Chapter 67: Chapter 67 Offending the Wang Family

You Gaolang swooped down from the high sky like a great eagle, stabbing a sword toward Nezha’s neck.

This maneuver seemed relentless and without retreat, but with his swordsmanship, he could attack if advancing, and defend if retreating.

The Wang Family’s eldest son, Wang Hanwen, was originally a scholar with ambitions to become an official in Zhaoge, but now he had been noticed by an Immortal, taken under his wing, and had become a cultivator.

And being the guard chosen to become a cultivator, You Gaolang certainly had some skills.

Seeing this person’s swordsmanship, Nezha’s eyes lit up too, thinking that this person’s sword moves were complex with hidden killing intent, entirely different from the style of the East King Sword.

If it were an ordinary day, he would have had to slowly maneuver and learn the essence of the opponent’s sword technique.

But today, his intent was to provoke the opponent to strike quickly and brutally to establish authority.

Nezha sometimes lamented that his physical body was really unfair, as ordinary people, no matter how much they trained in martial arts, couldn’t keep up with his speed and perception.

And Nezha wasn’t unfamiliar with swordsmanship; when the opponent descended, he had already raised his hand at just the right moment, as if the opponent had voluntarily placed his wrist into his palm.

You Gaolang was even more astonished than Nezha; he, like the other guests in the inn, saw Nezha make a move but couldn’t see how he made that move at all.

Nezha’s motion didn’t stop; with a flick of his hand, You Gaolang let out a miserable scream, and the sword he held suddenly diverted and plunged into his own neck.

You Gaolang immediately fell to the ground, making gurgling sounds from his throat, his handsome face now twisted with features contorted into a mass, every muscle twitching.

As Nezha released his hand, the sword hilt lodged in You Gaolang’s throat began to sway incessantly.

He glanced coldly at the crowd, driving back all the stares directed at him.

The crowd felt a chill in their hearts, and the person who had just left their seat to tether their horse sat back down, sweat streaming down their face and their legs trembling nonstop.

Even the inn keeper, with a face full of hesitation, stood by watching, not daring to approach for a moment.

Nezha sat down at the table, looking at all this before him, suddenly longing for his home at Chentang Pass, where, although he found Li Jing unpleasant, everyone else was very kind.

He glanced at the woman beside him, who was staring at him with wide eyes, and smiled at her.

He wondered, if this person lived in Chentang Pass, would her fate be entirely different from now?

The Lv Ping at home was abandoned by Li Jing and was sent to the laundry room to wash towering piles of dirty clothes all day. She felt unfortunate, but her suffering was nothing compared to that of this woman.

At this time, the innkeeper came over, brought Nezha a pot of tea and a plate of snacks, and said with a smile, "Young master, your skills are admirable, but you’ve offended the Wang Family. Staying here isn’t wise."

Nezha looked up at him and seriously replied, "Are you worried that I’ll cause trouble for you?"

The fat innkeeper laughed and shook his head, saying, "Not quite; the Wang Family may have sway in Lingquan Town, but Lingquan Town is also under Sanshan Pass’s jurisdiction, and our inn’s real boss isn’t here."

With that, the fat innkeeper pointed upwards, implying that they had backing above, so they weren’t afraid of the Wang Family and were advising him out of goodwill.

Nezha sincerely thanked him and decided to order two of the more expensive dishes that were rarely ordered when he next ordered food. He smiled and said, "Thank you for your kindness, innkeeper. If you’re not afraid, I won’t be either. Once the person I’m waiting for arrives and the matter is settled, I’ll naturally leave."

The fat innkeeper, seeing Nezha’s stubbornness, suddenly thought of something and asked, "You’ve been waiting here for two days, but it doesn’t seem you’re waiting for a friend."

Nezha smiled without answering, and the innkeeper turned and walked back, sighing as he went, thinking to himself that times were indeed tough, with even such young kids being so ruthless.

He ordered a table full of good food for dinner, and while he was eating, that woman cautiously moved over to his table step by step.

She spoke carefully, standing very close, with a scent of cheap sachet on her. Only then did Nezha notice that her voice was quite pleasant up close.

The woman said, "Young... young master, could you..."

Nezha looked up into her eyes and saw her pupils tremble. Helplessly, he smiled wryly and said, "Sister, I know you want to do business, but is it possible that I’m still just a child?"

The woman’s face turned red, and Nezha thought he saw tears welling up in her eyes as if she were about to cry.

But she didn’t cry in the end, gritted her teeth, and said, "Please, young master, I haven’t eaten in a day and a night. Please have mercy and spare me a bite of your leftovers, and I’ll be forever grateful and willing to wash clothes or feed horses for you, anything you ask."

Nezha glanced at her again, called out to the inn’s servant, and said, "Bring another bowl of noodle soup with meat, extra noodles and meat."

He then turned to her and whispered, "If you’re hungry, eat. I don’t need you to do anything for me."

The noodles arrived quickly, and the woman ate them ravenously, clearly starving. Only when she reached the layer of fatty meat atop the noodles did she nibble it delicately, savoring the oily flavor.

Nezha didn’t concern himself with her and went upstairs amid scrutinizing glances. He could let those seeking death die and those seeking life have a chance for survival.

But now, he needed to find a way out for himself.

So Nezha didn’t return to his room but knocked on the neighboring door instead. When the voice inside said "Come in," Nezha felt a surge of joy and entered with a cheeky smile.

A Taoist lay reclining on the bed, one hand behind his head, the other flipping through the Yellow Court Scripture.

Nezha clasped his hands in salute and said, "I am Li Nezha of the Taoist sect, here to pay respects to the elder."

The Taoist turned a page, chuckled, and lazily said, "If you have more questions, ask your master at Qianyuan Mountain Golden Light Cave. I’m too unlearned to deal with you as a disciple."

Hearing this, Nezha felt embarrassed, rubbed his hands together, and said, "The elder is just joking; today, I don’t have any cultivation questions to ask."

"Oh?" The Taoist closed the book. "Didn’t you ask so many questions yesterday to annoy me into kicking you out? Why are you voluntarily coming now, with the guts to kill in public, but feeling scared upon reflection?"

Nezha thought this old Taoist indeed knew everything, so he told the truth, saying, "I’m naturally not afraid of that Lingquan Town Wang Family. Whatever family power or cultivating young master’s coming after me, I’ll deal with them. But I’m a bit worried about his unknown master stepping in."

Hearing this, the Taoist pondered for a moment and said, "Bullying the small is indeed wrong, so as you wish, if there really is an old man acting shamelessly, I’ll step in to help."

Nezha thanked him again and slowly backed out of the room.

He wouldn’t stay here for long.

For no other reason than hearing the news on the street this afternoon that an army coming from Chentang Pass would camp in Lingquan Town the day after tomorrow for rest.
