Chapter 123: Chapter 123 Catching People to Tell Fortunes
Little Piggy revealed its true form, but Nezha didn’t refuse. After reporting to Lady Yin, she couldn’t bear to let him leave again.
Lady Yin felt bitter in her heart. Although she knew that her two sons, Jinzha and Muzha, went away to practice with wise men, they hadn’t even returned home for a visit, nor sent any messages, as if they were stolen by someone else’s family.
Fortunately, she still had Nezha, who, even when he went out, always wrote to his mother to assure her that he was safe.
"Mother knows that boys can’t be kept at home when they grow up, but you won’t even be eight for a few months," she said, holding Nezha’s hand and glancing at his tall and sturdy young frame, "Even though you don’t look like you’re eight..."
Chatting with his mother for a long time, Nezha coaxed Lady Yin to sleep before sneaking back to his room.
He had promised to take Lv Zhu’er with him, but just after agreeing with the little girl, she looked at him with her big, innocent eyes and solemnly told him that she had also agreed with Da Hei to take it along when they went out.
Oh, my Sea Guardian Black General, since when did you learn to lead little girls astray!
Nezha sighed, opened the door to his small world, and drove both Lv Zhu’er and Da Hei inside together.
Da Hei was slender and long, a genuinely thin dog. It was said that it was initially bought as a hunting dog, but a foreign dog dealer tricked them. Da Hei couldn’t become a hunting dog, so it was thrown to Nezha.
It ran and jumped into the grass, only sticking its head out, howling twice in surprise, and after familiarizing itself with the environment, it joyfully darted across the fertile fields, turning into a black shadow darting from east to west, and then south to north.
"Master, where is this place?"
Nezha chuckled and said, "This is my Cave Heaven Blessed Land."
"Master is so amazing!"
Little Piggy was still too short, so Nezha let her ride on his shoulders, and when they arrived by the lake, he grabbed a fishing rod and cast it into the lake.
Nezha was fishing, Lv Zhu’er cooking.
Though she was young, growing up in the East Sea Fishing Village meant her skill at preparing fish was quite good.
As the fragrance of the fish soup wafted through, Da Hei came dashing from a little slope nearby, running as if fleeing for its life.
"Master, look quickly!"
Nezha didn’t need to look; he knew from the sound of hooves that it was that silly Sorrel Horse. It was originally a spiritual beast from the mountains, and upon entering this small world, it naturally became a proud horse king, instinctively beginning to dominate all creatures intruding on its territory.
In front of it, Da Hei naturally could only tuck its tail and flee in panic.
Taking a glance at the Sorrel Horse, Nezha thought, maybe he should find a few mares for the Sorrel Horse. After all, the grassland was vast, and it could sustain a small herd.
Nezha stayed at home for half a month before returning to Zhaoge, bringing the little girl to live in Ziya’s Life Hall.
Watching Lv Zhu’er as she alternated between hanging cups on a bamboo rod to dry and running out to sweep and mop the floor, wipe tables, and wash benches, he couldn’t help approaching Jiang Ziya, who was sitting behind a desk reading.
"Old man, can’t you be a little less sloppy? There’s a layer of dust on the table and your cuffs are all oily; don’t you find it disgusting?"
Jiang Ziya glared at him, saying, "There are no customers; why bother wiping the table?"
He stretched and yawned before continuing, "I’d like the room to be clean everywhere too, but no way. Ma won’t come to the city to help me, and without earning money, I can’t afford servant girls. Luckily, you’re considerate, bringing a little girl with you after going home. But she seems too young to do much hard work."
"Old man, if you dare make Lv Zhu’er do any hard work at all, I’ll twist your head off."
"Oh, look, getting all worked up! Do you think Jiang Ziya is that kind of person? Look at what I have here, a book! Do you understand, you country bumpkin?"
His business here was poor, and no one came for fortune-telling, but fortunately, with Nezha’s assistance, he didn’t starve. Living by himself in the city without anyone nagging him was pretty comfortable.
Every day he just read some leisure books, drank tea, and kept birds for amusement.
Nezha walked over, grabbed his wrist, and flipped it.
"Ouch, ouch, ouch, I was wrong, be gentle!"
"I wondered what book it was — ’Jinglong’s Complete Story’. This isn’t even considered wild history."
"I am well-read, familiar with the classics of various schools; why on earth would I put up with those pedantic scholars and read sutras and military books?"
Nezha sighed, unable to bear it, removed the gentleman’s dustless pendant from his waist and hung it on Jiang Ziya’s belt. Only then did the old man regain a few points of decency.
"Good nephew, if you have good stuff like this, why didn’t you take it out sooner?"
Rolling his eyes, Nezha said, "I see you’re just idle. How about I find a customer for you later, to ensure your business flourishes and keeps you busy?"
"You’re just bluffing."
Nezha set out immediately; he didn’t go looking for Liu Qian. Instead, he casually grabbed a person from the street and dragged them into the shop.
The person was terrified, looking at Nezha still bewildered, and asked, "Young hero, what do you want?"
"Nothing much, just want you to have your fortune told by him."
"I have nothing wrong; what’s there to tell?"
The person was dumbfounded, but Nezha only said, "Just let him tell your fortune. If he’s inaccurate, I’ll compensate you with two taels of silver."
Nezha rested his hand on his shoulder, and even when the man tried his best, he couldn’t stand up and found no way to escape. With a sigh, he had to follow Nezha’s words and get his fortune told.
On the side, Jiang Ziya glanced first at the man and then at Nezha, thinking, is this really okay?
Whether it was or not, it turned out that the man was the boss of a restaurant in the city, living comfortably and recently married to a concubine.
Yet there was one thing troubling him.
Though he was in his thirties, none of his wives had any signs of pregnancy. He had taken a lot of medicine to no avail, and his vast fortune seemed poised to end without an heir.
He then asked, "So can you tell me when any of my wives might give me a son?"
Hearing this, Nezha thought that such a fortune wasn’t favorable. If there was no son, telling wouldn’t help; if there was, the prediction couldn’t manifest immediately.
But Ziya wasn’t bothered by it at all, pushing the divination pot in front of the man and having him draw a hexagram slip, which was handed over for Ziya to inspect.
Jiang Ziya asked, "Did you recently take in a concubine?"
"Sir, do you know me?" The man was startled.
"We’ve never met, how could I?" Jiang Ziya gently stroked his long beard. "But if I’m not mistaken, go find a doctor when you get home. That concubine of yours should have a boy in her belly right now."
The man left in disbelief but promised one thing as he went.
"Sir, if your prediction is accurate, I’ll send a hundred taels as your fee."
Nezha and Jiang Ziya exchanged amused glances and Nezha asked, "Uncle, could that concubine really be pregnant?"
"Could it be false?"
"That’s quite a coincidence." Nezha thought in his heart, considering it to be Jiang Ziya’s turn of luck, only to wonder if the timing was somewhat premature.
Then Jiang Ziya said, "I’m not a fool. I finally got a business; why would I mess it up? I only said that his young wife’s belly holds a boy, didn’t specify that the boy is his son."
Nezha found this amusing too, not bothering with the soon-to-be cuckolded boss, and instead sat down in front of Jiang Ziya.
"You crafty old man, why not tell my fortune and see if you’re accurate or not."
