Claiming the Throne of Gods, Starting from the Rebirth of Nezha
Chapter 125: Many Skeletons in Xuanyuan Tomb

Chapter 125: Chapter 125: Many Skeletons in Xuanyuan Tomb

Falling to the ground, he saw an ordinary town, but the scene before him was completely different from the bustling places like Songjia Village or Ma’s Mansion, desolate and in ruins.

"Under the emperor’s seat in Zhaoge, it should be wealthier than other places."

As Nezha walked in, he immediately saw a family of five, looking like a family unit, with everything they owned packed onto a cart, tied with hemp rope, being pulled by the robust young man of the family as they headed out.

Nezha approached them and asked, "Big brother, are you moving?"

The whole family looked up at him, their faces thin and gaunt, shrouded with grief. The young man sighed, nodded, and seemed unwilling to say a word.

Seeing this, Nezha felt there must be a reason for their sorrow.

During his time in Zhaoge, he had noticed that the people’s attachment to their homeland was much stronger here than elsewhere, and they wouldn’t easily leave, let alone relocate their entire family.

"Is there a reason for your hardship?"

The young man turned his head away, while the old man helping to push the cart patted the head of his grandson, who was still unaware of the situation and playing with a toy, sighed, and said, "Young man, you must be from elsewhere; you don’t know that in our area, those who had the ability have already left. In such a large town, only a few dozen households remain, all of them too old, weak, or sick to go elsewhere without starving, so they’re still here for now."

Upon hearing this, Nezha frowned slightly and asked, "What’s the matter with this?"

The old man then explained the background to Nezha.

It turned out that there was an Xuanyuan Tomb located near this town.

This Xuanyuan Tomb has a long history. Back when Nuwa mended the sky and Gong Gong crashed into Mount Buzhou, causing the sky to tilt northwest, Nuwa not only mended the sky but also used the four legs of a giant turtle as pillars to support the heavens. This divine turtle was also known as Xuanyuan. So, the burial place of the dead giant turtle was called Xuanyuan Tomb.

Later, Nuwa arranged for several demons to guard the tomb of the divine turtle here, which included the Thousand-year-old Fox Spirit, the Nine-headed Pheasant Spirit, and the Jade Pipa Spirit.

However, since then, many demons started gathering here, eating humans without end, and the stench was overwhelming.

After hearing this, Nezha suppressed his anger and asked, "Has the government not taken any action?"

"Alas, the world is in chaos now, and the court’s mind is on training soldiers and waging war. Relying only on a few government officials is useless. Who would even care about our life and death?"

Hearing the old man sigh, Nezha asked, "Old man, where is Xuanyuan Tomb?"

The old man pointed towards the southern hills. Seeing Nezha thank him and start walking, he anxiously pulled him back and said, "Child, you can’t go there; it’s deadly!"

"Yes, little brother, those demons get hungry and come out to eat people. The inside is filled with the smell of blood and mountains of bones, a true hell on earth."

The young man also tried to dissuade him, but Nezha assured them not to worry as he was a disciple of an immortal family, sent here to vanquish demons and subdue evil spirits.

Hearing this, the young man’s spirits lifted immediately, and he asked, "Is that really true?"

"Of course, it’s true."

"Then I’ll take you there." The young man slapped his chest, ready to go with Nezha.

The old man urgently objected, saying, "Zhen’er, you can’t go."

This young man, named Li Zhen, put down the rope pulling the cart from his shoulder, looked at the old man, and said, "Father, our Li Family has lived in this Li Family Village for generations. Now, our family has the ability to leave, but what about the elderly clan uncles and the widows and orphans whose husbands have died? They can’t leave. Going elsewhere means starvation, but staying here means being eaten by demons. The only way to resolve this problem is to kill all these demons."

"This big brother is truly a hero. I assure you, elder, that I’ll protect Brother Zhen with all my might."

The elder still worried, and even the child on the cart was making noise, but Li Zhen had already made up his mind and only brought Nezha along, heading south through several wide and narrow alleys.

Even from a distance, Nezha caught a faint scent of blood.

"Another mile ahead is Xuanyuan Tomb. I used to play there often as a child. However, in recent years, more incidents of demon attacks have occurred, and anyone who goes there gets eaten by demons, so no one dares to go anymore."

Nezha aimed his gaze in that direction, only to see a demon cloud hovering low over the large mound, eerily and grimly, even more so than in Zhaoge.

