Chapter 105: Nellas?
Chapter 105: Nellas?
’Yes, obviously,’ The child in Sonia’s arms thought as he stared at the holographic blue screen in front of him.
It was a momentous decision, one that would forever change the course of his life. But the choice was obvious, and the child made it without hesitation.
’Yes, obviously!’ He repeated.
[Activating 99 Mythical Weapons.]
As soon as the option was selected, a surge of power rushed through the child’s body, filling him with a sense of strength and vitality he had never felt before.
The child’s eyes widened as he felt the magic of the 99 weapons coursing through his veins, invigorating him and imbuing him with their power.
The child was now the owner of the 99 mythical weapons, and his destiny was about to be forge—
Ding!
[ERROR...! ERROR...!]
[Activation Failed!]
[The host doesn’t have enough mana to activate the 99 mythical weapons.]
’Oh,’ the child’s mouth formed an ’o’ shape as he read the error message, ’Right, I was born a few minutes ago. I won’t have any mana. Of course.’
The child let out a sigh, feeling slightly disappointed. However, the sense of disappointment quickly dissipated, replaced by determination.
’I need mana. And, the way to obtain mana is...’
The child knew from the knowledge of his previous life that the way to obtain mana was through absorbing the magic particles in the air.
And, the only way to absorb magic particles is through meditating and breathing very deeply.
By doing so, the magic particles would enter his body and would be stored in his mana pool, allowing him to use magic.
’I should start meditating then,’ the child decided.
He knew it would take time to build up his mana, and it wasn’t an immediate solution, but it was a necessary step if he wanted to unlock the power of the 99 mythical weapons.
’I wonder how much mana do I need to activate the 99 mythical weapons.’
The child only had to have the thought and the answer appeared before him.
Ding!
[You need to have 99,000 mana in your pool to activate the 99 mythical weapons. 1,000 per weapon.]
’Damn, that must be a lot of mana.’
The child was not discouraged, however. He knew that with time and perseverance, he would be able to achieve his goal.
’I should create a mana pool first,’
Hence, with a new goal in mind, the child closed his eyes and began to focus on his breathing.
Slowly and steadily, the child inhaled and exhaled, drawing in the magic particles in the air and absorbing them into his body.
His tiny lungs expanded and contracted, his heart rate slowed, and his mind became clear and focused.
The child meditated for what seemed like an eternity, and as the minutes ticked by, he felt a cold, calming sensation at the left side of his chest, right where his heart was.
Like swaying waves in a large blue ocean, the coolness rippled through his body, filling him with a sense of peace and tranquility.
He could feel the magic particles swirling and dancing around his pumping heart, and with each passing second, the chilling ripple grew more intense and frigid, spreading further and further throughout his tiny body.
He was in the process of making a mana pool by creating a mana layer around his heart.
Not really thick or very thin. Just the right amount to contain his mana and not affect his heart’s functions.
The process was going smoothly and the child was just a few steps away from creating his mana pool.
However, everything went to shit when the door of the old house slammed open as a shout filled the house.
"Sonia,"
It was his father, Joseph. His bearded face was lighten up with a smile, and his voice was filled with excitement and joy.
Hearing his voice, Sonia, the female physician, and even the newborn baby was surprised that his hard work and meditation was ruined.
"Sonia, I have thought of a name... a name for our boy."
Joseph declared as he strode towards his wife and child.
The child opened his eyes, feeling irritated at the man who had disturbed his meditation.
’Ah, why... why now if all times,’
He had almost completed his task and was just a few minutes away from creating his mana pool.
But now, that was gone.
He didn’t want to meditate again from the scratch. So, he just sat there, gazing at his father who was waiting for his wife to ask what name he had thought.
"What is it, dear?" Sonia asked, curious to know her husband’s choice.
Joseph’s face was brimming with pride and enthusiasm, and his eyes shone with happiness.
"Nellas," Joseph replied, "that’s the name I have chosen."
"Nellas," Sonia repeated the name, and then turned to look at her son, who was lying in her arms.
Sonia was taken aback. Nellas? It wasn’t a name she had ever heard before, but it had a certain ring to it. It sounded strong and unique.
"It’s a nice name," she remarked, smiling.
The child blinked, his eyes fixed on his parents. He was not too thrilled about the name. In fact, he was appalled. It was the same name he had in his past life.
’That is a nice name, but no! I am not taking that. I need something different, something unique. Something which can make girls swoon and men jealous.’
The child’s mind raced as he tried to come up with a better name. A name that would suit him, his new life, and his goal of becoming the strongest.
The child’s thoughts were halted, however, as he noticed a strange and mesmerizing shine in his mother’s eyes.
"Nellas," his mother repeated the name once more to test out how it would sound with her voice. And to her delight, it sounded not only beautiful, but also mysterious and enchanting.
"It’s perfect," she concluded, and her eyes met Joseph’s. The couple shared a knowing look, both of them feeling the name was indeed perfect.
The child, on the other hand, felt a little weird about the name. ’What’s up with this name? It’s not that great.’
He couldn’t understand why his mother was so fond of the name. To him, it was just a name. A common name. There was nothing special or unique about it.
He still didn’t like it.
But, when he heard his mother call him by this name, a strange and unfamiliar feeling stirred inside his chest.
A warm and fuzzy sensation.
It was a feeling he had never experienced before, and it was both foreign and pleasant.
"Nellas, my baby," his mother whispered, and the child felt a sense of belonging and warmth.
He could feel his mother’s love and affection in her words, and it filled him with a deep sense of joy and contentment.
The child was silent, his gaze fixed on his mother. He could feel the vibration in her chest as she spoke, and he could smell the sweet fragrance of her hair and skin.
"Nellas," she called out once again, and the child couldn’t help but smile.
In that moment, the child realized that the name Nellas was more than just a name. It was a symbol of his mother’s love and devotion, and it was a reminder of the bond they shared.
’This name, I guess, is not that bad.’
The child was touched, and as his mother’s loving voice echoed through the old house, he couldn’t help but feel grateful.
In that moment, the child—no, Nellas felt like the luckiest boy in the world.
"Nellas, thank you," Suddenly, Sonia’s tone changed, and the child, who had been staring at her with an innocent and pure gaze, was taken aback.
’Huh?’ He didn’t understand why his mother was suddenly thanking him, but the expression on her face was filled with gratitude and appreciation.
"Thank you for coming into our lives. Thank you for giving us a chance to be a family. And thank you for giving us hope," Sonia continued.
"Thank you, my precious Nellas."
She was crying now, her tears falling down her cheeks like soft rain. But the smile on her face was as bright as the sun, and her eyes were filled with happiness and joy.
Witnessing it, Joseph was going to walk up to them and embrace his wife in a warm hug, but before he could, the female physician called him.
"Joseph, meet me outside,"
Her voice was calm, but there was a hint of urgency in it.
Joseph frowned. He wanted to stay by his wife’s side, but he could tell the Physician needed to talk to him.
"Alright, I’ll be back," he said, giving his wife a quick peck on the cheek before following the Physician outside.
