Chapter 135: Chapter 135 I am the Emperor!

The two chatted nonsense all night. The next day, Jiang Ziya went to work as usual at the Qintianjian, bantering with his equally idle colleagues.

Nezha unusually slept through the day, leaving Lv Zhu’er to manage the household chores alone.

The big black dog basked in the sun on a stone at the door, occasionally barking at the sun with little warmth, then turning over to expose its equally black belly before falling into a deep sleep again.

Everything was as usual.

In the evening, Gao Zhangfang brought braised pig’s head meat to Jiang Ziya for a drink. Not seeing Nezha, he asked, "Where did that handsome young man of yours go to play?"

"Oh, don’t mention him. He was bewitched by that Yumao’er from the Spring Breeze Building and went there tonight. Who knows how much silver he’ll throw away again."

Jiang Ziya was full of disapproval. Gao Zhangfang sighed deeply upon hearing it and began to discuss with his confidant about the current state of Zhaoge’s youth lacking ambition and the pervasive presence of brothels. With three cups of wine down, their voices grew louder and louder, causing Lv Zhu’er next door to lose sleep.

Lv Zhu’er glanced at the empty bed opposite and became curious, thinking about how the young master changed into an all-black outfit before going out, which didn’t look like he was going to the Spring Breeze Building.

...

Nezha utilized his tunnel light to enter the Imperial Palace straight from above the Nine Heavens without any obstacle. Looking down, he saw the highest building was the Star Pick Building.

There were sounds of musical instruments and laughter coming from the Star Pick Building. Even though he couldn’t see the people, he knew those qualified to enjoy drinking here must be King Zhou and Daji.

Looking down, indeed there was a large pit below, with venomous snakes writhing, emitting a stench that filled the air like a demonic cave opened in the world.

Without hesitation, he descended from the sky, and blazing flames spouted from his Fire-tipped Spear, instantly incinerating the bloody venomous snakes in the ’Snake Pit,’ sending rolling flames skyward, startling King Zhou atop the Star Pick Building.

"Why did such a fire start for no reason?"

Daji, beside him, reported, "Your Majesty, this fire started suddenly and fiercely, likely deliberately set."

The moon flickered, obscured by floating clouds.

In the moonlight, a beautiful woman appeared graceful, with icy skin and jade-like bones.

King Zhou glanced at the beauty beside him, then raised his head and coldly declared, "Such audacity! Dare to start a fire in my palace! Someone, summon the soldiers! Capture—"

His words barely finished when he abruptly saw a glint of cold light flying towards his face!

King Zhou was shocked. Daji beside him reacted even faster. The palace attendants panicked, but with King Zhou so close, she couldn’t use her demonic power, only pushing King Zhou aside.

Yet, unexpectedly, the cold light turned, taking another swipe at her neck.

Daji was greatly alarmed. She was initially a millennium-old Fox Demon who killed Su Daji, the daughter of Su Hu, to assume her place, gaining the Emperor’s favor and enjoying wealth in Zhaoge City, never expecting such disaster on Star Pick Building.

Seeing no alternative but to use sorcery to defend, suddenly, a blade slashed from beside her, clashing with a clinking sound, sparks flying, the sword light was chopped down by the blade light.

Nezha remained undiscouraged after missing his strike.

He noted that apart from Daji, the others present were powerless palace attendants, even if he stood there letting them hack and slash, he wouldn’t be harmed.

King Zhou indeed had divine power, but still just a mortal Emperor, only his physique was stronger than the average Golden Core Stage cultivator.

Nezha’s confidence soared. Having failed to cut Daji with the Seven-star Treasure Sword, he went for King Zhou again. King Zhou, angry, wielded the Emperor’s sword to cut back, dragon energy surging on his body, formidable-looking in appearance.

Though imposing, Nezha’s actual strength was evident, smashing the weapon from King Zhou’s hand with one strike, tearing his palm completely.

King Zhou didn’t anticipate such ferocity in the assassin’s attack. Nezha lunged with a sword straight at King Zhou’s chest, but Daji behind him attacked Nezha’s back with a sword.

Nezha, turning back, slashed the sword from her hand with another strike.

"Beauty!"

"Great King, go quickly! I’ll stop him!"