He said, "Brother Zhen, you should stop here. You risked your life to guide me, but there’s no reason for you to endanger yourself."

"Don’t worry, brother; I may lack other things, but courage isn’t one of them."

"Foolish!" Nezha scolded, "I just saw your parents are old and your wife still young. Like pulling a cart, the lives of your whole family rest on your shoulders. If you die, they will starve no matter where they go."

Nezha’s words were a wake-up call, and Li Zhen, who was full of energy before, turned pale and sweat poured like rain.

He knew Nezha was right; times were tough now, and if he died, his parents and wife, being forced into exile, would die too.

Seeing him calm down, Nezha continued, "If that’s the case, then wait here for me."

"Be careful."

"Thanks for your blessing."

Nezha walked further, and within a few hundred steps, the scenery changed completely.

After the demons ate people, they dragged the leftover bones from their lairs and threw them far away, to the outskirts of Xuanyuan Tomb, making this place blood-red, strewn with bones everywhere.

The ghastly white human bones intertwined appeared to form a wall of bone.

Nezha kept walking forward, and as he turned a corner in an open area, he suddenly saw a delicate-looking woman sitting on a stone bench, posing coquettishly, her beautiful eyes smiling.

A skeletal beauty, contrary to the norm.

He looked at the woman, and she looked at him.

Seeing Nezha neither speaking nor approaching, the woman smiled and said, "Why don’t you come over, little brother? I’m bored; how about we drink and enjoy bliss together?"

"Sigh."

Nezha sighed, pointing at her skirt trailing on the ground, and said, "Demon, your fox tail is showing."

"Oh, indeed it is. This transformation technique is really tricky to master."

Looking back, she saw a part of her tail exposed from under her skirt. Angrily, she muttered to herself, "I thought I had mastered the transformation technique so I could go to Zhaoge City and live happily with my ancestors, but I still can’t get it right."

She looked up and smiled again, but this smile didn’t seem human, her voice laced with scorn. "My dear brother, is your meat delicious?"

"My flesh is tough and hard; eating it would break your teeth."

"Nonsense! You look fair and handsome, like those young scholars who come to the capital seeking official positions." The fox spirit beckoned to Nezha with a finger. "Come, if you can make sister happy tonight, maybe I’ll let you live a few more days."

The pervasive fox scent was even more overpowering than the stench of bones, making Nezha frown slightly as he asked, "Have you eaten people?"

"The way you ask, it’s like humans have never killed foxes. Humans kill foxes, so I eat humans. Tell me, isn’t that fair?"

"It certainly is fair."

Nezha nodded, then suddenly, the dainty young woman revealed a fox’s face, her bloody fangs bared, and viciously pounced.

As the demon lunged, Nezha blocked with his arm, allowing the fox to bite down on it.

Inside, the fox spirit anticipated the sweet, tender flesh of Nezha, thinking of his fair skin and unshakeable demeanor, feeling even more eager.

Thus, she decided not to kill him immediately but to savor him as she had before, slowly watching him beg for mercy in fear until he was finally dead.

The last time she had been so excited was with a handsome government official in Zhaoge City, but, unfortunately, she couldn’t keep him all to herself as several sisters shared the feast with her.

She opened her mouth to bite, but after a long time, it felt like biting into an old tree root — neither breaking the skin nor drawing blood, prompting her to realize something was amiss.

At that moment, she heard a sigh above her head.

"Sigh, I told you already, my flesh is tough and hard; it’s not good for eating."

She looked up, meeting Nezha’s ink-black eyes, which were icy cold, his killing intent almost tangible!

Just then, the spiritual energy hidden within Nezha gradually emerged, as streaks of golden light revealed themselves. Realizing she had provoked a human cultivator, the lowly fox spirit was scared out of her wits.

Before she could unclench her jaw, Nezha applied force to his forearm, with muscles taut like steel, instantly shattering all her sharp teeth!

The fox demon, her mouth full of blood, turned around to flee on all fours.

But with a single stretch of his hand, Nezha grabbed her tail, and no matter how she struggled, she couldn’t break free. Finding she couldn’t run away, she turned back to claw at Nezha’s face.

Nezha had no patience for her antics, grabbing her by the neck with one hand, pinning her head with the other, rendering her attempts to kick and struggle in mid-air useless.

"Didn’t you just say it was fair? Since you think you should eat humans, then isn’t it fair for me to kill you now?"

The young fox stared at Nezha, too scared to answer.

With a slight twist of his hand, Nezha easily broke her neck.
