Chapter 106: Mana Pool

As soon as Joseph and the female physician were outside the house, the physician opened her mouth.

"Five hundred," she spoke, her voice stern and business-like.

She wasn’t fazed by the strange weapons which had appeared from nowhere. No. Her focus was solely on money. After all, she wasn’t the type to mince her words.

"Five hundred coins?" Joseph repeated after the physician. His eyes were wide and his face was pale.

He could feel his heart sinking, as the realization hit him like a ton of bricks. Five hundred? It was too much. He didn’t have that kind of money. It would take him years just to save up that much, and his family needed it right now.

"Yes," the physician confirmed, her gaze fixed on Joseph.

Joseph swallowed, his throat dry. He had never been good at negotiating, and the price was a lot more than he had anticipated.

"The child’s birth was very difficult, in fact, it was almost impossible to save him," the physician added, her voice matter-of-fact. "The five hundred coins is the least I deserve."

Her tone was firm, and her words were final.

Joseph was at a loss. His mind was racing, trying to come up with a solution. But, it was futile. He didn’t have the money, and there was nothing he could do.

After a while of being silent, he sighed and fished through his pocket and managed to scrape together a meager sum of four coins.

He handed it to the physician, his face filled with shame and regret.

"I’m sorry, but this is all I have. I will give you the rest as soon as possible." His voice was low and barely audible, but the physician could hear the pain and anguish in it.

"I understand," the physician’s expression softened as she told Joseph to keep the four coins. "Just keep it and buy something healthy for your wife and child. Sonia has already told me about your financial situation."

She knew life was harsh and the cost of living was high, so she couldn’t help but feel sympathy for the struggling family.

Joseph nodded, his shoulders slumping. He was glad that the physician was understanding, but the guilt still weighed heavily on him.

"Thank you," he muttered, his voice hoarse.

"No problem," the female physician responded.

And, after the conversation had ended, the physician took her leave and began to walk away.

Meanwhile, Joseph watched her go, feeling a sense of embarrassment wash over him. He knew he shouldn’t have told his wife about his financial situation. He should have kept it hidden from her and found a way to pay Yoona, the physician, on his own.

But he couldn’t shake the feeling of worry that gnawed at him. How was he going to provide for his family? How was he going to make ends meet?

As Joseph sat on the porch of his small cottage, he couldn’t help but reminisce about the past. The memories of his childhood flooded his mind, reminding him of the hardships he had endured. He vividly remembered how he had become an orphan before even taking his first breath, and how his grandfather had become his only family.

He recalled the teachings of his wise old grandfather, who had instilled in him the values of hard work and compassion. His grandfather had always preached that good deeds never go unrewarded, and Joseph had taken those words to heart.

From a young age, Joseph had started working odd jobs to earn his keep. He would sell trinkets by the roadside, clean up farms for a few coins, and even wash clothes for others to make ends meet.

But it wasn’t just about earning a living for himself. Joseph had a heart of gold, and he would go out of his way to help those in need. He would help the sick and injured in the village, nursing them back to health with his gentle touch.

Despite his kind-hearted nature, Joseph faced numerous challenges. He struggled to put food on the table for his family, and there were times when they went hungry. But he persevered, knowing that his hard work and good deeds would one day pay off.

Despite the struggles he faced, Joseph was well-respected in the village. People would often seek his help and advice, and he was known for his generosity and kindness. His heart swelled with pride as he thought of the many lives he had touched with his selfless acts.

As the sun began to set, Joseph’s thoughts turned to the future.

As he was lost in thought, he couldn’t help but wonder what the future held for him and his family. He knew he had to find a way to make things work, but he didn’t know where to start. All he could do was hope for the best and pray that everything would work out in the end.

...

Nellas, on the other hand, was unaware of the situation outside. He was busy trying to recall the most efficient method to create a mana pool.

He vaguely remembered hearing that the most efficient and quickest way to create a mana pool was to use the ’Dantian Method’ which required the user to meditate and gather the magic particles in their bodies and form a layer around their muscles instead of their heart.

It was an advanced method, and only a few people were able to do it, and among those, even fewer could succeed.

The Dantian method was dangerous, and if done wrong, it could even cause death. However, Nellas was determined. He was willing to take the risk in order to achieve his goal.

With his mind made up, Nellas closed his eyes and focused on his breathing.

Inhale.

Exhale.

The rhythmic rise and fall of his chest slowly lulled him into a meditative state, and the sounds of the outside world faded away.

It was just him and the cool, calming sensation spreading throughout his body.

In his mind’s eye, Nellas could see the magic particles dancing around him, swirling and eddying like leaves caught in a gentle breeze.

His heart began to beat in time with the pulsating energy, and the layers around his muscles began to thicken.

Nellas could feel the mana pool taking shape. With this ’Dantian Method’ he could now use his whole body as a mana pool which is a lot bigger than a heart-shaped mana pool.

This technique is indeed dangerous, but it is also extremely powerful. With this method, Nellas could not only use magic, but he could also increase his strength, agility, and reflexes.

It was an unorthodox technique, but it was perfect for him. After all, Nellas was not your typical person. He was special. He was destined for greatness.

And with his newfound power, he would forge his own path and blaze a trail through the world.

Ding!

Soon, the familiar sound rang in his ears, indicating the success of his creation of a mana pool.

So, with a soft smile on his face, he opened his eyes and glanced at the blue screen hovering in front of him.

[Congratulations! You have successfully created a mana pool.

Current Mana: 10]

’I did it!’ Nellas couldn’t help but smile broadly. He had finally succeeded in his quest to create a mana pool.

’Now, I just need to gather magic particles, and then I will be able to activate the 99 mythical weapons!’

A determined gleam shone in Nellas’ eyes. He was going to accomplish his goal no matter what.

However, he knew he had to wait for a specific time before he could start gathering the mana particles in his newly created mana pool.

The newborn baby’s body is too fragile, and he can’t do anything strenuous in his current state.

Thus, he just sat there in his mother’s embrace, waiting for the perfect time to act.

’Soon,’ he thought, his gaze fixed on the blue screen. ’Very soon.’

As he was planning for his life coming up next, his mother was staring at him with a loving gaze.

"Are you hungry?" Sonia asked softly, a gentle smile tugging at her lips. She could sense her child’s curiosity, and it warmed her heart.

The child stared at his mother’s smiling face. She was beautiful, her eyes sparkling like stars and her silver hair falling in waves over her shoulders.

’H-hungry?... Don’t tell me!’

The child’s face reddened slightly as he realized his mother’s meaning.

He didn’t expect his mother to ask him if he was hungry. He was a baby, and babies don’t eat normal food. They drink only milk, and their mother’s milk.

’No, no, no. I am not... I am not.’
