Claiming the Throne of Gods, Starting from the Rebirth of Nezha -
Chapter 157: Panxi Fisherman
Chapter 157: Chapter 157: Panxi Fisherman
"Are you Nezha?"
Looking at the young man before him, Aoguang maintained a calm expression, but inside, his heart was already a raging storm.
The vigor of this young man’s blood was even stronger than his own True Dragon form. It was hard to imagine whether he was born with an innate immortal body or had crafted such a Golden Core; either way, he was not to be underestimated.
Aoguang valued the strength of the flesh, stepping ashore from the seabed, undisturbed by the towering waves.
Ao Yu, however, was drawn to Nezha’s eyes.
Those eyes, as dark as ink, gave her a shiver from a single glance, as if her body was following suit in weakness.
Underneath the wet hair was a cold expression and eyes as swift as lightning. He wore pitch-black attire, with his exposed hands bulging with veins. Though meeting for the first time, and his realm far from theirs, he exuded an indescribable and unparalleled aura.
"Was it you who made my son Ao Bing speak for you and canceled the Sea Dragon King’s sacrifice?"
"It was me."
Nezha stood neither humble nor haughty, even if Dragon King Aoguang were to blame him for this matter, even if the Dragon King came to Yuxu Palace just to stay out of this chaos, he still wanted to express his thanks.
After watching him for a while, the Dragon King clapped his hands and said:
"Good, good, good. You truly are a hero of your youth. Go, go be the Chan Sect’s dog, hahaha."
After seeing Nezha, the Dragon King turned his back and walked into the sea, Ao Yu also glanced at him and tightly followed behind Aoguang.
Once more, only a man and a dragon were left on the coast.
"Are you alright?"
"I won’t die."
The two fell silent for a moment before Ao Bing coldly said, "You didn’t see anything."
Nezha raised his hand in oath, "After receiving your message, I came as fast as I could. I didn’t see anything, of course."
"Good then."
Ao Bing nodded, letting out a long sigh, and said, "I’m dizzy to death."
"At least you didn’t die."
"But we did offend Taiyi Zhenren."
Nezha sat down on the ground, feeling exhausted, yet inexplicably relieved inside.
Seeing Nezha silent, Ao Bing looked up at him. Seeing his expression, he grew even more annoyed, saying, "You’re laughing!"
"Of course, I’m laughing. If I don’t laugh, should I cry?"
"You said you didn’t see anything!"
"I swore, I didn’t see anything." Thinking of Ao Bing crying, and of Yuanshi Tianzun suddenly speaking for him, Nezha couldn’t help but lay on the beach, laughing heartily.
Life is exhausting; moments like this are rare.
Ao Bing looked at him with a strange expression, thinking to himself, having killed the Spirit Pearl and escaped under the hands of Chan Sect masters, it’s indeed something to be happy about.
But is it worth laughing like this?
"Don’t be too worried. Look, even if you didn’t offend him before, he still wanted to kill you. Since that’s the case, why not offend him?"
"I don’t get it. I was just sitting peacefully in the Dragon Palace, not offending anyone, and even sent gifts to the Chan Sect every year. It’s not as if Taiyi Zhenren didn’t accept them. So why, after receiving them, one moment the Spirit Pearl wanted to kill me, and the next, Taiyi Zhenren wanted to kill me too. Is it really as Taiyi Zhenren said, that you’re the calamity star that kills anyone who provokes you?"
"How the hell would I know."
After a moment, Nezha got up from the ground and walked straight into the forest without looking back.
"Where are you going?" Ao Guang shouted.
"I’m going home to find my mom."
"Take this!"
Ao Bing tossed something over. Nezha caught it and saw it was a head ring, asking, "You’ve lost all your magic treasures, yet you don’t keep this ring?"
