’s face.

Taking Aishia’s hand, Arin led her over to where his friends were standing. As they approached, he introduced his little sister to the group with a wide grin.

"Hello! My name is Aishia," she said, her voice ringing out sweetly.

"Hi, Aishia," Yujin replied, bowing his head politely.

"Nice to meet you, Aishia," Minhe added, her warm smile making the young girl feel instantly at ease.

Aishia beamed, thrilled that everyone was so welcoming. "Wow, you are so beautiful," she said, turning to Minhe with awe in her eyes.

Minhe’s cheeks flushed pink in embarrassment. "Thank you, Aishia," she replied respectfully.

"I’m Yujin," Yujin introduced himself, and Aishia nodded her head in greeting before curtsying formally.

"Pleased to make your acquaintance, Mister Yujin," she said with a bright smile.

Yujin couldn’t help but smile back at the adorable display. "Likewise, Aishia."

"And I’m Minhe," Minhe said with a gentle laugh.

Aishia bowed again. "Nice to meet you, sister Minhe."

"Same here, Aishia," Minhe said warmly, feeling her heart swell with affection for the little girl.

Arin cleared his throat, breaking the momentary silence. "We should get going," he said, his voice laced with a note of urgency. "Tomorrow morning, you have to leave early to reach Navel City, from where you will continue your journey to the Capital."

With that, Aishia took Minhe by the hand and led her to her room, while Arin led Nellas and Yujin to a guest room.

"Goodnight, Arin," Nell said, his voice ringing out in the silence.

"See you tomorrow, Nellas," Arin replied with a polite nod.

"Good night, Arin," Yujin said, his tone soft and contemplative.
