"Fucking bastard, " I cursed as I lay on the meadow and refused to sleep next to Hunter. I was pissed off because he had rejected my offer.

"I can hear you" Hunter’s voice was filled with laughter.

"Bastard" I rubbed my hands as the cold bit my finger. "Asshole, "I continued to curse him. I pushed my wolf’s power so that I could bask in the warmth of my wolf. Ten minutes later, I felt the warmth seep in, and then Hunter’s hands went around my body.

"You are making too much noise. How can one sleep?" He pulled me closer and covered me.

"Did you not chase me away?" I complained but welcomed the warmth that he was offering.

"How did the moon gods choose you as my mate?" Hunter whispered. " You are so much trouble. Do you know that I had to take a detour today because you followed me and yet Lobo Aria sent someone to follow me?

I stiffened and turned to face Hunter, whose eyes had changed to gold and I knew that he was using his wolf powers to offer me warmth.

"I was careless" I swallowed hard and then leaned closer. " Hunter"

"What?" He responded.

"Why did you send the Mangy wolf after me? Why did you send those men to follow me?" I demanded.

"It was Alpha Lobo’s orders. But if you notice, no one hurt you. I ensured that you would not get hurt. He wanted to scare you off. I am sorry lil gal" He pressed me closer to him.

"What kind of messed up situation is this?" I complained.

"I have been asking myself the same thing" He pressed our foreheads together. " I dont know how to protect you"

"Is it so hard to give me a kiss? " I whispered and felt his body tremble.

"Tala" His voice was filled with threats.

"Yes, Hunter," I responded. " I want you to kiss me. " I was being shameless, but the truth was that I just needed to confirm that being with Hunter was the right thing.

He leaned down and then pressed his lips to mine. Slow at first and then I pulled him closer and opened my mouth. Hunter growled as he kissed me with passion, without holding back and our tongues dueled, savored, and tasted each other. Elisha, my wolf, rose up and whined happily.

When we came up for air, I had only one word to say ’ Wow". I turned my body around and cuddled in the hunter’s chest as I listened to his heart race and body buzz. "Why can’t I feel your wolf, Hunter?" I demanded.

Hunter pulled my chin up. Our eyes clashed, and then I saw his wolf rise to the surface. My hand went to his cheek as I gazed in awe at Hunter’s wolf.

"Why would you let Lobo suppress a powerful wolf-like yours? ?" I demanded when I realized that Hunter Hemmings wolf was not an enforcer but an Alpha Wolf. Lobo was using his Alpha powers to suppress Hunter since he had submitted to him.

"Let it slide Tala" He advised.

"No way. Hemming is a superior wolf. Why did you let that sleazy bastard do this to you," My eyes teared up in pain.

"Lobo saved my life. I owe him so much, " Hunter explained.

I was so angry that I turned back around and my back faced Hunter. He pulled me close and whispered, "Please don’t ever tell anyone about this. The lives of many people depend on my silence"

My body racked with sobs as I cried for Hunter with so much anger and pain. I could not imagine what he had gone through to let his hemming submit to Lobo Aria. I felt fatigue kick in. I closed my eyes for the second time in the day and fell asleep.

I was startled awake when Elisha, my wolf, woke me up.

"What is wrong? " I sent the message through our mind link, as I did not want to wake Hunter up.

"I sense men approaching, "Elisha responded.

I shook Hunter up, and his eyes snapped open in surprise. " We have company, " I told him.

We rushed to put the fire out while covering our tracks and Hunter picked up the backpack and then I felt how he released his power to search for the persons approaching.

"Enforcers "He cursed. "They found us "

"I suggest we separate. I now understand that you need to be as far away from me. I will find later," I stated and turned to leave. Hunter pulled me closed and pressed his lips on mine. " I will send someone to find out when I am done with what I came to do"

I nodded and rushed off from the forest as I took a different trail down, making sure to lose the enforcers. I hid for an hour before resurfacing and going down the mountain. I got to the end of the forest and chose to go through the Freki lands. I arrived at the construction site late in the afternoon and the minute I walked into the construction site container Conri raised an eyebrow while Everest seethed, "Why do you smell of Hunter Hemmings? "

"Because Hunter is her mate, " Conri supplied, and Everest’s eyes widened.

"How did you know?" I asked shyly

"My wolf could sense it and Tizheruk confirmed it the other day. Your mother, Lucian, Elder Zaya, seems to also know. " Conri pointed out.

I cursed and rubbed my hair in frustration. " I thought I could keep a lid on it. I have been doing so for so many years. "

"You knew about it?" Everest was even more shocked.

"How come you are here? " I demanded, deflecting from his question.

"I opted to stay behind and send some of Conri’s men so that we don’t arouse suspicion," Everest responded.

"Hunter knows what we are doing. He warned me that Chugach jail is well guarded and no one can penetrate. "I informed them.

"It would not hurt to try. Let us wait for them to come back," Everest affirmed.

"Conri, can I speak to you in private? " I asked Conri and avoided Everest’s wide eyes.

"If you will excuse me, "Everest left the container and once the door closed, I moved closer to where Conri was seated.

"What do you need? " He stood up.

"Can you wolf be able to sense what kind of wolf Hunter Hemming is?" I whispered.

"Not an Enforcer. I have always felt that his wolf is suppressed. " Conri responded honestly.

"You need to help him. Please, " I pleaded.

"Okay. But he has to agree to it or else it will all be for nothing. " Conri nodded.

"Thank you Conri. I will forever be indebted to you" I smiled warmly and left the container. I found Everest pacing by the gate and he rushed over. " Are you okay ?"

"I am. " I nodded, and he heaved a sigh" I was worried. "

"No need. Conri will help me with what I want. I don’t mean to hide from you but this is personal," I assured him with a smile.

"It’s fine. "He smiled back. "I called a cab for you. It will take you home. "

"Thank you, Everest. "I waved at him as I boarded the cab and then instructed the cab driver to take me to Benjamin’s pub.

By the time I arrived, it was already dusk, and the place was streaming in with pack members. I found Ma, seated at the corner of the pub, together with Benjamin. She waved at me I entered the pub and I rushed over to her. She stood up in a panic as I ran into her arms and burst into sobs, raking my body, letting out all the pain that I felt with my discoveries.

"There, there, "Ma rubbed my back as she consoled me. " Calm down, child. "

Once I was calm enough, Benjamin escorted us to his office that was at the back offer. Once we entered, I sat down and hiccuped while the sobs subsided. Benjamin sat close by as he watched us with concern.

"Ma’ "I sniffed.

"It’s all right. Whatever it is you can tell me" She pulled a chair to sit facing me.

"I know who my mate is, "I spoke up as the tears kept coming.

I nodded and continued to narrate, " The problem is that Hunter is under Lobo Aria. "

"Oh, child." Ma rubbed my hands.