Ao Bing sneered, "Our Dragon Palace is rich with the Four Seas. We’re not in such dire straits. The Spirit Pearl died at your hands, so this thing should be yours. Besides, though the Purple Gold Head Ring is good for Golden Core Realm cultivators, it won’t be much use once you reach the Loose Immortal Realm and your Primordial Spirit stabilizes."
Nezha looked at Ao Bing, who just snorted and turned away.
"Thanks."
Seeing this, Nezha smiled, and with a flick of his wrist, he dispelled the prohibition once left in Ao Bing’s body.
He didn’t go straight back to the mansion. Instead, he rode the tunnel light up in the sky, looking down to see everyone in mourning attire, and hear the cries of the women in the main hall.
The main gate was open, with people lining up outside to offer their condolences. Several prominent figures from Chentang Pass were already present, feigning pretentious sympathy.
Each face was filled with sorrow, lamenting the loss, yet each was calculating who would take the Chentang Pass General position now open with Li Jing’s death.
Hearing his mother’s sobs, Nezha felt like a knife was twisting in his heart. But his heart needed to be strong at this moment. With a glance at the ground, he saw Lv Ping locked in the woodshed, hands and feet chained, face bruised, clearly beaten.
Outside the door were servants on guard and officials discussing with the house steward.
Murder, arson, chicken thievery — all minor incidents not under the jurisdiction of the General’s Mansion. However, since Li Jing died at the hands of a maid, word passing out would be disgraceful.
Being colleagues, the law officer was willing to give the Li Family this face, not making a big deal of it, as long as the stewards managed the matter appropriately.
In the sky, Nezha used a minor spell to stir up a sandstorm, throwing the residence into chaos, sand blinding their eyes.
"The wind is rising, protect the spirit hall!"
"Guard Minister Wang!"
"Oh heaven, could it be the spirit of the old master?"
...
In an unnoticed corner, the woodshed door was blown open, wrapping the terrified Lv Ping into the wind and up into the sky.
Lv Ping screamed in fear, but no one was paying attention. The wind carried her to the sky, into Nezha’s hand.
Nezha, holding her by the collar, flew westward. In the air, Lv Ping was shielded from the wind by Nezha’s tunnel light, and calmed down after a long while.
Seeing Nezha holding her, Lv Ping said, "You actually came to save me."
"Didn’t I already say I would?"
"There’s no shortage of men whose words don’t count."
"But I’m not among them."
Lv Ping laughed and cried, finally asking, "Where are you taking me?"
"To Xiqi."
"I’m an orphaned woman going to Xiqi, alone and unaided. Isn’t that a dead end?"
Nezha said, "I’ve heard Xiqi is different from other places. Officials without wives are given money to marry, and those without dowries get help from the government. Poor people like you, with no one to rely on, are given monthly rations to prevent starvation."
"Where on earth is such a good place?" Lv Ping was skeptical.
"Honestly, I don’t believe it either. With the productivity of this world, it’s good enough if everyone can eat. Xiqi isn’t some Cave Heaven Blessed Land."
The two chatted along the way, asking directions several times, and finally found their way to such a place near Xiqi.
Seeing the village with smoke rising, a small stream flowing from the mountains, green pines and cypresses, and peach trees all around, with fields interconnecting and the sounds of animals.
"This place looks nice. Where is it? If you place me here, I could find a good family to marry into and survive."
Hearing Lv Ping say this, Nezha laughed, "This is called Panxi, a tributary of the Wei River. I’ll first take you to meet someone who said you’ll live here. You might as well try living here."
Nezha was curious. The Wei River is the largest tributary of the Yellow River in northwest Gansu. But this world, with its even and limitless lands, these ancient lands all intact, puzzled him.
Lv Ping followed Nezha along the stream, until they saw the stream merge with a large river. There was a fishing platform made of wooden planks by the mountain.
On the platform sat an old man with a white beard, fishing under a shed, exuding a mysterious aura.
Before the two could approach, the old man seemed to sense something, turned his head, and immediately saw Nezha, filled with shock.
"That damn Nezha! How the hell did you know I was here!"