Nezha hadn’t expected the mutual devotion between King Zhou and Daji, he thought, stop me? I doubt you can!

In the glow of sword fire, he nearly killed Daji, causing her to flee in a panic, dragging several palace attendants and tossing them at Nezha.

Nezha set them aside and pressed forward, only to find Daji gone, hence swiftly descending to chase King Zhou.

Star Pick Building was high, King Zhou hadn’t descended yet, his pace was quick but not as fast as Nezha.

Guards attempted to block, but Nezha’s shadow remained unseen, flashing by like smoke, instantly appearing before King Zhou.

King Zhou stood tall, yet as he looked up, a sword’s gleam under the moonlight chopped down, frightening him into shouting, "I’m dead meat!"

His swordsmanship had peaked in essence, energy, and spirit, even Nezha himself couldn’t unleash a second strike instantly, he couldn’t fathom how King Zhou might block.

King Zhou didn’t block, only screamed miserably.

But suddenly a bolt of lightning flashed from clouds obscuring the moon, striking Nezha in midair, knocking him down!

Nezha lay on the steps, smoke rising from his body, gnashing his teeth in hatred, alarm in his heart.

Having endured eighty-one strokes of Heavenly Tribulation golden thunder upon achieving Golden Core Nine Revolutions, although charred black on the surface by the thunder now, appearing tragic but essentially not harmed.

His fear resided in why the thunder fell out of nowhere.

Was it the work of a master, or as Jiang Ziya said, meddling of the Heavenly Dao?

Violent wind and rain shook Zhaoge.

Thunder accompanied lightning, lightning heralded thunder.

It felt as if a curtain of water hung between heaven and earth, soaking through people’s clothes in an instant.

"Hahaha, Heaven protects my Chengtang, I am the Emperor, under Heaven’s protection! You rebel, deservedly struck by lightning to death!"

In the storm, King Zhou stood on the long steps of the Star Pick Building, laughing hysterically. Then the guards arrived, and King Zhou grabbed a treasured blade from one of them, slashing at the unmoving Nezha on the ground.

But as the blade descended, Nezha, seemingly dead from the strike, suddenly burst up, a sword gleam targeting his left eye, seemingly penetrating through the brain.

King Zhou screamed, and in his panic, slipped, narrowly dodging away.

By chance, in his tumble, the weight increased the force in his grasp, wielding the blade onto Nezha’s neck.

Born with innate divine strength, the blade shrieked through the air, striking deeply into Nezha’s flesh, but before the King could turn his fright into joy, the blade bounced off.

The seemingly indestructible blade left merely a white mark on Nezha’s skin, not even drawing blood.

Lightning didn’t kill him.

Blades couldn’t kill him.

King Zhou, witnessing this, was scared breathless, hiding behind a guard. Nezha wouldn’t let him escape, grabbing his robe, thrusting with his sword.

Yet the rain was too heavy, blurring vision. As he stabbed forth, blood splattered over his face, and wiping his face clear of rain, it turned out the one dead was just a guard.

King Zhou was already fleeing downstairs.

Nezha gritted his teeth, activating the Qiankun Ring for another strike. The Qiankun Ring, a magic treasure of incredible speed and invincibility, had allowed Nezha, upon entering God Absorption Realm, to kill the Sea Patrol Yaksha Li Gen of Golden Core Realm just with it.

But at this moment amidst a thunderstorm, the Qiankun Ring, made of gold, was struck by lightning even before it flew far, knocking it down and dispersing Nezha’s focus spirit tied to it.

"Ah—"

Screaming in rage amidst the storm, Nezha’s voice reverberated, shocking the surrounding guards and causing the fleeing King Zhou below to panic in his haste.

Standing in the storm, Nezha retrieved the Qiankun Ring, as King Zhou’s trace was lost and below Star Pick Building armored soldiers packed together, blades like a forest.

With each of his previous attempts capable of killing King Zhou, logically, he had no reason to survive.

Yet King Zhou lived, not only lived but escaped from him.

He stood silently for a moment, looking back to see the fire in the snake pit still burning.

The fire was Samadhi Fire, and though the rain was rootless water, it couldn’t extinguish it any time soon.
